Yummy & Clean! I'm always a little wary of pubs, but this spot was great. We stopped in during the week for lunch and ordered at the bar. The staff was helpful, the atmosphere and music were perfect. We ordered the Steak & Ale pie which was delicious. The bathrooms are clean and modern and I'd highly suggest this little spot. Maybe next time I'll come in the evening and try their roof-top patio.

Right on Queensway road rests the Prince Alfred with high ceilings, airy space and dark wooden flooring. They have also recently opened up their rooftop garden with outdoor heating. It is a chilled out place to come enjoy a drink or a meal. Food is sufficient and comes with decent prices. They serve the usual pub grub, but it's not bad. They do such dishes as fish and chips, cottage pie, sausage and mash, steak.

Service, location, libations and food was great. We went back two nights in a row. First night I ordered the cottage pie and it was so good I went back for more but sadly they ran out the second night so I ordered the bangers and mash which didn't disappoint either. My husband ordered steak n eggs beef was well seasoned. Would go back if I'm ever in town again. Cool vibes.c

Came for lunch on boxing and it was crowded typical pub atmosphere. Good portion size on the fish and chips, the steak pie was good.

Good beers and very helpful bartender. Food was good but it is a bit pricey here. Not a disappointment by any means.

We specifically came to try fish and chips, so we were lucky that The Mall Tavern was nearby. Each of us ordered fish and chips, and all of our plates were left nearly empty. My goodness, I have never had better fish and chips than here at The Mall Tavern. The fish was crispy, and the chips were perfectly salted to taste. I appreciate that chips in England are more like potato wedges than classic American french fries. Way less fried and way less salty, so you can enjoy the actual taste of the potatoes! I also ordered a side of Mac and cheese that we all shared. I don't know what kind of cheese(s) was used, but it was the perfect starter to our meal. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding for the first time. It was hard not to order another one!! We came in for late lunch, so the restaurant was empty. I assume they are much busier at lunch and dinner time. I also enjoyed the selection of beer while we waited for our food to come out. Next time I'm in London, I'm returning here immediately.

One eventually came to our table after sitting awhile. I of course had to try the fish n chips. A couple of veggie burgers were ordered and a regular burger. Surprisingly happy hour was still on at 8 o'clock so drinks were ordered. The food all came at the same time and everything was cool. The fish had a nice flavor from the fried batter. To me it was similar to Long John Silvers as far as the batter is concerned, but slightly better quality overall. The fries were standard. The only thing horrible was the very bland mashed green peas. They should be omitted from every pub across the country, but I think it is a traditional item included with the fish. The cocktails were good as well as the price. The sticky toffee pudding was something else I was advised to try while in London. I must admit it was really delicious. It came with a scoop of ginger ice cream and a warm buttery toffee sauce to pour over. It was delightfully warm and sweet and paired well with the ice cream. The cake itself was moist enough on its own with notes of brown sugar and molasses. I could have had seconds and thirds of this desert. Yum! The majority of my party didn't think the food was fantastic. The burgers happened to be somewhat alright. This was a first for me having pub food and I would have more again as long as I stick to the basics.

Yes, there are many pubs in London, everyone has their favorite, everyone has their local, and my "local" depends on where I am staying. In any case, several of us met here. The place was definitely hopping but one of our group arrived early and grabbed a table. We all ordered drinks, I had beer which was delicious. After perusing the menu, I ordered the standard- Fish & Chips, with Mushy Peas. It came out quickly and was fried to perfection. Everybody else who ordered food seemed happy with their choices. It was a great setting to meet up with friends, and I will happily come back here when in the area. A solid pub in a city of many pubs!
