Old place was a great, old school diner. The new owners are making it even better. Menu is a mix of traditional diner staples and familiar but creatively tweaked classics. We have been stopping in every weekend on our way home from the flea market and we've loved everything we've tried.

The Roadside Diner is a classic New Jersey diner. It's fairly small, but we came in for a late breakfast and were seated in a comfy booth right away. Service was pretty good and our orders came out quickly. I had the western omelet, potatoes and wheat bread. The omelet and potatoes seemed a bit heavily salted, but still good.

You will find an old-fashioned diner in Wall Township. Website: 4/5 I appreciated the website design giving off the early 20th century vibes with the bold, sharp-cornered letters and the images of the diner and James Dean, and the black background and white letters give off coziness before you even step into the establishment. However, only a few menu items have images accompanying them. It is also easy to navigate with a view of the menus, though clicking the menu items does not take you to an order form, which I find quite redundant. Brand: 5/5 The brand of the Roadside Diner definitely gives off the classic diner vibes, from the steel exterior to the sliding door to the booths and bar. From the outside to the inside, the diner hopes to maintain its old-fashioned diner aesthetic. Ambiance: 3/5 The cramped space of the diner can definitely work against it, since it got quite noisy inside. Despite this issue, we did not find a booth uncomfortably small, for it accommodated us well. I did appreciate the classic rock playing over the radio at a tolerable volume. Nonetheless, the diner was well-kept and clean. Service: 5/5 Despite the sounds all around me, the staff managed to get my order as I pointed at the menu. Wait Time: 5/5 We experienced no interruptions while awaiting our orders. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Jersey Breakfast Club special, which consisted of a sandwich with pork roll, two eggs, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise, cluttered with Red Skin Home Fries, along with orange juice. I can say it helped me gain a new appreciation for New Jersey cuisine. Just like any Jersey-inspired dish, it had a hearty taste while also having subtle amounts of tanginess. The toasted bread held its form despite the sandwich being cut into four pieces. The home fries provided a tangy taste to the dish, while the lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise, and pork roll gave the sandwich its hearty taste. The Jersey Breakfast Club filled me up throughout the day. Worth The Money?: 5/5 The Roadside Diner maintains its brand with the food since breakfast is a major theme of the food. The unique Jersey brand showcased itself in my course so profoundly. Despite the cramped space, the food definitely outweighed any negative experiences. The wait time fitted the meal, for its well-cooked warmth helped ensure that I had a pleasant breakfast. The images of the diner on the website does give you an idea of what to expect. The space was expected, just as much as the menu. A wide selection for such a small place helps make this establishment stand out. While maintaining its traditional appearance, the Roadside Diner does keep up to date with technology. It definitely helps the establishment to have its traditional status evolve with time. I have no real suggestions, and I consider the price well worth it. Rating: 5/5 Stars I cannot be too sure about the future of old-fashioned diners, but I will say that I appreciated the Roadside Diner continuing the tradition in its own way. Recommend To... Anyone driving through the highway and is looking for that old-fashioned diner to frequent.

I was told that 5,000 railcar diners were produced. Pocket doors are used for such close quarters.

The new owners have been in business for a couple of months. It's not their first diner and their service and entrees show this. The nostalgia is all around you; Albiet you can see it all from wherever you sit, it's that small and quaint. Definitely worth checking out.

