We were staying in Nocona, which is about 10 miles away, and decided to give this place a try. The decor is very nice, and you feel like you are in a Texas Steakhouse. I had the 8 oz bacon-wrapped filet, cooked medium rare, and my wife had the grilled shrimp. The shrimp wasn't described as "spicy," but my wife asked them if they could do it, and they said "sure." My steak was perfectly seasoned and cooked. In all honesty, I've had better "prime" cuts of steak, but they were also A LOT more expensive than this steak was. So, overall, it was a great steak for the price. They did a nice job of making my wife's shrimp "spicy," and she enjoyed her meal. We both had a side Caesar salad and baked potato, and they were very good. A gentleman, who we believe was the owner or manager, came over and talked to us for a bit, which was very nice. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and will come back again if we are ever in the area.

We were told to go here for good steak! And they were right! I had the petite (poteet) filet medium well. It came perfectly cooked with a piece of bacon wrapped around it. It was served with a cheese biscuit- which looked delish- but since I'm no-carbing - I abstained. The steak was tender and well seasoned. Just what you expect in Texas ranch country. And this fulfilled the promise. Service was prompt and friendly. Atmosphere was family friendly with cartoons on the big screen TV. We went back this Fall- all was consistently good. Service is uber friendly. Had The Duke sirloin steak and it was perfectly cooked and plenty large enough for two.

I must say I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Was a little out of the way from where I was staying but well worth the travel. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a good steak.

Absolutely the best steak place in the area. We had the filet and it was excellent. Salad was fresh and crisp. We will definitely be back.

The steaks are the best in North Texas, the appetizers and sides are mostly fried but still tasty, and desserts are worth the splurge.

Beyond the cleanliness, the atmosphere is warm and exceptionally welcoming. The staff is genuinely friendly, and the owners go out of their way to ensure every guest feels truly taken care of. It is rare to find a place that balances such professional upkeep with a personal, "home-away-from-home" feel. Highly recommended for anyone in the area looking for a quality experience. The food is great. The plates are small ( which is fine ) but it would have been nice to have a bit of room to cut up my food , and I'd add a second side to anything that's not a sandwich, but even with just one side ( steaks get two ) you don't leave hungry. ( extra sides are 4 a piece) The only other suggestion is a basket of homemade bread would be perfect for this establishment . It's a southern food , steaks and gravy type place. A basket of bread would make it perfect . Great place though . We would go out of our way to stop again.

Having changed hands through different owners over the years, I know of one for sure. I remember a man named Gary took it over, and the prime rib was wonderful. The staff is always friendly and professional, and the food arrives in a timely manner. This time I ordered the prime rib, which was a huge portion that would probably make at least two meals. If not, three it comes with salad and a side rolls and they're delicious crouton basket, which are out of this world and that was only $51. The prime rib was very tasty as was the potato casserole I ordered as a side did I mention how great the croutons were? They are amazing. Definitely would recommend fireside for your dining. It's only open on Friday and Saturday so it gives you something to think about during the week.

Her menu knowledge was exceptional, and she confidently answered every question we had with professionalism and genuine enthusiasm. She recommended the Lobster Cargo with sourdough bread to start, followed by the Kirby's Chopped Salad, the sea bass, the Pepper Filet, the au gratin potatoes, and the fried asparagus. Every single recommendation was incredible. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the flavor profiles were absolutely outstanding. What truly made the evening unforgettable was Katelyn's service. She has such a warm, bubbly personality and kept a smile on her face the entire evening. She was attentive without ever being overbearing, and our drinks never went empty. To top it all off, she surprised us with the most amazing brûléed cheesecake to celebrate our engagement, complete with a beautifully handwritten message on the plate. It was such a thoughtful touch that made an already incredible evening even more special. Katelyn truly made our celebration unforgettable, and she is, hands down, the best server we've ever had. We will absolutely be back to see Miss Katelyn again. If you're dining at Kirby's, do yourself a favor and request her--you won't be disappointed. Five stars all around!

Which they knew because we got free dessert for the birthdays which was great. But the food was very disappointing. One of our salads quality of lettuce was wilted and starting to discolor. The roquefort dressing was really good. The steaks came out how we ordered it, however on the third bite, they were already cold. The 5oz filet, my first bite was excessively fatty and chewy. The crab cake, that came with the 5oz filet was overdone. The lobster Mac and cheese also did not have much of a lobster flavor or meat. There was also no information on the iPad given to us about the mickey mantle old fashioned (but it was really good). We were so looking forward to this meal all day. We didn't want to make a scene when we were there. We wanted to have good vibes for the rest of the night (which we did because we won $1900). Drinks were the best part of the meal. But we were over all disappointed, because we were celebrating our birthdays. I tried sending them a personal message through OpenTable in hopes management would get back to us just to acknowledge our disappointment. However we have not heard from them (7 days as of posting this). So now I am using yelp.

I walked in just after 6pm on a Tuesday and the only seat left was at the bar, which was fine with me. There was live music playing in the center of the restaurant and a lot of families were enjoying their meals. I drank club soda and ordered a ribeye with German potatoes, which my server recommended. The atmosphere was great. A lot goes on at the bar so it was very entertaining. I was chatting with the people around me as if I'd known them. That's refreshing while on a business trip alone. My food came out pretty quickly. Yum. Steak was seasoned well and cooked just right, medium rare. The potatoes were delicious and reminded me of the vegetables that are often served with a Sunday roast in Germany (I actually lived there for 25 years). A restaurant does not have to be 'upscale' to receive a high rating. I did take away a star for the salad. It was just ok, pre-made and kept in the fridge until time to serve it. The romaine edges were dry, as were the carrots. The dressing was fine and I did eat the whole salad. As a matter of fact, I cleaned my plate. The guy to the left of me asked me if I was gonna post the empty plate on YELP with my review. Great idea. It turns out that the man was Ford Swanson Jr., the owner. I had no idea and I told him that. His response was, "I didn't want you to know." I guess he wanted to see if I really liked my food. Anyway, I don't even know if he looks at his YELP reviews or not but if he does, "Thanks McBride Steakhouse for treating me to a delightful evening!"
