Prime movers from the start was great, the reason for only 4 stars was because our items was in the storage when it reached California from Hawaii for a month. The storage or business the is affiliated with the in L.A.,Ca was very unprofessional. 1 they almost charged me 2x the fee 2. Sent me a lien letter stating our items was there longer then 90 days which it hadn't been 60 from the day the picked up my stuff from Hawaii. 30days comes with the shipping n another month added. I kept in contact with the dispatcher of Prime Movers of our situation etc.... But I wrote a review of how the movers from Hawaii cared for our items. And the movers that actually delivered our items were great too. Micheal the actual dispatcher I've been working with from start was great too, very helpful with all my questions and concerns that I had due to first big move. There was a little miscommunication but everything work out well. We got our items and vehicle all in good condition that we left in their care and the price is reasonable. read more

This was my third military PCS move but first time using government contracted movers. We relocated from Long Island, NY to Yorktown, VA. Pre-move communication was very poor. Despite the contract being awarded a month before my move date, the first contact I had with the movers was a week before my move and that was because I initiated the call. I was then contacted by phone asking me about all of our major furniture pieces and any unusual items. I walked around the house giving an inventory of all our furniture and was told since our stuff sounded pretty standard they would not send out an assessor. When the movers showed they had a work order with 7,000 lbs estimate despite my having entered an initial 10,000 lbs estimate into DPS (I knew we had at least 8,500 lbs from weight docs from previous move). This severe underestimate resulted in the movers questioning the space on the truck early in the first day. This added unneeded stress that could have been avoided if they had sent out an assessor ahead of time. Pre-move comms get a 1 star. Now to the actual move....where they failed in comms they made up for in the move...5 stars here (which to me is the most important part!). They sent 3 very professional, nice, and accommodating movers. They packed all of our stuff and loaded the truck (10,500 lbs) in 2 days. They even worked around timing of naps and bed time for our 18 month old making sure to get her bedroom and surrounding rooms completed when she wasn't sleeping. Despite an awkward layout of the house and location of heavy items (large treadmill on 2nd floor) there was no damage to the house at all. They packed the truck to the last inch, literally! We requested direct delivery which resulted in the dispatcher wanting to have our hhg's arrive a day before we ourselves were going to arrive at the new house. The lead mover went to bat for us and got them to agree to delay delivery a day. They never unpacked the truck enroute, they simply parked the truck in their lot for a day. The day after we arrived at the new house, the same truck with same crew showed up and delivered our items. We have the majority of the house unpacked and have nothing damaged! I recently moved from Honolulu to the Bay Area in California and I used Prime Hawaiian Movers to ship my car and small amount of household goods (100ft^3). Before signing a contract, I spoke with Mandy numerous times on the phone and she was extremely helpful. The movers in Hawaii were excellent. They came right on time (actually a few minutes early), were friendly, and quick. They had to move my belongings down three flights of steps on a fairly hot day, but they did not complain or give any indication that they were bothered. The car shipment was pretty much handled completely by Matson and it went very smoothly. The reason I didn't give this company more stars is that I found the movers on the California side were not good. In my California apartment, the movers could park about 10 feet from an elevator, take the elevator up 4 floors, and then place the boxes in my apartment which was another 10 feet from the elevator doors -- so it was much easier for the California movers compared to the Hawaii movers. Despite that, the movers were grouchy and dropped numerous boxes, including the only two boxes that had "Fragile" written all over them. Everything was accounted for and nothing actually broke (which is obviously the most important part) but I would expect the movers to handle the items with a little more care. They also made a few comments that made me uncomfortable so I wanted them to leave as soon as possible. read more

We had items in storage 4 yrs. Called Prime and got a good quote from Michael. Prime called me everyday until I locked the price in. Promised express shipping and a Saturday delivery date. During the moving process, they had to add on cubic feet for $700 in addition to the $2800 we already paid. I called Dispatch Friday and was told our belongings just arrived in the port at Long Beach and to call on Tuesday for updates. I am now being told our belongings just arrived in the port of LA. No promises on our requested delivery date. I am adamant about the Saturday delivery as I'm disabled and don't get around so quickly and that is the day my husband will be able to be home. Talked with Rose in dispatch and she was to speak to our sales manager and call me back but NO PHONE CALLS. GO FIGURE !! read more

