Thanksgiving at Princess Maria was a disappointment from start to finish. The turkey special -- which came with gravy, salad, soup, mashed potatoes, and carrots -- had almost no flavor. The turkey itself tasted flat, the gravy didn't help, and the mashed potatoes were cold and stale, which immediately killed the plate. Nothing felt fresh or seasoned. The baked Virginia ham wasn't any better. It arrived with no sauce, and the pineapple tasted straight out of a can. When I asked if they had the traditional pink glaze, they said no, so the ham was basically plain and dry. The kids' pasta was another miss -- barely any sauce and one oversized meatball just sitting in the bowl. It looked thrown together, not served with any care. The only bright spots of the entire meal were: * the fresh cup of coffee (and they could get better I left my business card . (Get your coffee at Coastalcafeshop.com and taste the difference) * and the slice of pumpkin pie, which was decent. Unfortunately , this place has really gone downhill since the last time we met as a group here several years ago. From the moment we sat down we had a feeling that something was off. The diner was empty. The waitress was young, not very friendly, rather impatient, and complained how she was "busting her ass". The silverware was spotty, so we used some napkins and water to clean it up. When we requested more napkins, the waitress said that she already gave us extras. She returns with two more of despite the fact that there were five of us. General observation of the food, large quantity of low quality. Princess Maria's is much better than your typical diner, very clean, quick and friendly service, and I haven't had a single thing I didn't like here. Omelettes are excellent, as are their crepes, and the grilled cheeses are interesting and delicious! If I'm feeling healthy I'll go for the oatmeal or Greek yogurt bowls with delicious flavors despite the potential to be bland considering the base ingredients, and the portions are large (leftovers yay!). If the front tiny parking lot is full they have a big lot behind the building so that's never an issue. I highly recommend this if you're looking for great local diner food! read more

I absolutely love when the owners read the reviews. They didn't say anything, but when we went back the next day, the wall between the hand dryer was 90% cleaner Once again. There is simply nothing better than a good American diner, and Princess Maria is more than great. During a visit last week, I was a return diner for breakfasts and dinner. The servers were particularly fantastic. Super friendly, polite, accurate and fast -- with a smile. Checked on us, made us feel welcome and valued, and could not be better. The menu is massive, but I quickly found a couple of favorites. Burger, which I generally don't have, was awesome. Cooked as I liked with fantastic tomatoes and perfect fries. Breakfasts were even better. Sure eggs and grilled potatoes aren't rocket science, but getting them right consistently is what counts. They tasted great. Sausages, regular and Italian, were really good. All was good value for money. Front of house staff and others were all equally nice and pro. Whenever I am in the area, I hit this diner. The food is excellent, served by staff that are so nice and friendly. The fruit salad is made with fresh fruit! I love the yogurt parfaits for breakfast. Absolutely the best I've Ever had! I'd love to review other items but while we've been here 6 times in just over 4 weeks I can't tear myself away from "The Usual." My wife did have another variety of skillet and some egg white vegetable omelettes that she thought were exquisite as well. On the downside the coffee was adequate not great and the jam selection was such that my wife brought a small amount of Bonne Maman jam to go on the rye toast. But I'm not willing to take a star off for that even though I love my coffee and jam. The inside is nicely appointed with typically comfortable booths. The waitstaff were all attentive and efficient many of which I'm sure have been there for multiple decades as with the friendly owner Kostos. I was in Jersey for a class reunion and the first thing I had to find was a diner. The people at the hotel didn't even know of this diner????? I was driving around and someone on the street walking their dog gave me directions. Yes, I found it, and I didn't even have to look at the menu, it was going to be Taylor ham and egg on a hard roll. It is a rather big sandwich for me, but I wound up eating the entire sandwich. It was so good, and I waited months to have this one particular sandwich, and I enjoyed every bite. I stayed at a pricy hotel for the reunion, but their food could not top the meal I had at Princess Maria. The waitress was very nice, and I am sure the gentlemen manning the register was the owner. He too was very personable, and I did go back for two other meals and brought along some friends from the reunion. They agreed with me, the food was enjoyed by all. Ho hum are my two words for this diner in Wall Twp. The food is OK, the service is OK but that's about it. The place is clean, the cashier looks like he never smiled in this whole existence and all he's interested in is taking your $. I'm sure this diner is about 15 years old and it's the first time and possibly the last that I will frequent this place. I will say the coffee is good though the cup itself is only 4/5 ounces if that, so getting a 2nd cup is really like having a full cup. I have never seen a smaller ceramic cup. I'm sure this place gets busy especially during the summer season. Also there are not many diners from Ocean Twp thru Wall Twp on Rte 35, so if you're looking for a diner, you'll probably stop here. I can easily award 4 Yelp stars for this old-style traditional NJ diner upon my first visit. The menu was multi-pages and extensive with breakfast, lunch and dinner anytime options. A very clean establishment and the host was quick, attentive and inviting. Our seasoned waitress was a little slow on the initiation but by the end of our visit, we were well taken care of and like old friends. Soup, panini, club sandwich and grilled cheese were all perfect and respectively loved by each of us. The fries were light, crisp and fantastic with the tasty brown gravy dipping treat. NJ diners have to pass a tough test with me. My resolve after my first trip at the P Din (some lights were out in the front facade marquis and forever becomes "the P Din" for me and my girls!), is that I love this place. It's very easy to spot this place from the road. It's blue. Very blue. Trust me, you can't miss it. This is your standard issue diner experience. A large menu filled with all sorts of goodies. You get what you pay for. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette. It's came to a around $7 and tasted like practically every other ham and cheese omelette I've ever had (this is a good thing, btw). I order the same meal at every diner I go to in an attempt to find the best one in Jersey. This omelette could have used more cheese and the onions could have been cooked a little more (I hate hate hate crunchy onions). My girlfriend ordered a $13 pasta dish, filled with veggies. It came complete with a salad and dessert. The amount of food for the price was just right. The bathrooms were extremely dark for some reason. The toilet seats need to be replaced. There was definitely a creepy vibe in there. Gotta love the automatic soap dispensers though. The waitress (Maria) was polite and came around a few times to see if we needed anything.
