WOW LOVE IT! I fell in love with that place, which is an Italian bakery/restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the shop already exists in Milan... I tried their bread stick with olives (£1.20). It was just DELICIOUS! The bread was tasty, warm and crispy, the green olives were big. It has nothing to see with Paul's bread -the french bakery-, very hard to chew. The pasta is nice as well (I tried Boscaiola style, with ham and peas). There are also traditional lasagnas and cannelonni - mozzarella/tomato salad, very fresh. The pastries are square-shaped and good (passion fruit, chocolate-amaretto, tiramisu, pear flan) for only £3.50. The size matters!! My husband and I went to Princi yesterday night and took two "Quattro Formaggi". The dough was perfect. The pizzas were crispy and very well stuffed, BUT...the size of them was really disappointing. Very small pizzas. Never seen something like this anywhere else. Unfortunately, the price was not small at all. So please next time do not fool customers. We are not stupid!! p.s.: the sausage on your "Salsiccia, Friarielli and Fiordilatte" does not really taste like Norcia sausage (my husband was born and breed in Umbria). I came to this place to try their breakfast. I had poached eggs & Avocado served with sourdough toast "my favorite dish for a breakfast ". Also, I tried their mini croissant with apricot. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the mini croissant were exceptional. I literally I ordered a second one. Overall, the place is very nice and the service is good. I first went to the Princi in Milan and loved it - kind of Armani meet self-service. Then they opened one in London and I am still loving it. I love that the people behind the counter tend to be Italian. There is so much food to choose from, warm lasagnas, cold salads, cakes, breads, coffee. And really cheap! I always get too much food, which I can't eat, but try to eat... Go with friends so you can try a whole range of stuff. Seating is hard to come by if you go at busy periods but at least it means the food is really fresh! read more

Had a very late lunch and needed a quick late night snack/dinner. I saw this place was open until midnight on Google so I went to check it out at around 11:10 pm. Turns out they close at 11:30 so understandably they weren't preparing any more 12" pizzas. I grabbed a couple from behind the counter along with the large box of salad option. Between the roasted pumpkin with ricotta, tomato pesto, and a prosciutto with mushroom, the roasted pumpkin with ricotta cheese was the favourite but as a cold slice, it wasn't much. As for the salads, I had four (up to four options for a Large box). Wasn't a huge fan of the pesto pasta salad, but the roasted veggies were pretty good. The caprese was okay as well but it was similar to what I could get at my local grocery store back home. I would stick with the roasted vegetables. The fennel salad was disappointing and I thought the flavour was muted down. Service was fine. Quick and relatively friendly. Only thing is that the girl helping me dropped one slice of pizza (in a bag) on the ground behind the counter and then toppled the entire bag of all my pizzas and salads over when trying to hand it to me. Felt a little clumsy and lacking of care. I suppose it was the end of the night and she must've wanted to go home. I may be inclined to come back for some of their desserts. They look divine. I think had I been more impressed with their by the slice pizza, I would've given them a full 3 stars. We have some pretty amazing places for by the slice pizzas back home though and it's much cheaper than $24.xx pounds for the equivalent to what I got. This was the first stop for dinner on my trip to London. Great location right in the Soho/ Piccadilly Circus area. Great variety of Italian bites including pizza, pasta, salads and desserts. The wait for the restaurant seating was too long so we opted for the counter service with self seating. Staff was patient and heated up our pizza slices. Overall, it was a good time with a chill vibe and popular Italian drinks/beer. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because they could improve on being more organized with the counter service at checkout time. To use a female analogy, Princi is a head turner. When I first walked past this shop, I actually stopped and backtracked to look through the shop window. Look closely though for it is a shop of many layers. What caught my eye initially were the luscious looking desserts and cakes. Then I wandered in to continue my perusal to find that there were also salads and hot items like pizza from a wood fired oven. Finally there's a bar area and for me, the wonderful news that they serves watermelon juice, a personal favourite. The food is Italian in origin and style and beautifully presented on the trays behind the glass counters. Everything looks very appetising but so far, I've only eaten their desserts, which have gone down well. The popularity of the place is reflected in lack of seating everytime I've been there but the sweet creations taste just as good eaten while wandering down Wardour Street. This is another one for the "should be 4.5 stars" list. Princi has just about every yummy, Italian, bakery food item that you could imagine. From Pizza slices to Tiramisu. You won't be sitting down for a long meal, but you can still completely gorge yourself. Obviously a bad choice if you are on the no-carb diet. Seating can be tricky, as it is often very busy. Tables are first come, first serve community seating. There are some plinths available for use as standing counter space. Better yet, get a massive selection of savory and sweet and go home so no one can see what a little piggy you are! read more

