I had a wonderful experience at Spasso. The service was fantastic and everyone was so friendly and attentive. The inside was more casual, which I really liked. It also looked like they do a lot of online orders because there was a steady flow of pickups while we were there. I ordered the salmon and it was so so good. It was honestly one of the best salmon dishes I've had in a while. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful and it came out perfectly cooked and very fast. No matter what, Spasso is our wonderful consistent Italian restaurant. We found Spasso on a whim when I was 7.5 months pregnant and it has been "our place" ever since. It was the first place we brought our son out after he was born. The food is consistently delicious- I don't think we've have a bad meal. The staff? Wonderful, kind and treat us like family. Noah, the general manager, always makes a point to stop and say hi when we come in. The staff truly goes above and beyond- they see us walk in and have a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate milk for our little guy ready. We recently brought my family from Illinois here for dinner after getting an eye roll from another restaurant in Wayzata. They had a table ready for us within 15 minutes and were so helpful with my sister-in-law's dietary restrictions. The entire crew commented on how beautiful the restaurant is and how they truly went out of their way to make it a special night. Really, truly, I cannot recommend this place enough. read more

This was our first time here - went for my husband's birthday. I read some reviews trying to decide what to order and honestly was a little nervous seeing what other yelpers had to say. We both ordered wine and had complimentary bread brought to our table. It was good! (who doesn't love bread?) Italian herby bread served warm with butter. We ordered the meatball appetizer which was VERY good, I could have eaten the sauce with a spoon. Husband was a big fan! For dinner, my husband got the Spasso pizza, which he said was good, but floppy. The toppings were too heavy for the thin crust so it was hard to eat a bite without the tomatoes falling off. It was large, definitely enough to split for 2. He said he would try something other than pizza next time, not that it was bad, but just that it was hard to eat. I had the walleye which was PHENOMENAL! The lemon sauce was perfect, the walleye and potatoes were crispy, absolute perfection. I'm sad I couldn't finish it (I blame the bread and meatball for taking up space). Would 100% go back just for that plate alone. Compliments to the chef, it was amazing. Our service was great - the place was pretty full for a Wednesday but we didn't have trouble getting a table. I expected it to be upscale, but it was casual, nothing on the food menu exceeded $30. Lots of kids, I think there was a child under 5 at every table (all well behaved, so no complains there). Overall, would go back to try more on the menu. Some dishes here can be hit or miss and this meal was a miss. I ordered the salmon and caprese salad for delivery. I should have stuck with pasta. The salmon was a little overcooked - I ordered mid-rare and it was medium - but it was still juicy and good. The lemon beurre blanc was really thin and flavorless. The salmon is served on a bed of artichoke which turned out to not be a pleasant taste combination. I ate them separately but not together. The caprese salad was a fail. The tomatoes were anemic and crisp, there were some ripped chunks of fresh mozzarella and three tiny bits of basil. It was sad. I'll return to the dishes I know they do well and skip this one. read more

Second time here. Drinks are always good. We had the calamari app. I loved the red bell peppers on it, but the calamari itself were a little tough, not sure if they set under a heat lamp. Aaron was a wonderful server. I really liked my cheese ravioli but I had a bite of my husband's lasagna and I wish i ordered it instead. The space has a large free parking lot that is easily accessible. It took a while to get our entrees but the appetizers and salads came out fast. Spasso's in Minnetonka Never Disappoints We ended up at Spasso's after realizing that most Excelsior restaurants don't offer free parking--even in their own lots. Spasso's does, and that alone makes it a more welcoming choice. But the real draw is the food. Their menu is consistently excellent, and the "Pick Two" deal for $17 is a standout. I ordered the spaghetti and meatball with a steak salad--both were absolutely delicious. My husband chose the soup and an entrée combo and enjoyed every bite. We couldn't resist dessert, and I'm glad we didn't. The tiramisu was rich and satisfying, and the gelato was smooth and flavorful. My mother got her hair done at Tonka clippers so we had a late lunch here. We sat outside and enjoyed the shade and quiet since she wears hearing aids the inside seating would be too loud for her. Went there for birthday lunch . It was us and another table there but otherwise it was empty. Our server was a nice young guy . Here is the kicker our food took 45 min to come out . It was cold and mediocre not bad or great ( we had burgers shrimp scampi Parmesan chicken sandwich, meatball app. ) the fries were cold, meatball was cold , sandwich was slightly warm, pasta cold. We all ate it because everyone was starving sitting and waiting we didn't want to send it back . But the worst part of the experience was crabby older lady with the attitude who works up front ( manager maybe ) for some reason she brought some of the food and has just the rudest attitude towards us , like we were bothering her with our presence. Service is incredible, everyone is so kind and welcoming. The resteraunt decor is very elegant but overall nothing special, but I don't know a single person who goes to a resteraunt to look at decor. What matters to me is that it's clean and well kept! The food is, of course, incredible. The spaghetti and meatball is always my go-to, but just about everything on the menu is great. We both liked our meals very much. The atmosphere wasn't quite what I was hoping for Valentines Day. There were lots of families there and it didn't have the romantic ambiance I was hoping. The food was good, but included no entree accompaniments...bread, salad, sides, etc. The hosts and servers were casually dressed and the atmosphere wasn't even as "Snazzy" as Cheesecake Factory. It simply wasn't a nice enough place or experience to support the cost. For reference, $75 for 2 entrees (no sides), 2 drinks, 1 greatly over-priced app. The entrees were good enough to be a "maybe" for recommendation, but only if this restaurant steps up their game. read more

