Stopped for a late breakfast while in the area. Even though I got the basic bacon and eggs, it was fantastic. Everything perfectly cooked. Hash browns really flavorful and nice portion of bacon on the side. My husband got corned beef hash and eggs and I'm not sure of the seasoning but it was also delicious, one of the best we have had! Kitchen reminds me of your typical NJ Diner with food, ambiance and service on par. The only exception would be that it's priced slightly higher than a Diner. They are definitely short handed, but the staff is very pleasant. My husband ordered the Emerald Isle Breakfast bowl, while I went with the Breakfast Tostadas. My entree was very average and the didn't live up to the description. The tostadas are served on soft tortillas, not crispy corn tortillas. This place is newly renovated and is very inviting. was very good. Salad with entree was fresh baby greens. I prefer crunchy lettuce, but it was good. Yankee pot roast was so over cooked it was grey. Gravy was good but could not help meat. Potato pancakes that accompanied the grey discs were very good. Hamburger with fries were great. The Kitchen @35 has opened in the last few weeks (Oct 19). It has been the home of quite a few different diners the past two decades. This always come to mind: how long will they last? Physically the layout is about the same as it has been; I guess there's not much you can do it to change it. It still reminds me of the diner. The food is about 10% above what I've had here on several occasions in the past. The pluses are the prices and the service we had in the name of MacKenna. She was a sweetheart. A caveat to the management: Don't do tip monies and cash receipts where customers can readily see this. Its tacky..... do it in the back room. read more

Love coming here for breakfast. You enter a huge dining area with a coffee bar you can even sit at. The menu is HUGE. It's always tough to make a decision which can work for or against you sometimes. We went to Kitchen 35 for the first time today for a late lunch. Everything was wonderful! Couldn't complain if we tried! Friendly and efficient service, a menu that has so many great choices that it was hard to pick, all in a very comfortable, spotless space. We had the Fig and Brie sandwich, the White Russian sandwich (pastrami, turkey, cheese, coleslaw) and took home a burrito bowl with grilled shrimp for tomorrow. We enjoyed one of their BOGO specials today. Two dinners with soup or salad and dessert for $32 and it was delicious!!! I had the lamb chops which were cooked to perfection and artfully presented over perfectly cooked veggies and potatoes. Mom had the short ribs and beef vegetable soup and loved it all. Went for lunch today on a Sunday morning around 11:30 am. 3 adults. Seated immediately, waitress very nice. Food was good. The issue that we had is that we observed the manager signaling the waitress to get to our table as we were done eating but it was more for him than us. Then the manager looked over again as we were still at the table. it would have been nice to have a refill of water or a refill on a diner size cup of coffee that cost $4. My husband had just paid and using the restroom, we just waited an extra few minutes, and then when we walked out, the manager didn't acknowledge us as a customer. Kept his head down, didn't have the courtesy to say have a nice day or thank you for coming. Front end of the house needs to clean up their game. read more