When I was a little boy I hated chicken, mainly because of the squidgy fatty bits. My mum found a way to make me eat it by mixing it with mayo, and sliced green apples in a sandwich. She called it the ghostbuster sandwich. I loved it. Princi now make a ghostbuster sandwich filling just like my mum's. They add avocados to the mix too. Tastes great. Go get some with some slices of in house freshly baked bread. Goddamn it's good. The pizza's are also amazing but be careful when choosing your slice as some have no tomato sauce and can be a bit dry. If you really must have a sauceless pizza then get some tomato and mozzarella salad as an extra. The portions are ridiculously humungous. Super cool high-end deli concept in Soho. Great lunch spot. Excellent selection of Italian baked goods, pizzas, and gourmet salads. Everything seemed fresh and delicious. Definitely enjoyed my salmon orecchiette pasta salad. My friends love this place and I can see why - sort of. But for me, it really doesn't tick many boxes. One things, it so busy and chaotic. People are milling around constantly looking for seats. You have to move your seat to let them pass every few minutes which gets tiresome. The food is good but when it's so busy - I just order the easiest and quickest thing to eat so have only had the pizza and cheese pastry things. One day maybe I'll try some pasta. Well fellow Soho-ians look no further than Princi Princi is yet another cheeky restaurant endorsed by Alan Yau, that nauuuughty chap behind Wagamama, Busaba Eathai and Hakkasan. Princi is opposite Busaba Wardour Street. According to the lady in there, Big Alan has hooked up with Rocco Princi, and is sometimes called 'the Armani of bread'. The result is this sharp Italian bakery. The decor is cool, the prices are too. With a wide variety of breads, pizza slices, pastas, cakes and pastries there is enough choice for everyone regardless of hunger level. There's also an abundance of samples lying around, so get your fill before you buy. There's a great atmosphere in there and the staff enjoyed (I think) a good banter about what they can suggest for the late-night patron. I can recommend the ham and cheese ciabatta (£4.00) which is not only delicious but super filling too. If you come away feeling guilty, thatr's probably because you have indulged in one of the incredible looking desserts on display. Go on, why not... You're not driving. We originally planned to come here for a breakfast or dinner sessions but both times packed out we found time to go for lunch instead. We were only craving the pizza so we made a beeline for their selections. There's an open counter where you can order the pizza available, you go pay and choose your seats. Definitely not table service here. What service we did gte was a bit miffed. We chose the four cheese pizza and pepperoni & cheese pizza plus diet coke for beverage. Was a little pricey for such small selections but we were hungry. We found seats by their water feature dining wall area, rather than sit at the share tables with the crowds. Because it was so busy still at lunchtime on a Thursday. The pizza slices were large and yummy but not amazing. My partner loved them more than I did so he ate the rest of mine. Let's keep this review simple: Incredibly annoying place with ridiculously overpriced food that looks good under the fancy lights but tastes no better than any authentic bakery round the corner. Princi quickly became one of my favorite lunch places and they also had some of the best chocolate cakes I have ever had. I tried the gnocchi one, went for the sallads, you can choose different sallads so you get a little of everything. The pizzas are also great, i like the options that you can combine your food however you want, a little bit of this and that and it doesnt cost much. Make that a 4.5. Oh my God. I've walked by this place multiple times, did a double-take every time (like Yee Gan's hot girl analogy), and FINALLY went there yesterday. And I am going to go back again this week. I think it took me about 10 min to settle on which type of chocolate dessert I wanted, considering there were 5 different trays of them. That was after I perused the salads, pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, etc. The whole stretch of the counter is filled with baked goods. The atmosphere is really cool too -- clean, angular layout with wide open spaces, a lot of marble/stone surfaces, and easy lighting. The bathrooms have incense lit around them. I visited Princi thinking it was going to be a cozy if not posh café where waiters served you over-priced carbohydrates and pots of English