Pasta Primavera with clams and shrimp. The shrimp are served with shells on.

Interesting menu with Portuguese specialties. Lots of seafood selections and some fun dishes such as the flaming Portuguese sausage appetizer! Portions are generous and prices are far below what you would pay for similar fare, say, in WeHa center. A star deduction due to it being quite noisy, shrimp served in dishes that you didn't expect to have to take out of their shells before taking a bite, and cod fish portions that had a lot of bones. This may be true to the ethnic recipes and is probably a way to keep costs down. Overall experience was good and we will try it again in the not too distant future.

Service was impeccable and the food delicious- loved this place and I would highly recommend the caldo verde (velvety is the best way to describe), grouper with shrimp and chocolate mouse. The Portuguese wine is also great!!

Really enjoyed this place! Came here for a late lunch with a friend and enjoyed every bite. Service was friendly and prompt. We each got sangria to start, my white sangria was delicious and perfect for a hot day. The bread was soft, great to have on the side. I ordered the Febras de Porco (boneless pork) with saffron rice and boiled potatoes. The food was cooked perfectly and the brown sauce was very tasty! Enjoyed this meal very much. At lunch it wasn't busy, maybe 3-4 tables and a few individuals at the bar. Will definitely return!

Portuguese restaurant with an authentic feel and amazing flavors at an incredible price. The menu has a solid variety, all of which is very affordable. Have table, bar, and patio seating. I came for lunch, sat at the bar, and got a steak sandwich. -The bartender was very friendly and my food came out very quickly -I also got some complimentary bread, but it was pretty stale -The steak sandwich was delicious, and the total for my lunch was just 6.50$!! --The actual steak sandwhich was even cheaper (3.50$) but after adding lettuce, tomato, cheese, and peppers it ended up being 6.50$ 9

Such a nice experience for lunch the other day. I was meeting some friends that go to work in Hartford and this place was the perfect spot. The service was really nice, they were able to accommodate my request for a more private table and our waiter was really nice, sad I forgot his name. Everyone at the table enjoyed the food so much I couldn't take any pictures of the entrees: shrimp with baked potato and salads. I was able to get some pictures of the olives, bread and soup. Not even the margaritas stood a chance! Planning to go back pretty soon!

Always an incredible experience, service and food. Never rushed, a great relaxing night with friends with incredible authentic Portuguese dishes.

Talk about an amazing dining experience! If I could give 6 stars I would. Primavera Pub is top notch and I can't wait to go back for their burger next and also their octopus special on Fridays! Ok- before I start talking about the next time, I should probably start with what a great time I had on Wednesday. Thank you to Raphela for being such a great bartender too! And of course Phil for being the best tour guide to all things Portuguese. We started with the Cuttlefish, the Chourico Grelhado and the Clams. Order the Chourico Grelhado. They light it up right in front of you and it sizzles and smells so good! It tastes even better! Do it! Also- try the Primavera Mix drink- it's red wine, light beer and sumol mixed together and trying it for the first time- I would definitely order that again. Up next for entrees- the Bife na Pedra---the New York Strip cooked on a hot stone. So much fun! We also tried the app version of the Seafood Mix and the Steak a Roberto- the sauce on it was a mix of mustard, ketchup and Grand Marnier---well damn! They also top it with an egg. Killer! So good! Dip your broccoli rabe in that sauce. Love. We ended with the Bolo Bolacha--highly recommend if you have room for dessert to order this one. The Maria cookies---yum! This night felt like I was in Portugal and I absolutely loved it. From the bread and olives to start to the CR&F Brandy. What a phenomenal time with great company. Saude!!

When we got there, the bar was somewhat busy, the dining room was pretty empty and they were wondering where to seat us, which was confusing. It was quite warm in there, was hoping since it was summer that the AC would make it at least a little cooler, but alas, it did not, we were sweating sitting there. We ordered drinks, I ordered a pomegranate martini, but then the waitress came back and said they didn't have the stuff to make it, so I got a lemon drop instead. Sad to say, it was the worst lemon drop that o have ever had, very tart and not sweet enough like other lemon drops. I drank it quickly so I wouldn't waste the alcohol. Our waitress didn't speak very good English, she said twice about ordering rice as my side dish and corrected her twice saying that I wanted the French fries, not the rice and pointing on the menu. What came out? The rice lol. I stopped the person that delivered our food and he took it back and came back with French fries. They had nothing on them (no salt) and needed to be flavored a bit, so I added some salt. So if you are watching your sodium, their fries are for you! Our main dishes were excellent, I got seafood mix and my boyfriend got the steak a casa with a side of boiled potatoes, which were very much like cubed French fries, again no seasoning or salt and seemed fried or baked bc they were crispy. Reminded me of homefries at some places. Prices were good though and we had leftovers since we also ordered salads. Overall, both of us felt that we likely wouldn't go back.

