They also do up some specialty items like tripe and masa. Assuming you are not here for the meats or prepared foods this is also a full grocery. Drink and frozen food coolers line the back walls and the produce section is at the very back. Dry goods everywhere else. The beer selection is just average, as are the dry goods. The real strong points are the aforementioned meat counter, bulk items (especially the beans, rice, flour and chiles) and the small but very affordable yet high quality veg section. some of the weekly specials for the produce are unbeatable. And so glad we did! The sausages were delicious, the staff behind the meat counter were THE coolest (they helped us select which sausages since we had a glazed over look as it was our first time), and the selection was enormous. We went inside and saw an assortment of used farming tools, boots, and DVDs, as well as reasonably priced beers, sodas, snacks, and sandwiches. We ended up getting a roast beef and Swiss sandwich. When we checked out, the guy at the counter (who I assume is the owner) was so sweet. We bought 2 used DVDs, and he said, "Since these are used and might not work, we do have a 90 day return policy." They were $2.99 per DVD, so we found it really wholesome and something you don't see often around here to offer than kind of policy. He was generally a very warm character to interact with. We stopped on the side of the road and ate the sand which. It was made with very basic ingredients - nothing fancy: grocery store sliced bread, Boarshead roast beef, a decent Swiss cheese, fresh tomatoes, fresh butter lettuce, and fresh red onion with a bit of mayo. What impressed me was just how homemade it felt - like something your grandma would assemble with love. It just felt so wholesome and sat so well. I've never gotten food in California that felt that way- what a nice spot! When we head back to Gilroy, we will absolutely stop here again!
