Bubble tea again? Yep, there's another one! Greatea is located in John's Creek, GA. It's only been open for a few months but it's definitely leaving a lasting impression on the community. It's has a steady stream of customers who are coming in for their great tea (see what I did there?). The interior isn't too big but it's very cozy and I can see why people come here to relax and study. The drinks are either milk based or traditional tea based. They have popular options for each. They also serve some special drinks that fall in neither of the first 2 categories. Didn't get a chance to try those though. Based on recommendations I went for the fruit teas which are very good to say the least. They container actual pieces for fruit inside the tea that you can eat after words. The fruit tea comes in a high quality cup made of sturdy plastic, it feels really premium. The only real downside is the wait for the drinks, some will take up to 10+ minutes depending what you order. Guess patience is the price for quality. If you're not in a rush, then no biggie. Overall the tea was great! Definitely coming back to try the other options. read more

My parents live about a five minute drive away from here, and if it wasn't for one of my closest friends, I would have never made it here. She told me this was her favorite bubble tea spot in the area by far, and it was because of their cheese naigai topping. And the girl knows her cheese! I REALLY like the selection of teas. They have all sorts of teas from milky teas, to purist teas (no milk, just the tea - perfect for me), and all sorts of toppings. The naigai is definitely interesting and some other places may call it "milk foam". The cheese naigai is the best in my honest opinion, but they do have other flavors like matcha naigai. One of the other things that I love is that they have crystal boba. I do not like regular boba. Tapioca (or anything of that glutinous/sticky rice consistency or flour) fills me up and also clogs the GI. Legit I kid you not. It's why I stay away from sticky rice things. So as much as I like my brown sugar boba, I really try not to eat it lest I want to pay for it later. CRYSTAL boba is more like a jelly but harder. And it's not too sweet either. GreaTea has FOUR flavors of it too! I've tried the cherry blossom one and it's not too bad, the flower flavor isn't overpowering at all. Because of COVID, they've taken away indoor seating which is totally fine by me. They have enough sidewalk space and have put out some small tables. Not to mention, the parking lot nearby is almost always empty so my bestie and I just park our cars like the good ol' days in High School and just sit and talk to each other with the doors open. I will say, the annoying thing is having younger kids (either HS or college) not wear masks and I know they're not vaccinated bc it hasn't been passed for their age group. It's putting the owners and other patrons at risk which is just...very disappointing and annoying. Then again, it's not something that the owners can do anything about. Greatea is a cute little bubble tea cafe located off Medlock Bridge Road in a plaza with Jet's Pizza, Cafe Q, and Ivy Falls Day Spa. They have a very limited menu, but they do a good job, offering just bubble tea (traditional, greetea, oreo, taro), Super Fruitea, and "special drinks," such as matcha and oolong teas. We got the traditional, greetea, and oreo bubble teas and the Naigai Cherry Blossoms Oolong tea. Unfortunately, they were out of the matcha when we visited. We were very satisfied with their teas. The cups that the teas are in are of higher quality than other bubble tea places and everything is made to order. Service is friendly and helpful with recommendations. The interior is nicely decorated. There are limited tables and seating though, so I wouldn't recommend big groups. Overall, I would recommend Greatea as a place to try, especially since it is more unique than other bubble tea places around the area. read more

Are you serious?! Why did it take so long for me to try you?! Taro Bubble Tea: Has REAL pieces of taro in it. The boba is perfectly soft/chewy/sweet. The drink itself is wonderfully indulgent and any taro lover will drink this to the last sip. Super Fruitea: As pictured, has real fruit in it. I grabbed this one for my husband. He takes a big swig and looks in the cup... WHOOPSIE, I forgot he's allergic to kiwi. HAHAHA. So........my father in law drank it instead, and he finished every last drop. I snuck a sip before giving to my husband, and boy was I tempted to keep both drinks for myself. Not overly sweet, you can actually taste all the different notes and components in the drink, and overall, just a very solid, unique drink I haven't seen anywhere else. Presentation/Packaging: OMG Their cups and