My experience here wasn't necessarily bad...it's just that you could have a better one at Olive Garden for half the price. They were out of chicken for Alfredo, so they offered me steak as an alternative and then drastically up charged me for it. In a way I feel like that should have been a no cost upgrade m since it was their fault for being out of what I ordered. Staff was friendly and service was fine overall, I just don't think this place is a particularly good value. This place is an absolute gem - and you'd never know about it as you drove by in sleepy little Long Lake. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant after recently moving to Long Lake, and I chose it to celebrate my birthday. I let the host know it was a special occasion when I was seated, but unfortunately, the experience left much to be desired. After being seated, I waited 30 minutes before anyone acknowledged me or took my order. When someone finally came by, I placed both my drink and food order right away. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, the breadbasket with oil and balsamic vinegar, the grilled mushroom and gorgonzola salad, and the bucatini rosa. The Cosmo was excellent--perfectly balanced and well made. However, the breadbasket only came with one piece of bread, even though the menu indicated it included two. The wait for my food was unusually long. It took over an hour for my salad to arrive, though I will say it was delicious and generously portioned. About 20 minutes after that, my pasta was served--but by then I was already quite full from the salad. My server had mentioned she would bring more bread, but unfortunately it never came. Later in the evening, she acknowledged that she had heard it was my birthday and, in light of the long wait times, offered me a complimentary dessert of my choice. I opted for a slice of chocolate cake to take home, as I had barely touched my pasta and requested a box. However, I later discovered I had been charged for the cake. They were very busy, and I didn't feel like waiting around to have it corrected--perhaps I misunderstood the offer, though it was disappointing. As a solo diner, I believe a bit more attentiveness goes a long way. Dining out alone, especially on a birthday, can be a vulnerable experience, and I had hoped for something more welcoming. Instead, I felt largely ignored throughout the evening. Overall, while there were a few highlights, such as the cocktail and the quality of the food, the long delays and lack of service made this a rather disheartening experience. read more

What a great spot for dinner and drinks! Stumbled upon this place as we were in the area for an apple orchard and got hungry. I was craving pasta and this place came up. We didn't have reservations but were able to get a seat. Service was great and we had great recommendations I loved my pasta dish with clams and felt it was such a great sick surprisingly light. My husband dish was so so so good as well. The sausage in the pasta was beyond tasty and was exactly what he was looking for. My drink which I can't remember the name was super good. They give you complimentary bread and that bread was delicious paired with olive oil and balsamic. I wish the basket had more on an assortment of bread and crackers as that would make it stand out even more. We went for our 10th anniversary. We were the first in with a reservation. We were the last to receive any acknowledgement, drinks or food. We had to reach out to other servers to get help as we could not get their attention. We felt absolutely invisible. We did not expect special service but at least comparable service to others. My experience here was not great. So 4 of us had reservations at 6:30pm on a Sunday. The menu looked great, but I try to eat healthy, and other than salads there really was nothing without butter, cream or cheese. So I order the shrimp pesto linguine but asked to replace the shrimp with chicken. They say they are out of chicken!!!! The linguini comes, and sure it was green, but it was not pesto. It was cream base. Probably loaded with butter. I ate it and it was tasteless truly. The dish description should say it's a cream based pesto because pesto is usually olive oil, herbs and nut based. My friend asks for bread for the table and they had run out of bread. My friend ordered the cannoli pasta and they were out of it!! My husband did love his Parmesan chicken and I tasted his tomato sauce, that was great. Our Calamari appetizer was also very good. DINING DISASTER - NEVER GOING BACK What has happened to this place? It used to be a go-to for us...great food and great service. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The trade-off was ambiance: the tables for two are awful. In a crowded row where you are constantly bumped by other patrons and staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We visited on Saturday, September 28th 2024. It will be our last visit. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Despite several open tables (for four) along the windows, we were again dropped in a terrible table for two.