I made a reservation on line at this location because it was the closest to me and I could rent a storage there but the reservation was somehow changed to another UHaul dealer nearly 10 miles further away, at $.99 a mile that's almost $20 I am payments for no reason. The other location in Plainville was great but I am now paying more for no reason and I had to listen to this horrible woman tell me over and over again how wrong I was even though the email from UHaul clearly showed the reservation at that location. This is the first negative UHaul experience I have ever had after atleast a dozen time renting so I have to assume it is this location and more so this rude woman and not UHaul itself. Avoid this location at all costs. They lost my rental business on the truck and the self storage unit because of their rude and nasty attitude that I and no one else should have to endure. Give a call to Brian or Amber at UHaul in Plainville and they'll take good care of you like they did for me.

I rented a large outside 10x15 unit. The grounds are very clean and well-kept. The prices are excellent, and they even provide multiple-month discounts if you do long-term renting. During the end of my rental, they even helped me to get into my facility while I was out of the country and were gracious enough to go out of the way to answer my many phone calls ---- much more work than any other storage facility would have done. During that time, the credit card I had on file lapsed. I wasn't diligent in reading business emails during my recovery as my clients all knew I was incapacitated and not working. As soon as my account was more than 30 days overdue, did they call me - a 7-year customer - to let me know my account was overdue? No. Instead they put my storage account on AUCTION STATUS and then charged me $190 in fees to remove it. The local manager would not entertain my requests for fee waivers. She then accused me of yelling at her (which I did not). Is this how you treat 7-year customers? I guess when you don't give a crap about your customers. Yes. Well - they've now lost one. I strongly advise anyone considering storage needs in Hamden to avoid this company like the plague.

I needed to store some items over a 3-4 month period in this area. I didn't want to use the storage…read moreservice that I'd used in the past based on recommendations. I looked online and came across Southbury self storage. Their website was so simple and direct that I didn't believe it. There was a sale on unit rentals when I was inquiring and it was a much more reasonable pricing than I'd seen elsewhere. I called and spoke to Paul and then Rob. Anytime you call you get an answering service where they call you back after you leave a message or someone picks up right away. I've experienced both and they are prompt about communicating. Paul and Rob are also very nice. You can literally set up an account, rent a unit, and access your stuff without dealing with anyone. The parking lot is well lit as is the facility itself. They provide dollies, carts, and such to move your items. They also have a broom and pail for cleaning up any mess you've creates while moving. If you are looking for a private, safe, clean facility that is monitored without being intrusive, this is your sign to go for it. My items were retrieved at the end of the rental and wete perfectly intact and in the same condition they were left. I've no complaints and can't refer them enough.
