    Lunch specials

We were on our anniversary trip and came here for lunch on a Friday. We chose this town because we were married in a German town and thought visiting a close by German town would be a fun way to spend our anniversary. So you know I had to come here for the menu! I do want to say that I thought it was great they had both lunch and dinner specials! The prices and descriptions seemed so reasonable and their 3 salad luncheon special sounded very refreshing. I thought it was cool they had a salad bar, which included a daily soup, for only $8.99. However, I came here for the German food! It's a seat yourself place, they did have a sign near the door mentioning this. It was hopping on a Friday afternoon and I was wondering how they were going to know a new party sat down. I saw 2 small tables and 1 booth, although I think there might be an entire other side of the restaurant I didn't see when I entered. However, the moment I sat down at the booth, a server appeared wiping down the table and asking what we would like to drink. In fact, while we waited I saw everyone move very efficiently in serving and bussing the tables, keeping people on time for their lunch breaks, and we were checked on often. A woman who appeared to be the manager was actively working to relieve the load of all the servers, it was a very harmonious lunch shift. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with fried potatoes and red cabbage and it was delicious! It came with a roll and they served it with German mustard. I of course had leftovers and ordered additional rolls to go with my leftovers which were $0.60 each. My husband got the schnitzel sandwich on rye with a side of German potato salad that I got to sample (very good). We both enjoyed our meals. I think the red cabbage was my favorite, it had excellent flavor! I enjoyed the other aspects of my meal and the only thing I noticed was the breading came off pretty easy, but if I had let it cool this probably wouldn't have happened- everything was indeed piping hot! The mustard went well with the schnitzel and the fried potatoes were exactly what I wanted. My meal was $14.99 but was so much food, it was easily 2 portions for me- such a deal! They only charged $1.99 for my huge cup of sweet tea which was very tasty. My husband's meal was a great portion for $9.50 as well. The menu had a lot of variety if German isn't your thing. I saw baskets, seafood, a kids menu, a small Tex Mex section and of course the salad bar. They clearly serve breakfast as well since they open at 6am. They are closed on Sundays though, so keep that in mind when planning a visit. Our experience was great! I love a place with great food, prices and service! I will definitely return!

Rohmer's is the epitome of a country cafe with wall to wall walnut tones. Quiet but not stuffy; you feel at home. My family is originally from Germany, so it's hard to beat our home cooked stuff. Rohmer's definitely came close to Oma's quality. I liked the blend of down home Americana flavors with the traditional German flavors I love. Definitely embodies German-Texan culture. The red cabbage seems made in house and has a well balanced blend of sugar and vinegar. It's pale in color (yay less food dye!) and definitely leans more toward the sweet but not too much so. The chicken schnitzel definitely had country flavor. It was incredibly tender. The pork was even better; expertly pounded into the thinnest schnitzel, possible, a testament of a good German cook. The fried potatoes leaned more Americana than Ferman but were well prepared! The service was so attentive and kind. It is seat yourself but we had drinks within a minute of choosing our table. The waitperson was super kind and friendly and affirmed our choices. She not only put up with me wanting to combine all the different schnitzels into one mega plate so I could try them (I was super excited to try a new to me German place!), but made me feel good about putting her to the extra work. All smiles and kindness. Definitely making the trip back ASAP!!!! Might even look into them catering my wedding if I can convince them to drive to Denton!

My beautiful wife and I tried this place while visiting Muenster. We loved the town and the German aesthetic. While researching this town, I found this restaurant and wanted to try it out since I love German food. You come in and seat yourself. We were quickly waited on and they were pretty nice. The food came out quick. I ordered the chicken schnitzel with sauerkraut and fried potatoes. The food was really good. I think my only quibble would be the breading on the schnitzel may have been a little over done and had a slight burnt taste. Not a big deal. I'd order it again. Please give this place a try if you are ever in Muenster.

I came here with my work team for a hearty lunch and a taste of the local culture. This was my second visit over a space of about six years, but Rohmer's isn't exactly up the road from me. We were greeted with big smiles from the staff, and I saw that they treated all their customers just as well. Most of us did the sausage and schnitzel combos as shown in my pic, with some minor changes in the sides we selected. I did the jagerschnitzel with the summer sausage, and for my sides I chose sauerkraut and German potato salad. The food was as delicious as any I have had in Germany, and it was hard to slow down and enjoy it. The jager sauce did have a slight gelatinous texture to it, but the mouth feel was good and the flavor was incredibly deep. No complaints were heard at the table. In fact, no one said much of anything once the food came out. We knew better than to talk with our mouths full.

I will always want to try a German restaurant when I have the chance. Honestly, it wasn't the best German I've had but it wasn't the worst either. The schnitzel was good but the bratwurst was better! The place is dated, yes. BUT, I would say most German restaurants I've been to have a dated feel except for ones that are meant to be higher-end. The service was really friendly and that will always matter the most to me when I write reviews. Our waitress and other staff were so nice. We were in town for youth football and look forward to coming back.

I've wanted to come here for years. It seems every time I make it up from Fort Worth there isn't time or I miss the business hours. Today my wife and I made a special trip up on the motorcycle just to eat here, from Fort Worth. The outside looks just like an authentic German restaurant. We met the nicest guy inside to greet us and sat down right away on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was only about 40% full. The smells already had me drooling. So our waitress was right on point and had our drink order within a minute of sitting down. She was friendly and super helpful. Even recommended a great German beer. I had a coupon Paulaner Oktoberfest in a very cold beer mug. I ordered the Schnitzel and sausage plate with warm German potato salad and red cabbage. My wife ordered the bratwurst and sausage plate. OMG it was like we were transported overseas to a real German restaurant. Everything was cooke from perfection and that schnitzel melted in my mouth. The warm potato salad was just as good as my mother made when I was growing up. The cabbage was on point too. This is well worth the long drive and we'll be back again. So many other things I want to try on their menu. The service was just as good as their food!