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then we waited. And waited. And waited for service. We were finally able to order a bottle of wine, then waited several more minutes for it to be delivered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Meantime, no one seemed to know how to operate the thermostat. Patrons were FREEZING.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is no exaggeration: a couple who brought their elderly mother had to cover her in cloth napkins. The staff was poorly trained and poorly coordinated. They were snipping at one another from across the restaurant. One of the more tenured wait staff stood behind me and bellowed: YOU GUYS NEED TO GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! Our server would randomly appear and not seem to have an understanding of his job. We both ordered Caprese Salads. They arrived promptly and were good. Then we waited another 30 minutes for our entree to arrive. We each ordered one of the two evening specials, assuming the kitchen would know how to prepare them. Apparently not. Meanwhile, we watched no fewer than three tables seated AFTER us receive their food first. One family of four appeared to be relatives of two servers. They received 90% of staff focus and the rest of us simply had to wait. The server finally apologized for "the kitchen being backed up," and offered us a free dessert. The last thing we wanted was to spend another moment in Primo's Plates and Pours. He should have offered a refund of part of our meal. But again, he had little clue what it meant to wait tables. Why the rant here? We scheduled through Open Table. I intended to leave this review there. But Primo Plates and Pours cancelled our Open Table reservation two hours after we returned home last night. Surely this was done to prevent me having a chance to share this story of average food and terrible service. So long, Primo. read more

Came here to celebrate a belated father's day with the dad-in-law who lives nearby. Walked in around 5:45 but could not be seated inside due to reservations on the books - so make reservations are recommended. They were able to seat us outside. It was a bit cool, but tolerable. The server was attentive even through we were her only outdoor table and it did indeed get very busy inside. We had to ask to turn down the music which was JAMMING. Being with my father-in-law, who has some hearing loss, really makes me question why restaurants insist on the loud music, and why they are more willing to make accommodations. Thankfully, this place was able to figure it out and turned it down to a tolerable level. I'm quite sure the neighbors were grateful. I had an old fashioned - I asked for bourbon and not brandy, it came with brandy. It is also the old school Wisconsin style, which I do not love. The "and pours" had me thinking there would be a better beer list than there was. The bruschetta was exceptional - probably some of the best I have ever had. The margherita pizza was just okay. Crust was very good, there was too many toppings though - sort of overwhelmed the crust. Wife and the man of the hour both had pasta that they liked - I cannot remember what though. Anna was our server and she was fabulous! We sat outside the patio was shaded and the weather was prefect with a nice breeze. My husband got the Meat Balls and Spaghetti and said they were good and had a little kick so spice. His favorite was the bread and I agreed it was warm and had just enough crackle when you tore it apart and soft at the same time. They give you a mixture of olive oil, balsamic, and cheese to dip your bread in and it was delicious!! I got the Alfredo with pesto added it was soo cream and the flavor was on point. We also got the Garden or house salad can't remember what it was called and shared it. We got balsamic dressing and the lemon slice to squeeze on added just the right demotion to the salad flavor. This is a tiny Italian restaurant with a very friendly staff in a strip mall in a town I can barely find without a map. This place can get packed. Not just on the weekend. I have no idea how I actually found this place the first time. I think a neighbor mentioned them? I'd recommend it if you're looking for something with a mom and pop feel where they food is good and the ambiance is casual. I ordered that app, a salad, and a pasta and OMG I was stuffed and had to take half of it home......so very good value and a good date place to share an app and salad and save room for the main. Intimate setting with a great half off wine bottles deal on Tuesday! I had the pappardelle with veal Bologna's and my girlfriend had the Strozzapreti Primacera. The pappardelle was a little gummed together into clumps...it is a hard pasta to cook properly. The sauce was delicious though. Rich and hearty and meaty. Portions were very good too. My girlfriend's primavera was also excellent with a nice mix of flavors including meat and veggies. We like this place a lot. First time there and it happen to be for Resturant Week 2017. Wanted to experience a different restaurant venue from City to Suburban location dining. Smaller place but yet a very cozy atmosphere and has a very nice decor. Our server was very knowledgeable and her beverage and entrée. Made