even their lids are of high quality! The super fruitea even had a cute little red heart stopper/topper! Y'all, these guys know bubble tea and teas in general. Two thumbs up in my book. I've been eyeing the opening of this cafe for a little while now. Been driving by this place like a bubble tea stalker. I went by a couple of weeks ago but they weren't open for business yet. Looks like they have opened their doors. I'm not sure if it's a soft opening or officially open but would've loved to see a big "We're now open" sign out front. This Asian/ tea cafe is located right off of Medlock Bridge Rd. It sits in a small plaza a little way up the hill so it's hard to see their open light sign unless you're in the plaza. Cute interior. It's small but has high ceilings. They have a couple of sets of couches with a small table in-between. Gives it a bit more intimate comfy setting like you're in someone's living room. They also have a long wooden table against the other wall. The decor is simple but clean and inviting. I didn't see stuff in their clear containers on the right which looks like it could later to be used for maybe some desserts? The menu is simple which I appreciate. Other cafes that have a bajillion options sometimes has me wondering if they are a "jack of all or master of none." They have hot teas, iced teas, traditional bubble milk tea (which I think most folks are used to from other places), special house bubble milk tea, and taro milk tea. Got the traditional bubble milk tea, special house bubble milk tea, and an iced grapefruit tea. Everything is made fresh and made to order so keep that in mind if you start wondering where you drink is. There was one gentleman working the front and making the drinks so remember patience is a virtue. I like their version of both bubble milk teas. Loved the texture of the bubbles/boba here. Fresh and perfect level of chewiness that I like. Really enjoyed all three drinks. I'm super particular aka picky on my bubble milk tea but this place is solid. They know what their doing and you can tell it's not their first rodeo. I also really enjoyed the iced grapefruit tea! So refreshing and you can really taste the tea. I liked how it had fresh slices of grapefruit in the drink as well as the slender tall plastic cup it came in. I saved the slender plastic cup so that I can reuse it at home and at work. Honestly my favorite bubble tea EVER. Taro 50% sweet with Boba is my go-to drink, the hubby gets the coffee one with coffee jelly. The people are very friendly and helpful, they'll walk you through your options if you've never had these before. I giggled the first few times they asked if I'd had their taro one before (it has actual taro in it, a purple sweet potato, so good). But someone unaware sure might be surprised! I heard that there was a new bubble tea spot in Johns Creek (thanks for the tip, Tiffany!), and less than an hour later, I was pulling into the parking lot! This area has been in need of bubble tea for some time (unless I am missing a spot - let me know!). Easy to find, lots of parking. When I walked inside, there were a few people seated, enjoying their drinks, and there was no line. The shop was cute and quiet. The atmosphere would be good for doing some work or catching up with friends. Cute interior. When I stepped to the register, I informed the cashier that I liked everything and asked for her recommendation. She shared that the Naigai Peach Incense Oolong was her favorite, and I asked for one of those. She shared that all drinks are made fresh - no powders. My tea was ready in about three minutes, and it was fantastic. There was a wonderful foam at the top and instructions that advised sipping and not using a straw, so that you can get the flavor of the foam and the tea at the same time. The foam had a salty tangy flavor that balanced out the soft sweetness of the peach tea. The tea was not overly sweet, but was smooth with hints of fruit. It was a refreshing and unique afternoon snack. I will definitely return. I am eager to try the classic milk tea, the taro milk tea, and the grapefruit tea. Lots of fun things on the menu to explore. So good!! Im beyond happy to find yet another place in Johns Creek that makes excellent bubble tea. Do yourselves a favor and come get some of this goodness!! The location of the shop can be tricky. The store is part of the business complex, but all the way on the left corner and pushed back more than the rest of the stores. The inside is nice and cozy, with mostly large group seating (large couches, benches). There is also outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. We tried 4 things so far, so Ill list them from best to good (cuz nothing we had here was even close to bad) Cheese Tea with tapioca - omg YUM. Seriously creamy and rich. It