DO NOT GO HERE!! My experience with Principle Toyota has been without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever experience out of anywhere I've been. When I initially went to buy my car, the agent repeatedly belittled my family and kept saying how he didn't need us to buy this car and didn't care whether we did or not. What kind of a car salesman talks like that? We hadn't even gotten to negotiations yet. During negotiations, he talked down to my father constantly. When it came down to the loan, he told us there was no way we would get a good rate without even looking until the much nicer finance manager lo' and behold gave us a good rate. Once I bought my car, I was given someone else's license tag or registration and had to go back. Now, I am experiencing the worst customer service at all. I recently had a need for my spare key and went to grab it, only to discover they had given me the WRONG SPARE KEY. It wasn't even electronic like my car requires!! Of course when I call the dealership several times and speak to three different people who all say that they will call me back, no one actually calls me back. On top of that, not a single one of them sounded remorseful or like they wanted to rectify the issue. They didn't even pretend! Even though I love my car, I regret giving this place any business. ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC SERVICE!!!! I sent the following to Toyota... To get right to it, this is a complaint about the Toyota dealers in the Memphis, TN area - Principle and Wolfchase. My wife has taken our car to Principle several times over the past few years and the service has gotten progressively worse. Today was the worst. She called to schedule an oil change and the greeting from the service desk was "We don't be has nuthin' til Friday!". There was no greeting such as "Hello", "Good afternoon", "May I help you?" or anything of the sort. Last time, a few months ago, they were extremely rude to her. I tried to get her to leave but she was already there and waiting for service. I called and left a voice message for the service manager, but I have no desire to return there for any reason. It only took one visit to Wolfchase a few years ago to destroy our opinion of it. After two hours of waiting, they still had not done a thing, and they were not very busy. We have not been back there for any reason! We were thinking of buying a new Toyota sometime soon, but now it looks like we will have to travel somewhere else - if we want to stay with Toyota, that is. We have had seven Toyotas over the last 30 or so years and they have all been good vehicles. Now, I am seriously considering switching brands to Honda. I have heard good things about the local dealer. It is a complete shame that I have two Toyota dealers nearby but their service departments are so absolutely pathetic that they will force me to buy another brand of car just to not have to deal with such incompetence and stupidity. It will affect more than just myself as I believe in helping other people avoid such incompetence whenever I can. I want to know what Toyota is going to do about this! I think you should make some powerful threats about revoking their franchises AND follow through with the promise to do so if things do not improve immediately. Of course, as I said, I am finished with both of them, so it won't do me any good at all. Please understand that your concern is sales/service-related. Therefore, it is the dealer's responsibility to address any sales or service related concerns. Toyota as a manufacturer is responsible for addressing any manufacturer defects or warranty related concerns. Your email has been documented at our National Headquarters. SO THAT MEANS - Toyota is allowing the dealers and their pathetic service departments to drive customers to other brands. I like Toyota cars because of the quality and reliability, but because of Principle Toyota and other dealers in the Memphis area with absolutely pathetic service departments, I will most likely be buying a Honda soon! read more

I was looking for my second car here as someone close told me Toyota is hands down the way to go. I went to Wolfchase Toyota and though the guy worked well with me, of course price was extremely out of budget as if he didn't care so I went here. Kelly Fast asked me a few questions, showed me a few options. I told her I'll think about it and see what else is out there. I did and texted her asking about a completely different car and she was happy to help. She stuck within my budget and I though I have negative equity the process was pretty good. One negative was the guy from wolfchase was able to get the same vehicle down a few hundred and was on the phone while I was about to start paperwork with Kelly and her coworker sitting in the farthest desk from the entrance in the area farthest from the service center was just extremely rude and loud saying "just tell her to leave. We don't need her business." It wasn't the fact that I was going to leave for a few hundred dollars, but someone being that rude would have, but I was so grateful for Kelly helping me save a bit more and I was sold on her help. I had a very bad experience with this business. Aside from being lured to this dealership with a dishonered appointment during Covid-19, I was also given a misleading diagnostic after paying $153.99. I was required to give a deposit for unnecessary repairs by Asst Service Mgr by which I refused and later discovered at another repair shop their diagnostic was totally fabricated. BUYER BEWARE! If NO STAR was possible, they would receive nothing considering their attempts to take advantage of a perceived unknowing customer, especially during a pandemic! read more