our menu choices easier to pick from. Soon after our main course came the Manager Tony came over to introduced himself and ask about the service. Nice little gesture ....Which most resturant owner doesn't do that anymore. TL;DR - make the drive. dont leave without the cheesecake. Its not a hidden gem to the locals- flocking from Wayzata/Orono/Minnetonka or those Long Lake house wives (shout out Delano haaaay giiirrllls). Locally owned, operated by young entrepreneurs equipped with family recipes. This place make me feel nostalgic for a time that I am too young to know. The drift of chanel No.5, Hermes scarves, and those power ties at the table of 4 to my left is out with their neighbors after a long day downtown, and sharing a bottle of wine to my right is a family night out, and smiles everywhere tells me - I am not the only one. 1. Ceasar Salad- okay okay okay.okay.kay...otay. I know...I am just here to say. Of all the over dressed, wilted, thoughtless ceasar salads I have endured over my life time. THIS IS THE BEST ONE. Crispy salad, light but flavorful dressing, perky - not over handled, parm, salt and pepper, lemon squeeze, and portioned correctly. 2. MY KRYPTONITE - Bucatini Rosa- guanciale (think bacon bits), peas and spicy rosa sauce. I alway ask for it extra spicy and add chicken. freshly shaved parm. Is this dish unique? not necessarily. But you get a healthy portion, and the chicken for me really rounds the dish out. I always have leftovers. I did not speak to my husband for en entire evening when he ate mine. THAT GOOD. 3. Chicken Parm - My dad is a 'picky' eater when it comes to dining out, and ontop of that- noodles. Hes not a spaghetti eater. The fact that its hearty enough for a meal and some for later, chicken parm is crispy, seasoned, hearty/well supported sauce, and good ratio of noodles...AND MY DAD says its the BEST? Legit. Stamp of approval every. single. time. 4. Brussel Sprouts- I like the red wine vinegar approach, but I really like that umami sweet, tart, roasted, salty, crunchy. My wife and I had a $40 Groupon for this place in Long Lake. A small place in a strp mall. We walked in about 4:30 on the Friday before Labor Day and we were the only ones there. Our waiter/hostess was super nice and I ordered a Fresh Squeezed IPA to start us off with some $14 mussels, which were aweesome. There were about 25 of them in a white wine sauce with some fantastic buttered and grilled bread. So good! I also got a Caesar salad with anchovies on the side. I love the little tiny fishes. The salad was fantastic. A must if you go here. Not bad for $5. I got the supreme pizza with light cheese for my entree. I only wish there was more protein on there for a supreme, but the crust was solid and crispy. Great place, I would never pay full price for dinner here, but they had some great happy hour specials as well with 1/2 appetizers. Great dinner. read more

I eat at a lot of excellent restaurants in the greater Twin Cities area and rarely have an experience compelling enough to take the time to write a glowing review. But I must say, emphatically. Primo Plates and Pours was one of the finest dining experiences I have had in Minnesota, and our server Nathan certainly was one of the best I have had anywhere ever. This place just does everything perfectly. The ambiance, the food, the service: exquisite!!!!!!!! These exclamation points cannot sufficiently convey how hard this place rocks. I won't bore you with the particulars of our mouth watering smorgasbord, nothing disappointed, two highlights: the bread, hot damn! To die for. And the side of asparagus I had, my WORD. Write home about good, dream about years later good. All the staff were super helpful and knowledgeable, and Nathan is downright legendary. Great place to go with the family or on a date, I will definitely be returning soon!!! Hats off to the chefs and proprietors also, very tasteful across the board! Side note, super cool outdoor seating option available we would have checked out too if it wasn't like a hundred today... :) Oh, I almost forgot to mention, the side salad they had was one of the fanciest most delicious side salads I have ever seen. I am not sure about quality of food because we didn't have a chance to eat any really. We had a Friday night planned with a group of friends. Made a reservation in advance. Muscles were recommended to us to start with. They were sour. Very sour. Which wasn't a surprise to our waiter. That seemed a bit odd that she didn't even say anything to apologize or remediate situation. She then advised to try pizza for appetizer. How can you make pizza bad? Well, apparently pizza with hair in it isn't the best solution. It was left untouched at that point. They were coming out to apologize and asking not to leave a bad review. Many places give larger portions, but it really is just enough, especially with the huge, spicy meatballs. They would make a great sandwich in the not spicy famous red sauce, a perfect balance. I had a bite of tiramisu delish, but the cheesecake was highly praised. No exaggeration about its awesomeness. i think it's the lemon taste, but there is a white covering with a lot of flavor too.