When hospice staff finally ushers us out of her room at 6:20 we are left to collect our hearts and heads and move forward. Mom loved the beach and the sun will be rising soon. But we are short on sleep and need comfort in this time. What says comfort at 6:30 in the morning better than the staff and bagels at Hole in One? We piled in the car to grab our favs and then ate breakfast peacefully on the beach in Ocean Grove as the sun rose. We reflected on life and death and family... And the joy of a soft, toasty bagel. I also had a Red Bull which may or may not seem insane lol If it was any other bagel shop we may not have gone there that morning (there are closer shops to the beach than this one!). I mean who goes straight for bereavement bagels at dawn after 3 hours of sleep? Well the staff at Hole in One are always so great and friendly. And the bagels are possibly the best you can get between Red Bank and Neptune. And their sandwiches? Delicious. We were seated right away on a Thursday afternoon on their front sidewalk patio. I ended up ordering the Green Machine bowl (normally vegan and gluten free) but added grilled chicken to it. It was delicious! A combo of roasted broccoli, warm lentils, parsley pesto, avocado, and marinated kale. Everything was cooked perfectly, and while this is basically something I make on rotation at home, I loved the pesto sauce and will definitely be trying to replicate that on my own. Perfect lunch that left my full and not even a little sluggish. They do have a few drinks on the menu like kombucha, cold brew, and sodas, but if you are looking for anything more than that in the coffee arena, you'll need to pop by a neighboring cafe afterwards. I have also tried a specialty matcha which was very funky (in a good way) and left me eager to try more. Today I got their breakfast burrito and a current special for the winter: the candy cane nitro latte. Strap in. I looked at my latte and opened up my takeout box. Could it be a mirage? Am I lost somewhere, out in a desert... alone? Thankfully, no. Well, yes, I am alone, but I confirmed this was real life. I pinched myself to check. Staring back at me was a prepossessing arrangement of breakfast provisions-- all mine. I started my experience with the side salad. In a blink of an eye it was gone. DELICIOUS. The dressing was so good and the pickled onions.. just wow. Next I went into my breakfast burrito. At this point, I've started praying to God because he clearly had my back today by guiding me towards this burrito. The side of hot sauce balances perfectly, just the right amount of spice and such good flavor I'd drink it. Straight up. I don't have enough words to describe this experience. I succumbed to the tunnel vision I had developed and devoured every bite-- satisfying my deepest desires-- the perfect balance of scrambled eggs, cheddar, pork-roll, bacon, sausage, and rippers. Wake seasoning blend saved me. I fell into a complete state of monomania; I turned off my music, my tv, put my phone away-- and just lived. Me and my breakfast burrito. Total bliss. Originally I intended on drinking my latte alongside my burrito and salad like a normal person. I became a bit preoccupied with my meal, but it's okay, because it left me a delightful treat for the finale! This coffee was made with love and I could feel it. My first sip, I thought I heard the bells of Santa's reindeer. It truly is the holiday season. Thank you Lia for putting your all into this latte. NEVER stop being you. From my three experiences trying Wake's drinks, I can attest that their homemade syrups are made with you (yes, YOU) in mind. It's not too sweet. You can taste the coffee. You can taste the milk. You couldn't ask for more if you tried. Final Remarks The staff is extremely friendly. I ran into one of the owners and he was very charismatic. A trustworthy and dedicated team is clearly working behind the counter and behind those kitchen doors to ensure you get an experience that will last you a lifetime. Boy, was that the case for me. I hope you don't think this is a ChatGPT written review. I spoke from my heart and I wrote this with love. You gotta try it. You just gotta.

The location is a little further than we would normally travel, but it was worth it. I loved all the farm to table foods they have. They even nicely promote all the partners they use right on the wall of the restaurant, so you know where all your food comes from. Everyone loved their meals! I had the Thai chicken sandwich and it was so flavorful and delicious. Other dishes ordered were the chicken salad and strawberry salad which my friends both enjoyed. Our server was very good and didn't rush us as we were just chatting up a storm. Tucked away in a small town, you will find a cozy nook to discover American cuisine…read more Brand: 5/5 Harvest is a small restaurant in Farmingdale specializing in New American cuisine. The entrance stands out in this borough, despite its small size. I do think that sign with the wooden background reflected the cozy interior quite well with a homey style. The country décor on the walls also enhances the aesthetics. Website: 5/5 It wastes no time, for it immediately opens you to the menu where most of the items have their own images. I appreciated the minimalistic design where the understandable font provides you with the information. The basic description of the establishment does say that they rely on locally sourced ingredients. Ambiance: 5/5 Normally, dark interiors would not necessarily work for eateries unless they achieve a cozy vibe; which is what Harvest did perfectly. The wooden walls provide a sense of comfort underneath lights dim enough to not offend the eyes but bright enough to see. Despite the cramped space, I did think that the interior fitted the ambiance, along with the smooth country music playing over the radio. Service: 5/5 The staff was quite jovial and patiently explained a part of the menu. We had no issues with our orders. Wait Time: 5/5 I did wait awhile for the meals, though we managed to get our orders without any interruptions. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Grilled Chicken Thai Sandwich with no additional sides, with a free, complementary glass of water. It has ciabatta beard containing grilled chicken, spinach, cucumbers, and Thai sauce. I do not know if the signature sauce is authentically Thai, but I will say that I could barely tolerate the pungent taste and smell. I cannot say whether it is the feature. Every other part, such as the spinach and the cucumbers, definitely complemented the grilled chicken with a juicy taste. The ciabatta bread buns managed to hold their form, even as the contents started to fall off. Worth The Money?: 2/5 I will say that Harvest brand has as much of a highfalutin status as its prices. While the restaurant reflects the New American cuisine, it does not come off as condescending. Nevertheless, I still thought that the limited menu items just do not help with the prices. For the website, I would suggest a list of all the farms and independent distributors that Harvest relies on for ingredients, and to include a backstory about how Harvest began and where the name came from. I find local-sourcing incredibly important and commend Harvest for incorporating this into their business model. Concerning the food, I will say that the Grilled Chicken Thai sandwich did have suffice within the ambiance. The wait time it took to make the meal was appropriate enough. I will say that the wait time did feel long within the establishment, especially when no one else was around. Nevertheless, the service did make the food worth the wait and the ambiance worth immersing in. With all of this being said, would I say that the overall price would bring me back? Not really. Even the complementary water could not win me over when compared to the prices. Prestigious New American eateries tend to have a focus on specific consumer bases, and I am just not one of them. I do not score low on this part out of spite, rather based on my current station and many other people. I did tip the staff and I did have enough satisfaction with the meal. Rating: 4/5 Stars I do not know how Harvest would carry itself into the future, though I can see how it would suffice as a New American restaurant. Recommend To... Anyone with enough disposable income looking for a quiet restaurant.