I've been here twice for service, the first time it took a while to find someone to help me after purchasing a new car. The second time, I received good service for my first oil change. But this last time was a major let down. I was led to believe they'd done a multipoint inspection. However, I noticed there were no recommendations just a check that everything was good. And this was not the case at previous oil change. Three weeks later my battery dies. Low battery should've been reported in my inspection. I call this Toyota to inquire about purchasing a battery and I'm continuously transferred for the entire time I waited for AAA. So I got a next day appointment at Chuck Hutton Toyota to purchase a battery. They did a multipoint inspection and I found out my car also really needed an alignment. So yea Principle Toyota lost a customer. Chuck Hutton has a nicer staff and complimentary manicures while you wait. read more

So, I had an appointment booked to bring my car in for an oil change at 9:40am, Saturday morning. I get there a little before and drop my car off and asked the guy how long it would take..he said 2 maybe 2 1/2 hours. So I just stayed around the area. At the 3 hour mark I texted the number they gave me to check in, since I didn't hear anything yet. No response. So I walk back to the dealership and try to talk to them in person. The guy helping me out said less than an hour/hour tops! So I sat outside on their bench thinking it wasn't going to be much longer. Unfortunately, it was over 2 hours later. I waited for my car for 5 hours..if I knew that I would've went home and got some stuff done. Not only was it an awful long wait and no one updated me.. but my bill was almost $300! I went in for an oil change and the fact that they didn't update me on stuff and the cost, is ridiculous. Not a happy customer. I will not be returning. read more