From the initial estimate appointment with Gil in Jersey City, to delivery on our small mountain road in Sonoma, everything was dealt with in a professional and timely manner. Every item showed up in the exact condition that it was packed with no problems at all. We researched and got estimates from numerous moving companies with different options, and I must say, if I had to do it over I would stick with the decision I made! I recently used Prime Van Lines for a residential move. At first I was very impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail during our in-home estimate, delivering of boxes, email correspondence, and prompt reply to phone calls. When moving day arrived that was a completely different story. My movers showed up 1.5 hours late and when I called the office to inquire about their location, they said that the GPS accidentally took them to the wrong borough. I was very inconvenienced because I had parking spaces reserved at my new address for a certain timeframe as well as an inspection with my new landlord- all of which had to be pushed back and thus, I was charged more money to continue to reserve the spaces. When I told them about this inconvenience, they said "Well sometimes this happens" and didn't offer any other words of encouragement or discounts to our moving. In addition, once the movers arrived I found that they were not instructed at all on what they were supposed to be packing and what I paid for. I had to stop them from loading my expensive items "as is" (with no protection) because I was expecting them to be packed properly by the company. Although they were not prepared, my movers did a great job using other materials they had on had to wrap, pack and protect my items which all arrived in one piece. Although they did get moved successfully, the added stress of me having to stop them from packing the items into the truck (literally I stopped them as they were going into the truck) and then making sure they were wrapped appropriately was something I was not prepared to deal with and something I PAID for not to happen. The movers were also unprepared and did not have shrink-wrap to wrap up my mattresses, which I requested and paid for them to have. After this round of incidents, I called back the company and requested that I get money taken off of my bill because the experience wasn't what I paid for. After TWO HOURS of going back and forth with phone calls and waiting, I was called back and told that "overall everything arrived so why do you think you should get money off?" I was appalled. I paid money to these guys thinking that they would take care of me and make my move less stressful. After detailing all of the above they offered me a $25 discount. Disgusting. I would have rather had no money taken off than only $25 which was a slap in the face. I would like to clarify that my movers were wonderful. They were a hard grouping team of three that were not given the correct information, so I do not hold them accountable at all and they accommodated and did everything they could with what they had. They were lovely and I feel bad that they were not given the information and are only given a very small percentage of the money that Prime Van Lines got from my move, when they worked so hard. I would not recommend Prime Van Lines. In the beginning they were great, but come moving day, they did not deliver that same customer service that they pride themselves on which is very disappointing. read more

Mostly, these guys did a good job. We moved to and from Hawaii to California. We had a couple of broken things, but for the most part they did what they said they were going to do. The biggest complaint was that I got the quote over the phone, and then the guys actually doing the moving kept telling me that this and that were not included. I held my ground and told them that they should have sent someone to the house to do a physical inspection. In the end, they held the price and got the move done. I used Prime Van Lines this past January 2nd to move from New York to North Carolina. I had a good experience with them from the start. They contacted me at my convenience & were always prompt & organized. The estimator was on time & polite. He educated me on moving in general, knowing this was my first time hiring a moving company. The price he quoted me was reasonable & didn't change upon delivery (which is what I hear usually happens). The movers upon pick up & delivery were polite, on time & well put together. The drop off movers stayed to put furniture together & put things in their respective rooms. They even helped us haul a lot of the boxes away. Also, absolutely nothing was damaged. And, I have a lot of delicate things. I was quite impressed. I've heard a lot of moving horror stories. This was definitely not that. There was however, two things I wasn't happy about. The lead mover at pick up told me that I should tip the whole crew. I was obviously going to tip. It was quite tacky to inform me of that without my asking. Second, we didn't realize that we had to pay the final payment with cash or money order only. We used a debit card for the initial down payment & pick up payment. But, this wasn't an option at delivery. The up side was that the movers patiently waited for us to find an open post office & get a money order of over $1,000 (over an hour). But, the dispatcher in New Jersey treated us as if we were trying to steal from the company because we didn't have $1,200 cash on us. He had a very bad attitude & that is absolutely not how you treat a customer. But, those are very small things. Two uncouth people don't ruin a company. Everything else was gold. I would highly recommend this company. They took care of me & my things very well. read more

Full truck of my residential furniture and belongings was to be delivered to my new Belford, NJ residence on June 22nd 2013 between 9 & 11 am. Truck never showed. I called corporate number and representative and manager. I got no answer when called. Never heard from Prime. StIll waiting for my furniture. This is NO WAY TO DO BUSINESS. read more

When it turned out that my adding additonal stuff to the move necessitated a second van to show up that day, the crew leader ordered one and it arrive within a couple of hours, and the move-out occurred on schedule. This a tribute both to the crew leader's being aware and proactive and the company's responsiveness and flexibility. Second, when an onyx tabletop was fractured as sometimes happens despite the greatest amount of care, their adjustment was a fair one. read more

We attempted to use Prime Hawaiian Movers to move our furniture from Wisconsin to the Big Island in July 2015. They contracted out the different portions of the move and sent Hercules to pick up our things and drive it to California. The sofa and leather chair were destroyed while still on the mainland and they never even let us know. The drivers that delivered our things on the Island said they were surprised they didn't let us know b/c they were aware of it when our things were in California. The Hercules driver dropped a box from a previous pickup that contained liquids and put it on top of our leather furniture. Since the furniture was destroyed, we made a claim back in September 2015 and Claim Service International (CSI), the claim service that Prime Hawaiian Movers uses, refuses to respond to repeated attempts to contact them and it is now March of 2016. It is quite clear that neither company cares about professionalism or accepting responsibility for their mistakes. read more

Prime Van Lines recently moved my fiance and I from NY to TX. Gil came to our apartment to determine our needs and to give us an estimate. He was very patient and answered all of our questions, and addressed any concerns we had. For instance, prior to the move we needed to store all of our furniture for one month. Gil coordinated it for us at no additional cost. On the day of the move, our furniture was carefully wrapped and moved from the apartment. Each item was tagged with a number which corresponded with a list that the movers documented it on. Once everything was moved out, we were given a copy of the itemized list of our belongings. When our belongings arrived in TX they were unpacked and the furniture re-assembled by the movers. Each piece was checked off the itemized list to make sure everything was accounted for. We were very happy with Prime Van Line's service and professionalism and highly recommend them! read more
