I tried on the Adidas Tokyo shoes I've been eyeing, but once I saw them on my foot, it was a hard no; they looked like banana boats, and that's not cute at all. I ended up getting a black and cream gum bottom New Balance pair that I really like. I'm planning to wear them with a dress and some lacy socks. The young lady working the shoe section was on it, assisting me and several other customers at the same time, and she didn't miss a beat. She did everything with a smile, too. Dick's Sporting Goods is always well‑stocked, organized, and reliable. Definitely recommend.

Very Disappointing Customer Service Experience…read more I had a very unpleasant experience with a member of the leadership team named Billy during a recent visit to the Dick's Sporting Goods at Del Amo. I attempted to return a pair of youth cleats that were still in new condition. They showed no signs of wear on the soles--only a small amount of dust from my child trying them on briefly on a dirt field. The cleats were black, making the dust more noticeable. I purchased them just 27 days earlier and had my original receipt. According to the return policy printed on the receipt, returns are accepted for items in new condition. Billy immediately refused both a refund and even a store credit. Because he was the acting leader, I requested to speak with the store manager. Billy seemed reluctant to involve the manager, but I insisted. Store Manager Val inspected the cleats himself. He explained that worn shoes are generally not eligible for return, but after examining the cleats and confirming they were still in new condition and within the 30-day return window, he approved a store credit. What disappointed me most wasn't the policy--it was Billy's customer service. Throughout the interaction, he had a dismissive attitude, made very little eye contact, appeared irritated whenever I asked a question, and showed no interest in resolving the situation professionally. Those are qualities I would not expect from someone in a leadership position. I appreciate Manager Val for taking the time to inspect the item and applying the return policy fairly. Unfortunately, Billy's approach made what should have been a simple return into an unnecessarily frustrating experience.

All that's left is Big 5 and Dick's. REI doesn't count, as they're too niche. This location has a lot of merchandise and it's inherent problem is the aesthetics of the layout of the store. It's way too crowded and cramped for shopping and could use an expansion and makeover where it feels well-lit and spacious. It's sort of the difference between Target and Wal-Mart. I think Big 5 could use new branding as a company. It's a good store with good prices. They do "over coupon" as Bed Bath and Beyond did. You can always anticipate a $5 off of $15 type value-pac FSI mailer coupon and almost won't shop without a coupon. It's a longterm flawed business strategy. Their prices are quite good in many ways. I went shopping for shoes and they had shoes on sale for $30-40 where I went next door to DSW and most of their comparable shoes were $50-55. You'd think DSW whose only business is selling shoes, would have a competitive edge, but it doesn't and didn't, at least for active/athletic shoes compared to Big 5. I'd say check Big 5 out first or last, but don't buy any shoes until you've visited a Big 5 like this one. Parking is fairly easy in this outdoor strip mall of sort, that has a Sizzler, Harbor Freight and other businesses.

They have seven courts and offer open play. First thing that caught my attention was how fast and lack of bounce the balls were traveling down the court. The court concrete is polished smooth and using a Selkirk type of ball with a power paddle, those balls are traveling fast! Took a bunch of plays to get use to the speed and bounce of the ball. The open play isn't divided to play levels so you can be in a high level or low level game randomly, can be intimidating for newbies. This place is definitely a good pay play place to try. The owner Leslie was very nice and helpful to get me started with signing the wavier and into playing.

The facility has many courts that are divided with plenty of space between each sectioned court. Most courts don't have this perk and are crammed close together. Also, their operating hours are so convenient and we can always get a court on a whim. The added convenience of booking courts online and paying thru Venmo is a big plus! Prices are really competitive and much cheaper than that new place in Carson! Please come check this place out! You will not want to go anywhere else! Come help support this family-owned & operated business! Leslie and her boys are so sweet and accommodating.

Upon leaving the store, I noticed the cashier ( the young lady with the glasses and ponytail ) had moved from her normal station so that she could get a better look at what I was doing/ making sure I wasn't stealing. It used to be at a different area in The Southbay Pavillion when it used to be called The Carson Mall; and it was a bigger building too! This building that it's in, is wayyyy smaller, but they still have the products you need for sports, shooting, fitness, etc.. It's still always awesome getting their random coupons in the mail. Even if you saw something for sale and you forgot your coupon; the workers here are nice enough to give it to you for the sale price, as long as you're not lying and if the sale's still going on. It's pretty clean and well-organized inside, along with great workers who give their customers full attention. I sure do miss seeing Neelam working at this store! She was super cool and had great customer service! Same with the lady with the reddish hair and glasses, who likes watching wrestling! All in all; this Big 5 gets a BIG 5 STARS from me because it's just phenomenal after so many years; plus... you can't go wrong with the huge parking and the fact that it's in a mall.