Good fries! Don't let the appearance fool you...the decor could use some TLC but the kitchen makes up for it. Fast and friendly service, and good portion sizes. It has a great menu with vegetarian options. I had the Black Russian sandwich, which was heavy on the meat, but a bit dry. Get extra Russian dressing. The green latifa sandwich got two thumbs up. I came here for a meal with the family. First Impression. your typical diner. But, ambiance for a diner was subpar. No music. No desserts in the glass case to browse while you're waiting for a table. Just a bunch of senior clientele here for the dinner menu. As far as the menu was concerned, it was eclectic and vast. Pages and pages and pages. So I'm always skeptical when the menu is too large. I'd prefer a few items that are simply done really well versus a ton of items that are just mediocre. We ordered breakfast for dinner (pancakes, eggs & bacon and pork roll) and a burger. The pancakes looked good. But, honestly were just tough. That's right tough. So I don't know what to make of that. Cooked too long. Or old batter. Or just sat for too long. And the bacon was, well, thin and translucent instead of thick and juicy. And the burger was way over cooked and tasteless. Like, if you're going to make a bunch of burger options then the hamburger meat itself has to be good. It wasn't. At the end of the meal, I inquired about dessert options. I was told that there might be a cannoli or a slice of pumpkin pie (maybe). I didn't know how to respond to that. Usually, you hit a NJ diner and you have a variety of pies, cakes, puddings and ice cream. Clearly, none of those were on the menu. And, in the end, cannoli was the only option. Terrible. I can't get my head around the 4 and 5 star reviews here. Like, I could see it for a burger at Blend or an omelette at Capsize Cafe or desserts at any number of bakeries like Joe Leone's or Sunburst Cafe. But, there's literally no way this place would clear one or two stars. In summary, food was mediocre. Ambiance was mediocre. Service was ok. Desserts non-existent. If you're looking for a good dinner spot, try Squan Tavern, or Blend, or La Modina, or Max Devros or Lubranos. Or the soon to be opened Committed Pig. Or for breakfast, Mariners Cove or Capsize Cafe. Love the menu and the food is just as good. Oddly enough I just ate at their location in Spring Lake for the first time 6 weeks ago. Didn't know they were opening up even closer to my house. I have only been there for breakfast and the selection of dishes are both creative but more importantly taste great. I have had Old Bay Benedict and the Jalapeño breakfast bowl. Both excellent!!! After landing at Newark driving down shore, we spotted this place, parking lot was full( good sign) we stopped in and had a great meal I had the mini cheeseburger sliders, a beet salad with candied nuts and greens with a rasberry & a cup of soup of the day (chicken tortilla). My wife had the grilled eggplant & broccoli rabe panini, an apple salad and tomato bisque soup. A pleasant surprise right in town. So imagine a diner but better. All your diner favs are available but some got fancy, like the Brie and Fig Omelette. Their salads are nice quality and would be found in more of a restaurant than a diner. The pancakes were actually delicious but the bacon had a heavy smoked flavor. Not sure if this was intended and while I'm sure others would like it, I just wanted plain old bacon. We were a large party and our waitress was super sweet and very on-top of things. Only thing that bothered me when eating my food is when I opened my container for my toast, TOAST I remind you is supposed to be crispy and crunchy. Container was completely drenched in butter to the point it was disgusting, super unappetizing and soggy like a wet piece of bread. I've had decent meals here in the past, but do not go for the Friday Night Prime Rib night. The beef must be cooked either earlier in the day or the night before and they heat it up when you order. I arrived at 5pm to make sure I could get medium rare and it came out medium well to well done. Waitress was super nice and tried to rectify it, but the kitchen had nothing close to medium rare. To make matters worse, they must purvey their beef from the same place as the military school I went to. It's so tough, you could make moccasins out of it (for one foot)!! read more

Great food! We recently did a fundraiser and the owner donated several club sandwich platters and a huge salad with grilled chicken. I can't begin to say how many people commented on the food being so good. The Turkey was real Turkey, not the cold cuts. Portions were generous. I have also had breakfast there several time with my family. Not only a great food but grateful for their generosity to the community! Being a native New Jerseyan I've eaten at many diners. Kitchen 35 in Pt Pleasant is one of the best I've ever been to. The menu has all the favorites that scream diner but their menu goes far beyond that. My wife loves the avocado toast which comes with a large portion of avocado. She gets it with poached eggs and salmon. Every time we go she raves about it. My kids get the classic corned beef hash with eggs and real blueberry pancakes, hold the powdered sugar. What made me write this review is the best breakfast I ever had Spanish Rice with ground chorizo sausage and two over easy eggs. The dish comes with a green sauce on the side which is heaven in a Dixie cup. I got some sourdough toast as well. It is a flavorful, stick to your ribs meal that I would happily drive an hour for. Only thing I would change is yellow rice instead of white. Everything on this unique menu is delicious. Have not had a bad meal yet. Enjoy read more

I always enjoy The Kitchen. I recently visited during Comfort Food night. The food was good however, I went with 2 other people and the special was buy one get one. We each ordered from the menu and was told I could not get the fourth meal because we were only 3 people. I felt I was entitled to the fourth meal even if it was delivered to the table and I took home the leftovers. I will now be mindful for next time or find a fourth to visit. I have been here 3 times since opening day, with family, and have not been disappointed yet. Very friendly staff and management, you feel like you are at home. A few standouts on the menu: Do It For Johnny, Bendan Burger, da Lou Chicken Sandwich, Fig and Brie, Corned Beef Hash, and yes, the simple Hot Dog. All were excellent.