has a hint of salt in the cream so it makes it taste SO delicious, like a salted caramel. Its like a more delicious version of the sea cream you find in other tea stores, only this one comes pre-mixed. The boba was super squishy and cooked perfectly. Although, the regular sugar was a bit sweet for me. So I recommend less sugar or half sugar. So far my fav bubble tea in town!! Greatea milk tea - this one was also very good, it was just like a toned down, less salty version of the cheese tea. It was just less rich and less sweet, and I guess less 'cheesy'. Perfect for when you need a great tasting, standard milk tea. Taro milk tea - So delicious! There is real taro mixed into this milky drink, making it all the more yum yummy. The taro is smooth and not too sweet, so you are safe getting the regular sugar on this one. This drink will, however, leave you feeling a lot fuller so just be aware when you order it heh. Lemon Yakuit - Tastes just like the yakuit you love, with a generous flavor of lemon. Tbh yakuit tastes much better with lychee or kiwi, but this one is definitely worth a try if you're looking for something tart and refreshing. This is honestly my new favorite bubble tea spot!! My friend and I took our 3 kids here for an afternoon treat. It's a cute place located in an oddly accessible parking lot in a mixed-use strip mall. Lots of parking, but tricky to get in and out of the parking lot. My friend and I both ordered the traditional bubble teas and we were pleasantly surprised to discover that they customize your sweetness levels. I ordered mine with no sugar, and it was still mildly sweetened and quite tasty. The boba were a little softer than I like them - usually I prefer mine with a bit more toothsome bite - but they still held their shape and were not a total mush. Two of the kids ordered the Joy Ice Cream milk series and were thrilled with their Double Strawberries drinks. These drinks are essentially strawberry milk with strawberry ice cream and fresh strawberries, served with a spoon-straw. Very pretty and tasty drinks. The third kid ordered the Oreo Bubble Tea - which was essentially a traditional bubble tea topped with whipped cream and Oreo crumbles. It looked scrumptious and tasty like a decadent dessert. All orders are placed at the counter, and you are given a pager that buzzes when the drinks are ready for pickup. Even though there was a steady stream of people, our drinks were ready in less than 10 minutes. This is a solid addition to the bubble tea community. Cool place! Great for families, friends, groups, or individuals of all kinds. Location: When driving up, the entrance is shifted backwards a little from its neighbors. It's on the corner of a strip leaving multiple parking spots open nearby. Atmosphere: Bubble tea cafes are always cute inside! This one is a bit small for what they are trying to achieve, so I'd recommend it more if you're grabbing your treat on the go. There is one fairly large table where a group was really enjoying themselves playing a game. There are also couches that make a great place to hang out or work/study. We overflowed to the small tables outside, but I noticed there was a high table that had a half-finished drink on it for the entire time we were there - I wish the staff removed the drink so newcomers knew the table was available. The drink options: There are not as many options as I'm used to seeing at a bubble tea place, but you definitely have enough to be pleased. The Greatea with bubbles is the perfect sweetened milk tea. I can't believe it took me this long to try Greatea, but in my defense, it's a bit out of the way for me. Nonetheless, I was in the area and decided to finally try Greatea and I was impressed! I have try the following drinks: -Greatea milk tea -Cheese Milk Tea Out of the two, I definitely prefer Greatea Milk Tea. The flavor was strong, it wasn't too sweet and the flavors were really good. Sadly, I didn't find the drinks here great. As a group, I got to try 4 drinks which were all unique sounding but lacking something. First of all, our drinks ranged from $6 to 8, which is on the pricier side for bubble tea. Tried their lychee fruit tea but it was bland. I did get 50% sugar but it really had no taste of lychee in it. Their oreo manor one tasted like thai tea and chocolate milk, which is a good flavor but strange with boba. My friends tried a coffee drink which she enjoyed and a mango blueberry smoothie was was just okay. Their layout and decor was fun but seating is tight. Luckily they have outdoor seating good for larger groups of 5. Overall for the cost of the drinks, I felt like the drinks were all missing something or not quite "there" yet. I love me some Greatea! Greatea is located on the edge of the same plaza as Jet's plaza and Do Re Mi music