I discovered this place while searching for local restaurants participating in the annual Taste of Hartford. This restaurant was one I never heard of so I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did! The portions are huge, the staff is wonderful and the food is great. If you're looking for a restaurant serving up authentic Portuguese cuisine then look no further. This place is a must! I definitely plan on returning soon for some more deliciousness.

And I finally found a home Where I'll never be alone Right here (Huey Lewis) FInally! No lie -I've had the Primavera Pub bookmarked for around seven years. Ever since a family friend raved about it, I wanted to check it out, and I finally did for lunch today. I walked in at around 12:30 on a Tuesday and I have to say the place was jammed. There was just one parking spot left, and the dining room and bar area were 99% full. Interior impressions? Well it was loud inside, real loud. Lots of spirited conversations at the packed tables. It looked like the clientele was 98% male. There were two TV's on the walls -one showed a soccer match between Portugal and Angola and the other showed a Spanish language talk show, I think the title was A Tarde e Sua, which according to Google Translate means "Your Afternoon". There were two young ladies working the bar and the dining room, and to handle that crowd, they should have had 2 more. It took a while for someone to come over to my table. But that gave me plenty of time to check out the menu and notice their very reasonable pricing structure. They have $4 sandwiches and you can add fries for $2 more! Where else will you see 75 cent appetizers? They had two of them here - a shrimp cake and a cod cake. I had one of each and liked the shrimp cake better -it was a hollowed out semicircle of a crust with some salad shrimps inside and it was pretty good. I ordered the Seafood Mix Appetizer ($10.50) which turned out to be an awesome plate of shrimps, clams and squid in a buttery and garlicky sauce. Freebies included a small bowl of black olives and a nice portion of crunchy bread slices and cubes. I really enjoyed my time here -it was a very different kind of stop for me. The food was delicious and well priced, the servers were all pleasant, and the people watching experience was stellar!

I'm stuffed! Holy cow. So, I met some colleagues here for lunch. BRING YOUR APPETITE!! The portions are big, the wine is red and the prices are right. We will return! It's clean, the food is fresh. Força Portugal! Lol

Hands down my new favorite restaurant. Killing time waiting for my knives to be sharpened around…read morethe corner so I stopped in for lunch (thanks to the Yelp reviews). Found parking right in front - a good omen. It wasn't quite, "You had me when you said 'hello.'" but I was definitely hopeful when I walked in. Small place. A working man's taverna. The bar takes up a third of the room and a dozen tables, mostly high hats, take up the rest. The owner's at the bar sipping a beer and presumably looking over things. A number of obvious locals at the tables and the bar. Portuguese intermixed with English the sounds of the house. The menu consisted of well-known Portuguese fare, and I had already determined what I would have based on the Yelp reviews. But in the back was the chalkboard with the daily specials. The friendly server came by with olives in garlic and bread and butter, and explained the specials, so I switched up and got the spinach soup and the beans "transmontana," all with a glass of house Portuguese red. Everything, simply everything, was delicious and abundant. No frills. Nothing vertical, no olive oil drizzle on the soup, just plain good food. The soup seemed to have a chicken stock base but had some thickness, spinach, nice potatoes. Warm and rich. The bean dish - if you want to call it that - was really a full plateful of hacked pork, chorizo, cabbage potatoes...and, yes, beans, with a side of white rice. The pork was to die for, succulent, melt-off-the-bone good. The flavor probably enhanced by the marrow from the broken bones. I mean, this was REALLY good. I intended to try more just to see if I happened to get lucky. They had two fish dishes worth a try and everyone seems to like the crab/fish cakes. But I had all I could handle and still took a plate home for my next meal. If I told you the price, you'd think I was being paid for this. Simply put, this is home-cooked food, plentifully portioned and priced like it was 1950, or maybe like you were in the mountains of Portugal. Thanks to the house for making this my lucky day.

We were greeted with a huge smile by an attractive, efficient bartender. Our draught domestics were served in frosted mugs -- and were only $2 apiece! We'd planned on some suds as part of our neighborhood exploration, but asked for menus because we saw a lot of folks at table enjoying some awesome-looking plates. All we had was a plate of incredible cheese (served in tiny 1/2 inch cubes, complete with picks) and "prosciutto." The meat was indeed a kind of prosciutto, but was served in 1/3 inch cubes, and set next to the cheese. The rosy, fatty, delicious hunks of meat were chewy but very good, also. Perfect for nibbling with beer. The "prosciutto and cheese" combo appetizer was $9.50. A shrimp appetizer, served in a seafood-forward, complex garlic sauce was only $7.95. The shrimp were pristine, sweet, and fresh -- and barely cooked. Perfection! We offered to pay for bread as an accompaniment. They didn't charge us. The bread was fresh, delicious Portuguese dinner rolls with butter. Every single thing we were served in our brief visit was fresh, served at the correct temperature, and was absolutely delicious. We can't wait to return. Beer, hors d'oeuvres, great service: $35 with a 25% gratuity. Value like this: priceless. GO HERE.