Breakfast. What we got was a posh buffet or cafeteria. HOWEVER, the food is fantastic. I bought a slice of pizza (more like melted cheesy goodness on a chunk of focaccia) and a coke, and while the system seems a bit confusing (WHERE IS THE QUEUE?!) the food and environment is quite nice. If you're looking to go somewhere where you can be waited on - do not come here. If you're hoping to go somewhere where you can sit and talk to you friend over a cocktail, glass of wine, juice, pasta, pizza, cake, biscuits or a loaf of delicious freshly baked bread - DO come here. My pizza was room temperature (so, a bit on the chilly side) but I'm assuming this is what's to be expected with this place. If you wanted piping hot food, you'd go somewhere else, eh? Super crowded place, you can just walk in to find seats on your own instead of waiting on a line. I shared 2 cakes with my friends, a slice of tiramisu and a passion fruit cheesecake. This italian pastry shop in its simple modern design is worth visiting. 5 of us enjoyed standing by the stone-look trash bin while sharing pistachio cakes and espressos. On Sunday mornings, Princi is also a good place to hang out watching people, pastries, wood logs, when it's not that many people, you can actually hear the wall water fall. It's also a cozy place where seats are quite close with each other, good for casual 1st dates :) Most visitors eye on the glowing deserts, although the shop also has a very good selection of breads fresh out of the wood oven. This might be blasphemy. But I 'm not a fan of British desserts. And although the desserts at Princi are supposed to be Italian, they taste British. They look Italian, but they're as Italian as a fake Gucci bag. Overall it's a cool atmosphere, communal dining, dozens of pizza slices, desserts, bread to ogle at. This is a combination of a Subway, a fine italian deli, and a buffet on steroids. It's kind of fantastic. You walk in, sort of have to fight for someone to help you because there's always a queue of a few people for the different subcategories of pizza, pasta, and salads - but once you do, you pay for your lovely authentic delicacies, and devour reaping a sort of tuscan orgasm in your mouth. Princi has amazing service considering its super casual order at the counter and take your number. Food was very good as well. Delicious soft scrambled eggs with toast and avocado. Amazing pancetta and egg croissant. Much better cappuccino and breakfast than Cote across the way. I was super amused by a french guy insisting to be served sitting at the window counter when its obviously an order at the display/register type place. He orders 4 instead of two eggs scrambled. His meal arrives its obviously more that 2 eggs and he proceeds to complain his order is missing the additional eggs. The manager checks with the chef who confirms what was served. The customer disagrees and they fire 2 more eggs for him. I guess the customer is always right. (This guy was so wrong on all levels but I digress.) Super impressed with the service. A++ read more

I come to Princi twice a week because of school. The best qaulity food for its price. My fav is the pasta salad with tuna and olives with aubergines on the side. Along with my capaccino, I'm truly a happy camper. You can also get a mini bread for 60p more. so so so so good. I highly recommend this place. If your in soho, give it a go. Came here for desserts per the suggestion of friend, and was good as a whole but not that impressing. The restaurant has two areas, one for self-service where you order at the counter and can get your food right away, one for seat-in service but need to order specific things like alcohols. Ordered a slice of pear and chocolate cake, was a nice mixture of pear cubes and ganache. Cheese cake with berry jams tasted a little different from common cheese cakes, the cheese flavor was stronger, but quite nice. Really liked the decorations and the big space. So, since it's not super fresh it's not as good as a nice local pizza shop, BUT the pizza is good for what it is and allows you to sample lots of different types, and that's great! The upscale cafeteria concept doesn't seem to have taken hold in any major way in the States (at least not in my neck of the woods), and maybe it hasn't really done so in the UK either. But Prinzi sure seems to fill a void. Largely Eye-talian in persuasion, surprisingly healthy and easy on the wallet, it effectively gussies up an all-too-often lowbrow concept. And it shows that it's not hard to do, AND to make it fashionable--quite a contrast from the usual cafeteria in the States, which all too often attracts the demographic who dines at 16:30 and is in bed promptly at 20:00. I was especially taken by the sides--and what cafeteria can ever succeed without terrific sides?