I was very disappointed after my first visit to Princess Spa. The salon was recommended to me by a co-worker. I spent $45 on a French mani and pedi and another $25 for my 10 year-old to have a regular mani and pedi with design. Not even 24 hours later and my manicure is peeling off! I am so disappointed on the money I wasted. I have not had this issue at the last salon I went to. Sadly, I will not be back. Also, the mani/pedi chairs were filthy and looked as though they are very rarely cleaned. I never saw anyone clean the sinks they wash your feet in after they finished our mani/pedi. I really love this place. The prices for the shallac are ridiculously cheap. I have gotten it done 3 times there 2 were perfect but my last one was a not so great but I can't complain because anywhere else would be so much more. My friend and I made pedicure appointments for 6:15 on a Thursday (yesterday), we arrived early at 6:00 (how courteous of us!) as we walked in, we were asked "how can I help you?" We said we have appointments at 6:15. We were then told "your early, go outside, go to cvs." (CVS shares a parking lot with the nail salon) My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief, and just went to CVS anyways and picked up something to drink. We then waited in our car until exactly 6:15, the employees then allowed us inside the salon where we picked out a color and sat down to wait. While we were waiting we both noticed that every single employee in the salon was working on someone's nails and there was only one pedicure chair open. Those who were in the chairs, looked as though they had just sat down. At about 6:35 we were finally sat in our chairs. 5 minutes later my pedicure began but it was another 15 before my friend (who is suppose to be getting a pedi at the same time as me) began. Time now is 6:50... again our appointments were at 6:15... Also, a client gave the lady doing my pedi a tip before she left, putting the tip down on her service station. The woman working on my pedi immediately stopped working on me and picked up the cash and moved it to count the bills before stuffing it in her pocket. This woman rushed through my pedi, that was suppose to be 45 minutes long and unprofessionally counted her tip from a client right in front of another client. All and all, this place was very unprofessional from the moment we walked in the door. We left the salon around 7:40, which it closed at 7:30, and again our appointments were at 6:15!!!!! We should not have been in that salon that long or even had to wait that long after we scheduled an appointment. Say NO to walk ins if you have already scheduled appointments. Used to love this place but recently every time I go with an appointment made I'm am waiting 20+ minutes to get my nails done. They consistently overbook themselves that you spend hours at the salon. Will need to find a new place to start getting my nails done that doesn't require you spend the entire day there. Unfortunate as they do a good job on nails. read more

Wow! I have been going to MiniLuxe for my manicures because I work near Newbury Street and it was convenient. What wasn't convenient? The prices. But I had tried all different nail salons along the South Shore and could not find one that could match the quality of Newbury ones. Until now!! I had a hard time seeing this place because it's so small on the outside, but the inside is large and spacious! It was clean, bright and everything from the chairs to the tables look brand new (maybe they are?). Minh was my manicurist and she was so sweet and professional. She was incredibly meticulous and it shows in her work. She gave me such a long leg/foot massage I kept wondering why she didn't have bigger arm muscles if she does this all the time. They were also playing "Say Yes To The Dress" on TV the whole time (a guilty pleasure of mine) on DVD with no commercials so I was very happy about that! They also used paraffin wax for both my pedicure and manicure and I didn't have to request it- I think it was just standard. I loved it, I had never had that done before but it feels great. The best part came at the end when I saw the total - $50 for an amazing pedicure and Shellac manicure that was over an hour and a half long. I was paying $55 for a manicure ALONE in Boston. Over an hour may be too long for some people but I went today (Saturday) so I was happy to stay as long as Minh wanted me in her chair. Needless to say I have finally found a nail salon close to home (10 minutes!) that has the quality of Boston but the price of Weymouth. Love it! read more

My friend and I went in to get a pedicure and gel manicure. When I was receiving the pedicure I noticed the tools were in a bowl that was dirty. When I asked about it the tech asked for the other tech to come over and speak to me- she was not happy about my comment and was rude when answering my questions. This is place is great and under new management, Kim and her husband. I love getting my nails done by Kim. They always come out great and even after 2 weeks they still look great. She takes her time with the full sets and refills. What I like most about her is the fact that she is gentle and painless. I have had awful experiences at different places with the techs being so rough my nails bleed because my nails are so sensitive. But Kim is certainly the best professional I've come by. They do an awesome paraffin dip, and have huge screen tvs with movies playing! I have been going here for years and usually have had good experiences. After getting my loyalty card stamped for the 10th time a few months ago, I was told I would get a free pedi on my next visit. I was pretty upset today to be told that I would only be getting $10 off instead of the free pedi as previously told. Came back here after a year hiatus from a disappointing manicure from previous owners. Needless to say I was extremely impressed by the new owners and technician who did my mani and pedi. I believe her name was Tara (apologies if I'm wrong!!) I was treated to a very relaxing pedicure, complete with a hot stone massage. Compared to other places, I received the longest foot and leg massage to date. Big points in my opinion! And Tara was so swift that I barely felt her trimming my cuticles. This place is hit or miss! I have had reallly good manicures/pedicures and really bad ones but the price for a gel is $20 which is unheard of around the Weymouth area so I tend to keep going back. I would suggest keeping track of the tech you get and if you like that person go back to them because the quality is quite different from person to person. I really had a terrible experience. I got a pedicure after working 10 days in a row on my feet for hours at a time. The lady didn't even rub my feet for a second. All I wanted was some relaxation and I did not feel relaxed on bit. I sat longer at the drying bulbs then in the pedicure chair. Literally sat over 40mins waiting for my toes to dry. I go here all the time and they usually do a great job with my pedicure and spend a long time on the massage, but this time it was HORRIBLE! The lady( I forget her name) is always very nice and friendly, but she was rushing through it and it was very obvious. She didn't even do a massage, and hardly even exfoliated. All she did with the exfoliants was spread it onto my legs and wash it off, when she was supposed to scrub my legs with it and that's what they normally do. I could tell she was rushing to get to the next person which is so unprofessional. And she left a little bit of polish around my pinky toe without cleaning it up and there was a spot on one of my other toes that was messed up and she just left it like that. But before I could notice it she was already onto the next client. She just left me in the chair and didn't say anything or help me with my stuff to set up the dryer for me. I didn't want to tip her because I didn't think she deserved it but I would have felt too guilty if I didn't. A waste of 30 bucks in my book!!! read more

I didn't have a good experience here. Went for a pedi and the woman was not even looking at what she was doing but rather, chatting in her native language to 2 older folks and a little child. My feet didn't get equal treatment and she didn't put my feet under a nail dryer to dry and by the time I got home 5 minutes later, more that one of them was smudged. Never again!!!!! read more

Unfortunately, this is one of worst experiences I've had going to a nail salon. I walked in and the walls were painted pepto bismol pink and so were the chairs a real eye sore. I sat down for a pedicure and the nail tech was a gentlemen that was rough and gave me an uncomfortable "massage" and did a polish job so horrible I asked for him to take it off and requested another nail tech. Another woman took over and did a decent pedicure. I asked for a gel manicure and she did a horrible job to the point that she spilled polish on my hand and their were air bubbles after she applied 2 coats. Again, I asked her to redo it because of the bubbles and she simply said she couldn't do any better than that. I ended up asking her to take off the polish and I asked for my bill and paid and left w/o my fingernails done a decent pedicure. I also didn't see them clean the basin I used for my pedicure before another young lady step in so I also question their hygiene practices. I would have been better off doing my own manicure and pedicure and I was extremely disappointed with my experience there. BEWARE! read more