Props to Rohmer's Restaurant and staff for handing a large group. I'm from central Texas and came up to see friends and do a car club run. Start to finish service was really on point. We filled the entire back dining room! Threw in a extra star for service alone. Driving up to the DFW area, or delegation had a delightful German meal in Lampasas. Knowing, we don't get good German too often we opted for another schnitzel and brats. Sadly, it didn't compare to what we had the day prior. Jager gravy was a bit weak. Red cabbage needed some flavor too. What I did REALLY like that I usually don't care for was the German Potato salad. And since the GF was going mostly low carb I dived into the complimentary rolls like a boss. Sausage plate with brat and a traditional American pork link were nice bites too. BUT, don't let this review keep you from stopping in while visiting the big town of Muenster, Texas. The menu is also filled with Texas staples like enchiladas, fried catfish, steaks, and breakfast too! Next time I'll try something different and report back. Salad bar too so yall know it's a classy place.

Ordered from two disinterested employees that were not friendly at all despite being super slow business wise by the looks of it to get some food to go as we were leaving. Ordered currywurst and gave the standard normal tip. They were cooking/letting one brat sit on the grill when I walked up I noticed. A little expensive. Left to go pick more food up while they were making it. Picked the food up and brought it home when I discovered they gave me a regular brat in a bun with no sauce or anything else in the box. It looked exactly like the one that was on the grill when I opened the box, which isn't a big deal if it was prepared to the order as currywust. I get you prep for orders I guess when it's busy. I don't think that was the case for my visit. I can't say for certain it was the same food since I left, but based on how it was received, I'll lean towards it wasn't prepared to order. Your mileage may vary. This part is reviewing what I received. It was definitely nowhere as good as the last time I had their normal brat and was dry. They cut the brat a lot, which is fine if the brat stays juicy normally but they killed it with this one and cooked it too long I guess, but it was so dry. I don't remember any of the full brats that I've ordered in the past being prepared like this but I'm not the chef. I only ended up eating a couple bites before throwing it away. I should have checked the box, but I assumed with no other orders and lots of time standing around chit chatting that they would get the only order correct. I felt a little awkward walking up, waiting and waiting, and then having to try to get their attention to pick the order up after obviously being there 5 minutes before to place the order without anyone else waiting in line to get the food. I wish I had some of the curry sauce or onions or something to add some moisture. I think they just didn't care or wanted to mess with someone. I was super friendly and thankful for their help at the time. Disappointed to say the least as the currywurst is what I wanted. I definitely think something happened when they moved from the entrance on the first floor. This used to be a delicious, busy, and reliable favorite. Not so much anymore. What a shame.

Which was perfectly ok with me since I was going to go pretty simple and get Das Original, which is the traditional mild pork bratwurst. It was ready in 7 minutes down the line and they have some ketchup, mustard, other sauces that you can add to your bratwurst when you get it. Yeah... I kinda added ketchup to it. Whoops. It smelled good and it tasted good as well. The bratwurst was so juicy that I was kinda scared that the sauces were gonna go everywhere. The brat is actually longer/ more than I expected, so I'm kinda happy. One definitely won't make you full however - so prep for that. Food kinda made my coworker a little hungry as well haha. Maybe if I'm in the area next time, I'll try one of their other brats... I see a curry one haha. A good place to pick and try some of their foods as a snack.

I'm actually very glad we came here instead of the other places we had planned on going for lunch. When we went, it was not crowded and we got seated quickly. My wife ended up getting duck. Before my food came out, they also brought out a salad. I don't know if it was part of the jager schnitzel entree or the duck... But the salad was amazing. Everything was pickled and very intense flavor. Both entrees were great and i also like the fact that they have a kid's menu that serves german food. (I was afraid the kids menu would have simple items like burger and or chicken tenders, but that's not the case here.) the lunch portions were perfectly sized.... granted its not "texas sized" but it did its job and i left satisfied. What i really like about the place is the interior decor. It looks like the owners brought back so many trinkets, souvenirs and photos from their trips to Germany and it makes it feel more authentic. I give no complaint to the food and the ambience, as I have always eaten well and enjoyed the jaunty, light-hearted ambience that this restaurant has provided for decades. My wife and I decided to take our kids out tonight to try German food. The service tonight was abysmal. We waited for twenty minutes for our waiter. When someone finally arrived, he was rather abrupt and rude. Tables around us who were seated immediately received bread before us. Our pickled vegetable side and a beer was brought out promptly, but this would be the only part of our order we received. We waited for over an hour without being checked in on one time. Once! The waiter appeared from the kitchen a couple of times clearly eating something and then disappeared for almost half an hour. When he finally reappeared I asked for more bread, as the kids were getting antsy. He did not verbally respond to this, but walked off and returned with a basket which he more or less tossed on the table, making an obvious effort to avoid eye contact with me. After an hour and fifteen, someone else came by and asked if we were okay. We responded that we were just waiting for our food. This person, too, disappeared without a response. At an hour and a half--kids hungry and depleted of whatever patience they had--we left. This makes a bitter end to what has otherwise been a joyful patronage to a local legend.