Our experience at Spasso was good overall. There was plenty of parking when we arrived and the outdoor ambiance was cute for the location (across from an upscale Holiday station). The service was great, friendly, polite and responsive though it took awhile for our orders to come out. We ordered the watermelon margarita and Bluberry sour summer drinks and wow. The blueberry sour was probably one of my favorite cocktails ever!! I would revisit this restaurant for that specific drink alone, it is a MUST try! The truffle fries were tasty but disappointing, it felt like the Parmesan and parsley took away from the truffle flavor. We also ordered the Bolognese, I would say the sauce was excellent but I would've loved if the noodles were more al dente. As for the steak fondue, I think they did a good job. Finally, we ordered a side of Brussels sprouts which was our least favorite item. While the flavor was lovely, like a sweet/ savory pecan flavor, the Brussel sprouts themselves were soggy. In my opinion, I'd say the restaurant captures flavors very well but there's definitely room for improvement on the execution. read more

We now avoid Spasso. Went here for years before covid and loved this place. Finally re-opened after COVID shut down. Not the same after covid. More limited menu okay if everything was good. Now food can be good but not consistently good. Service hit or miss. Used to have seasoned servers, now young kids some don't have a clue. Today we were seated for what I was hoping to be a nice dinner for two. Greeted by a waitress who took our order for drinks and said we would order appetizers when she came back. While waiting for drinks a young loudmouth kid said looks like I'm your waiter. We said already have a server and put an order in. Apparently he was fighting over tables and just kept talking loudly obnoxious.. I then said we'd thinking we may to leave. He didn't hear me kept talking loudly , I mentioned it again. He didn't hear me kept on loud talking. I finally said "you haven't heard anything I said WE ARE LEAVING". He made some rude comment and walked away. There's lots of windows on this corner of the strip mall. It's a little chilly so be prepared. I got ravioli with red sauce. A very good sauce with some very good ravioli. Basil got the shrimp scampi. I thought it was strange to have chopped tomatoes in it. We got a Caesar salad nice homemade croutons. It could have used more dressing and that's with requesting extra. I thought the bread was odd for an Italian place. It's mulit-grain not white. They melt cheese on the crust giving it an onion look. That's actually what I thought it was. Kuddos for serving butter and not oil with it. We enjoyed our gingerale and iced tea. Natalie was our excellent server. Beautiful atmosphere. Can't wait to go back in the summer. some good, some bad. ordered the ribeye, that came with risotto. Friend ordered the meatball, which was good, but not overwhelming. Same with the hot olives. the problem was with the ribeye. i've had a in my life, and this was not a ribeye. I believe they had a New York steak that they hid underneath the mushroom Bolognese. The Bolognese, mixed with the risotto, was quite tasty. But the steak was tough and chewy like you would expect in a New York strip. A ribeye should be tender... This was far from. big piles of unchewable gristle on all our plates. Again, ribeye doesn't have the heavy gristle, so I'm convinced we had the old switcheroo and didn't get what we paid for. Shame on you, Spasso! my friends and I did not talk about the food, but I think it's telling that both of them left a fair amount of their dinner on the plate, and did not want to take any of it with when asked if they wanted a doggy bag. One of those was the alleged ribeye, and the other was one of their other steaks. we spent nearly $300 between the three of us, making me think that we should've been able to expect a really decent meal. Went here for a girl's night out over the weekend. My friend and I have never been here. We sat out on the beautiful patio they have. It was just the perfect evening for it too. Service was great. Our server was very pleasant. Food was good. We started off with a spasso mule, beer and Parmesan truffle wings. Mule was ok, I've had better ones. The wings were good, the Parmesan taste stood out more than the truffle. We both got the chicken with the Mushroom risotto. Highly recommend getting this dish. Risotto was cooked perfectly, Chicken was tender. It was a well rounded dish. My friend and I had a really good experience here. Stumbled upon spasso as an Italian spot close by and decided to try it! We got the chicken parm and prosciutto pizza. Pizza had less slices of prosciutto than slices of pizza, the bottom was soggy, and the crust was clearly not handmade. Chicken parm came with fettuccine which was chewy and the chicken had some odd pieces attached that we were sure if it was the chicken hammered incredibly thin or maybe something else? Overall not super impressed with the food, won't be back anytime soon. read more

I have spent alot of money at this place and have used their party room twice. For some reason the weekend female bartender had chosen to ignore me at the bar when I was trying to pay my bill and leave. After 20 minutes of laying my credit card on the counter and trying to get her attention the guy next to me saw my situation and he flagged her down and got her to take my payment. The bar was 2/3rds full and not all that busy. This was not the first time this has happened, the other far, far older female bartender has a history of doing this to others and myself. All of this is caught on their cameras and recorded. I wrote them a letter detailing the whole situation and asked them to review the camera footage before I took the social media approach which you see here. Nothing! Their management does not care how the customer gets treated. Its Beyond stupid. Especially since they almost closed for good in 2022. Also the bar rail is extremely unsanitary, cold and uncomfortable. It is aluminum inguts lined up with thousands of gaps and holes where food and bacteria can hide. Spend your money elsewhere where they appreciate customer loyalty and keep a sanitary environment and staff arrogance does not over rule the customers dining pleasure. I did give them one last chance tonight to discuss the letter with the manager and I was told he was to busy to see me. read more