school. While they do serve your traditional bubble teas such milk, taro, and Oreo they also have a set of amazing Fruiteas to choose from. Tucked away in an obscure corner of the business complex. Greatea is definitely an under appreciated boba shop that is looked over compared to other big name boba spots scattered around the area. Boyfriend told me about this place a while back since he used to come right when they opened up for the first time. I guess we never really realized how close it was to us until one day the boba craving just became unbearable. I usually prefer certain boba shops over others, so I was a little wary when boyfriend started to hype this place up for me. It's a very tiny shop that really place an importance on the quality of tea over anything else. I absolutely love the taro milk tea. Made with real taro, it's a creamy and smooth drink that isn't too overwhelming nor underwhelming. No powder flavoring here!! Which is definitely a huge bonus for me! I understand the powder flavoring can help speed up the drink making process, but any place that really takes the time to make quality tea is up there in my books! I usually get the milky drinks over the fruit teas. Like most places the fruit tea is nothing too mind blowing. You can taste the green tea leaves in the fruit drinks which puts them on another level compared to other boba shops whose fruit drink taste like overpriced fruit juice. Definitely worth a visit compared to other big names boba stores. Just be wary of their store hours! This is the BEST bubble tea shop we have ever been to. We have been going here almost every week for over a year now. The service is extremely good (super kind and wonderful staff, barely any wait time) and the atmosphere is always nice and low-key. Our favorite order by far is the Greatea bubble tea with traditional bubbles and mango popping bubbles. The creaminess of the tea is wonderful, and it adds to the sweetness (we recommend getting the bubble tea at 50% sweetness). I finally found a new boba tea gem on town. Their drinks are different than other boba tea places. Their tea has this yellow cream (taste like custard) that is really good. I also tried this super fruit tea which include a variety of fruit with tea in it. Tastes very refreshing, I ate all the fruit afterwards. One of the best, if not the best, bubble tea place in the Atlanta region. The interior is super cute and cozy, and it's a great place to meet up with friends or to just sit and relax. The signature Greatea drink is creamy and flavorful, unlike some other places that have watered down tea. The taro milk tea has real taro in it, which I love and recommend! I personally would pass on the cheese milk tea next time because it just tasted too creamy for my liking. The eggette I got seemed like it wasn't made with enough batter because some of the egg bubbles weren't fully formed, however the texture was soft, fluffy, and slightly chewy the way I like it. I finally got to try this place after forever even though I live like, across the street. A classic tea shop owned by a nice Chinese family. I think this shop is a chain but I'm not entirely certain. The shop itself is small on the inside, but decorated with some of the cutest interior art pieces and mural designs. I find it a perfect location to relax with friends or study and getting work done. I can't get specifically because I wanted to try the overly hyped cheese milk tea I've been seeing on social media and this is one of the only locations in Atlanta with it on the menu. It definitely did not disappoint. I'M ALL ABOARD THE CHEESE TEA TRAIN. It may sound weird at first but the mix of sweet and salty is just right, almost like eating sea salt chocolate. I gave them 4 star only their friendly but the service are so slow you probably need to wait 15mins for you order but it's worth it. There's not much seating outside aside from two tables but the inside is well decorated you might stay in to enjoy your order. The teas are great and pretty refreshing without the sugar overdose. The person taking my order was a little confused, but I told her, trust me, I like the pairing. And I still stand by my custom order, it came out really well that I drank the whole thing. None of the aftertastes of the seeds were present so I'm glad they removed those before making the tea. The "Cheese" tea; is a lost in translation for them. It's more like a whipped cream cheese or butter cream cheese topping even though the employees don't know how to explain it well. All you need to know is that it tastes great and you should order one especially the strawberry cheese one. Summary; A pretty quaint place to hang out with a small group. Though lots of the menu items might be a "lost in translation" sort of thing. The owners are nice