--particularly the steamed green beans. The one criticism is that the place apparently recently expanded in size....but didn't grow the toilet facilities in proportion to the size. Didn't grow them at all, really. They're nice and clean enough. But a stylish place like this shouldn't need to have queues 10 people long. Looks like this'll be a pretty difficult fix too! Extremely busy place so I opted for a takeout of Parma ham pizza and linzer chocolate cake. The staff is eager to take orders but I feel slightly pressurized to choose quickly which is extremely hard as the food scream "eat me!" I don't understand the point of the water feature but I left quickly so I would not be tempted to use the toilet! The overall design is modern. The bakery itself can be seen from the outside which does add to the charm... The pizza was tasty but I've eaten better from Franca manca in brixton. The food is laid out in front of you as you come in from the relative bustle of Soho, and you know you've arrived. Princi is somewhere I've gone past on several occasions but only recently stopped into for a fantastic coffee and canoli. We ate in the food-displaying side (on the right as you go in), which seemed to be the drop-in area. The macchiato was fabulous, with the fruitiness of the coffee coming through (surely the sure sign of a good roaster). The canoli was fab: sweet and creamy, firm yet crumbly. One downside is that ordering is fairly convoluted, in that you have to stand near the thing you want (cake, patisserie, salad, pizza... all amazing) and get the attention of someone serving, and hope that no one butts in in front of you. You have to then go and collect your coffees from the back, which makes coordinating slightly difficult, but not overwhelmingly so. Additionally, the water feature around the edge of the room spits out drops of water over the table area, where your food, drink, book etc is likely to be...goodness knows what's been in contact with that water. This for me is almost a deal-breaker, and I'll make sure to get a seat at the tables in the middle of the room. read more

Went out of my way to give this place a try. I went around 3pm today (friday) hoping there wouldn't be a crowd, however i was very wrong. I can see what everyone means about trying to get a seat! It's quite hard. I walked in, and took a look at everything they offered, and you definitely have to just grab a server's attention cause i stood there for ages trying to decide what i wanted and then to actually order it.... There was a whole section of sweets, then pizza, then bread/stuff then some pasta-ish dishes which really probably wasn't pasta but i can't seem to remember what they were...and at the end are the drinks. I ordered a pepperoni pizza, a slice of it for 4.30 pounds which was quite pricy so i picked the biggest piece and pointed it out to him when i finally got his attention. Then i also ordered a small cappuccino for 2.30 pounds. I grabbed a seat at table with these random people and was just listening to what they were talking about, tv shows and how if they were american or british and if they liked it or not. haha, quite amusing while i ate. I guess they are suppose to take your tray away after you get to your table. That's cool. I wouldn't know what to do with it either. And they clean up after you leave. There's only a bathroom for each gender and a disabled you can use as well. The pizza was okay, it wasn't anything extra special, but since it was just outta the oven it was quite hot and yummy, it was very thick which i loveee and i was going to choose another pizza but this was new...and looked mighty appetizing. The cappuccino was okay, nothing special about that either.. It's a bit high of a price for average food, but service was nice and i did sample practically everything while i waited...moving down each counter..lol and the person who made my cappuccino probably noticed i was american and i had only said "cappuccino" to him...so he was telling me to try this sample that was offered in italy or something during christmas, and it was good, though i already had a piece when i came in :P I probably would only come back to try the dessert next time, but they are over 3 pound at least... so have to think about that! read more

I'm torn. I was immediately struck by the long glass cases of exquisite treats, contrasted by rough unpolished granite that lines the walls. Everything is linnear and balanced - long counters, long rows of seating, long lines along the floors and walls. I appreciate the careful thought that must have gone into Princi's design, but... I left feeling like I had eaten at a high end cafeteria. Stand in one line to point out the pastry you want, then pay, then take your tray to the next counter to get your coffee (which incidentally took a curiously long time), then find a spot among the bank of seating with high stools next to strangers also eating off of trays... While the croissants were some of the best I've had in London, it was challenging to get comfortable here. And if I want to eat food served on a tray, I'll go to McDonalds. read more

A whole entire wall of glass topped counter moving from sweets to salty pastries to salads and antipasti and a smaller hot counter offering succulent sausage stew and delicious lasagna and spinach. It was crazy busy on the tuesday evening we were there and had to stand for our meal... but the heavenly and cloud- like passionfruit cheese cake made it all worth it. And the sweet fried cracker things. Overall Princi is a great deli concept; shame it is so popular! read more
