Sadly, $9.50 for a Ginacotti. 3 Ginacotti's 3 sodas and a large steak fries. 3 sides of sauce which I think were $2 for a small plastic container. All $48 prior to tip. Ginacottis were over fried- so crunchy that they cracked and didn't have any consistency- basically a plate of melted cheese. Fries were ok, but 1/2 long and 1/2 tiny burnt pieces that you get when you use cheap frozen fries. Service was very good. They were terrific. I have been going there since Ginacottis were $1.50. My boyfriend loves it here so he took me last week for dinner. We split wings and then each got one of the pizza in a pocket things. I can't remember what they call them. Wings come with the sauce on the side. I prefer wings to be tossed in the sauce but I quickly joy got used to dipping it in the sauce. The wings were good but they are breaded, which I'm not used to. I ordered my pizza pocket with the sauce on the side. I ordered it with pepperoni and mushrooms. It was very good. I liked it as it was...I didn't even need to dip it in the sauce. Was in the area to have dinner with a friend. I wanted cheesesteaks and she suggested here. I was more tied up in the conversation so didn't look at the menu much, but if I had would have probably ordered something more so than just the basic steak and cheese, but what I got was great. got 2 pizzas today, she did absolutely amazing it wasnt burnt or undercooked like we've had in the past. she was very friendly and patient, after she made her pizzas she came over and immediately helped the counter. I could tell she was young, but she had great customer service skills and had a smile on her face even though it was busy for her. I was positive to not get anything from here if the pizzas were burnt one more time but it's safe to say i will be continuing coming here for pizzas especially on Monday's. Just stopped at Julio's. We go in ever so often because we like ginacotti. Ever since brothers Gina's restaurant in northeast Philly. To my surprise today I had worst service I ever had. We got our drinks fast. Then waited half hour for waiter to take order. They never came. They kept saying they will get us then kept waiting. The restaurant was only half full. Most employees standing around. The one waiter saying to bus boy I don't know what supposed to do or sequence. It was ridiculous there. I walked out with my wife and 4 year old daughter. The order was only going to be two slices hamburger and ginacotti. Nobody there cared about service. I guess that's why it's not as crowded as it used to be. Everything here is very large! Fries are to be shared! Cheese steaks are meant for two meals! Everything here was also very good. We had a party of seven. I had a chicken cheese steak and fries with cheese. Some people got wings, which were meaty and crispy. Someone got a small pizza. That was good, too. Good sauce, melty cheese. I used to go to Julio's a lot as a kid. I remember their curly fries being sooo good. They were battered and had flavor. Well my husband and I haven't been for a few years and ordered the fries, a chicken pizza steak, and a ginacotti. We received a phone call saying they didn't have the toppings I wanted for the ginacotti, so I said a plain one was fine. The order was picked up and there was no ginacotti. We were charged for the ginacotti with toppings (which is extra) and we never received it. I called to ask for a refund for that as I wasn't interested in it any longer. My husband is eating his chicken pizza steak which was dry and sauceless. The chicken tasted like beef and he even found a plastic piece in it. Size of the thing is huge! Compare to others out there but the oil they fried it in needs to be changed. A little dark there my friend and you can taste the oil needs to be swap out. Overall a lot of cheese and there was a lot of meat/steak juice in there. But it's a little bland tasting overall. Had a steak in a pouch here which was delicious, rich, cheesy, and huge. Unfortunately, I have to deduct a star for their mandatory tip/payment system. I called in my order and picked my food up at the counter - no additional service was provided. Nonetheless, when trying to run my card, the kiosk automatically offered numerous tip options that I could not get around until I figured out that I had to enter a "custom tip" and make it 0. This system is clearly designed to squeeze extra money from the customer, even when there was no additional service which warranted a tip. If you were blindfolded before walking into Julio's Famous Pizzeria, and saw it for the first time from inside, you would think you were in a 1950's burger and soda fountain emporium, with period photos of greats like James Dean and Marilyn Monroe, as well as the hot rods of that era plastered on the walls. Lots of paisley formica, too. Definitely not the expected décor for a pizza parlor. Yet, it is fun and it works as part of the entertainment offered in this unusual joint. Their thing is the sandwich pouch. Looking like a half pita, but much thicker, it is an alternative to the standard torpedo roll. It is offered for all sandwiches. It does appear to hold greater volume than a hoagie roll, but the trade off is that it lacks flavor, density or any crustiness. It is basically plain white bread shaped like a sack. I chose to try this with the Italian sweet sausage, pepper and onion grinder I ordered. I also had them throw in a load of banana peppers to add some heat to the project. Service was personal and informative. The dude actually sat across from me to discuss my options in detail when he learned I was a first timer at Julio's. Cool! I quickly discovered that the ingredients in the sammich were great, with high quality sausage, and plenty of pepper, onion and red sauce. However, the pouch was tasteless and did little to add to the experience. It wasn't worth the empty calories, so I ended up leaving most of it in the basket. My word to the wise is to stick with a regular long roll with a crust and a little sour dough flavor. My friends first introduced me to this joint a few years ago, and boy, I was not disappointed. Julio's is famous for their "ginacottis", which are, admittedly, exceptional. Regardless of what I purchased there, however, I was not disappointed: Their cheesesteaks are phenomenal as well as their pizzas, and their side dishes are equally as exquisite and tasteful as their main dishes. Almost everything on their menu is top-notch and you won't be disappointed, not even in the slightest. They really go "all out" for their customers. The entire vibe of the establishment is wonderful, too. It's like a throwback to the 1950s, and is welcoming to people of all age groups.