and won't really charge additional if you make a special request. The interior is nicely decorated: high ceilings, dark, wooden tables lined with plush, gray benches. Seating is a bit limited, which shouldn't be a problem since most customers order drinks and leave. It was quiet the Wednesday afternoon we visited, and seemed like a decent place to study. The staff are Chinese, but are fluent in English as well, if it's your first time ordering bubble tea. They serve a small selection of bubble teas, milk teas, slushies, and fruit teas, with a few snacks. The flavors are also a bit more refined with choices such as rose, cherry blossom, and green mountain. If eating flowers and plants is your thing, then Greatea is the place for you. I can't vouch for the bubble and milk teas, but the fruit teas were fantastic. They were fresh and light, the citrus-y flavors really came through and weren't overpowered by the sweetness. You still get that faint bitterness of the tea base, more so than at other cafes. They make sure to emphasize the freshness of the ingredients, to the point they stuff the teas with slices of grapefruit and grapes so you have a visual reminder every sip. Even the cups for the fruit tea are bourgeoise, tall, slender and sturdier than the flimsy plastic cups you find at other spots. I went here last night for the first time with some friends because we were in need to try a new boba place. Let me just say, I have no regrets, and if anything, I cannot wait to come back here! The interior of the place is super cute and aesthetic! They have a nice piano towards the cashier, and nice sofas and wall decor~ I am in love with the very modern design of this place! Service was great. The girl at the cashier was very helpful with any questions my friends and I had. She was very cute, and helped us choose drinks. I ended ordering a greatea milk tea, and it went way above my expectations. The tapioca, ice level, sugar, everything was amazing! I was seriously impressed. I am looking forward to trying their other items, like their fruit teas. I am in love with the menu. Those overwhelming menus you encounter at other milk tea places can get frustrating. I'm so excited for this bubble tea place to have opened! JC is seriously lacking in good bubble tea places. Snow Mountain is cheap, but cannot be compared in quality and favor to Greatea. I got their Greatea Milk Tea with bubbles, which is different than the plain bubble tea. The Greatea one has this yellow cream around the cup, which is very similar to the cake cream used in HoneyLemon drinks (oreo milk tea). The cream is just sweet enough and adds great flavor to the already sooo creamy and flavorful tea. The tea is rich-- like it was made from real tea and real cream. The boba was so soft and chewy. Best taro milk tea in Atlanta. Their Taro Milk tea includes smooth and soft chunk real taro in black milk tea. I come here every week to get tea for my sister and myself. I usually custom 0% sugar, but the drink is still at the appropriate sweet level since their boba and taro cooked with sugar. A hidden milk tea gem in Johns Creek. As a huge milk tea connoisseur, whenever I see a milk tea place that I have not heard of before, I know I have to go. I dropped by Greatea at around 8pm, when it was pretty empty. I ordered the Greatea Large size with boba. In terms of the tea itself, it was pretty good! It had a very tea flavor with some subtle sweetness which I thought was done well. The service here was very kind, and the prices here were not too expensive. My only complaint is that their boba is extremely bland and not pleasant to chew. Something needs to change about their boba, because in my opinion it made the drink much more difficult to enjoy. Went to Greatea last week with my friend after hearing raving reviews about their signature Greatea drink ($3.99/regular). I should note that I'm not a big fan of tea in general so I typically prefer "bubble tea" that has no hint of tea (i.e. Quickly's honeydew milk tea as a reference). Even though the Greatea has some hint of tea, it's not at overwhelming amounts. So I genuinely enjoyed it. The drink has sweetened condensed milk (which I'm a huge fan of from Vietnamese coffee). This is probably the first boba drink that I've had that uses condensed milk. And the tapioca is fresh and soft unlike other places. I usually don't order my drinks with tapioca but was recommended to do so and I definitely did not regret it! Greatea is tucked in the corner, not easily visible from the road. The interior is very well decorated with large tables, couches (great for groups), and a piano near the register. The menu offers various types of drinks and food, all reasonably priced. I'll definitely would like to try other items on their menu next time. read more