I like my car, but this was what I went through to get that car. I want everyone to learn from my mistakes, especially first time buyers. FIRST: This was my first time buying a car... I don't know if it's common for dealers to charge "add-on" fees when the customer didn't request for any add-on... When I told them that "I did not any add-ons. I'm buying the car from your inventory as is." The guy rudely replied, "Well, those already added on to your car..." When I said RUDE, I mean RUDE as if he almost yell at me. The manager ended up taking the price off, but he was rude as well. SECOND: Do not start signing anything before they show you the price with interest rate. That's my biggest mistake... They ran my credit score, which was 789, so I thought I would get the 0.9% interest rate as advertised on their website. Boy, I was wrong. The sales lady (April Hayne) asked me to sign about 1/2 of the paper works, when I asked her about the rate multiple times, she said, "I don't know. You have to talk to Buddy, the finance guy." That's when I know I need to stop signing anything else. THIRD: Please, do your research before you go there. If possible, get pre-approval car loans from your personal bank. They want to charge me with 5-6% interest rate... I told them that I will go back to the Orion Bank because I know they will approve the lower rate for me at 1.79%. Guess what? The finance guy (Buddy) told me, "Well, with the amount you're financing, your interest amount wouldn't make a difference." Really? 1.79% vs 5% is more than DOUBLE the rate, and you're telling me my paid interest amount wouldn't be much difference? I insisted in going to Orion and will come back later... Finally he said, "Well, we finance through Orion Bank, so I can give you 1.79%, too." I thought to myself, "Ok... Then why don't you offer 1.79% instead of 5% in the beginning?" FOURTH: April automatically scheduled a service appointment for me without asking me what time/date I would be available. She said, "I will go ahead and make the appointment for you, you can cancel it if you can't make it later..." Well, the confirmation email shows the appointment was scheduled for a vehicle that I didn't even purchased! I emailed to cancel it but doesn't have a confirmation of the cancellation, yet. FIFTH: In order to get the car loan from Orion Bank, we must create an account there. I know and understand that, so when Buddy said that they can open an Orion account for me. I asked Buddy MULTIPLE times how I can made the minimum deposit to Orion. Do I write Principle Toyota a check for them to make the deposit or what? Buddy told me, "Don't worry about it. We will make the $25 deposit to you. It's on us." Luckily, I double checked when Orion sent a confirmation letter stating that my account has been opened. I stopped by the bank to check. There wasn't any $25 deposit. LOL! I don't need Toyota to make the minimum deposit for me. What I need is an honest businessman. You can tell me that "You can go to the bank to make the deposit after you receive the letter from the bank" rather than lying. LAST: It's 4 days until the temporary plate expire. No one called me, yet, regarding the permanent plate. So I went up there for the second temporary plate. According to them, they can't print out the temporary plate until the day off the original one expired (which would be on the working weekday for me). How inconvenience Principle Toyota made things for the customers... I was NEVER rude during this visit. All of the thoughts were to myself. Of course, they thought I'm a happy customer. I have purchased from the other Toyota dealers and you will not get any better service than with Kelly and the management at Principle Toyota. I went in at 11 am and was out at 2 pm. On a Saturday. Kelly even got me lunch while I was waiting on the finance manager, filling up my purchased truck with fuel and getting the truck cleaned up. My wife and I came prepared for the usual dealership game for deals, but the people here do not take kindly to people that come prepare and with knowledge. They were completely disrespectful, specially to my wife. After their rude treatment to us we tried to talk to the manager. Expecting an apology I was surprised when the guy just started to throw numbers at us and try to get a deal without ever listening to my complains. While i stormed out of the place, another couple was arguing with another representative after because they gave them their car at a worst condition than it was before. Summary: The definition of great service and customer respect. A few years ago my Chevy Malibu with 250,000+ miles on it has reached the point that it if it was a horse I would have had to shoot it. The problem was because of some personal issues I had gone through a bankruptcy a few years earlier and I knew it would be darn near impossible to get credit. I went in looking at a used 2014 Prius c that I saw online. They assured me it was there when I called but when I arrived the girl I had spoken to admitted sheepishly that she had read the wrong inventory sheet. As I was turning to go, she stopped me and I said I didn't like to get played. She said she wasn't trying to play me...that she really did have something better. Turns out they had two brand new 2013 Prius Cs for a few THOUSAND less than the 2014 used car I had looked at that had 20,000+ on it. Well, I'm not a stickler for model year, so I went for it. That's when Buddy Carnett came into the picture. That man spent almost two hours jumping through hoops and calling every single lender he could think of to try and find me a loan to get the car. It was wall to wall "no"s because of the bankruptcy until he finally (on what I think was the 30th or 31st attempt) found a place that would do it but at an interest rate that was high enough it could drive itself. Beggars can't be choosers. I took it and I loved the car. Flash forward to December 2016. My car was totaled in a collision. Thankfully, when I had bought the car, Buddy wouldn't let me leave without gap insurance. My insurance covered all but a thousand of the loan on the old car...and that gap insurance was a blessing. Well, after all Buddy did to help me the first time, I contacted him and said I'd like to get another Prius through them. He had the paperwork ready to go before I even arrived and I literally was in and out of the dealership in under an hour. This guy is a class act and genuinely cares about the customer. Bottom line: If you want a Toyota, you want this place and you want to work with Buddy. read more

If you're in the market for a Toyota, look no further. Performance Toyota and Brittney Dawson - That's the only names you need to remember when you're car shopping. I'm a Camry girl. I needed to trade in my old Camry that I made the huge mistake of leasing. Another dealership informed me that the best way out was to buy/trade it when the lease was up, but of course, that dealership wasted a lot of my time before informing us they couldn't pull it off. They weren't the only dealership to do that. Unlike those other dealerships that let me wait for hours before divulging that I couldn't trade it, Performance was honest with me upfront. Yes, they laughed a little when I told them I leased it, and reminded me never to do that again. (Not that I needed a reminder. Lesson learned!) I couldn't trade it because it was so upside down, so I had to suck it up and turn it in and buy another car. We thoroughly enjoyed working with Brittney. She was very sweet, pleasant and knowledgable about the cars she sells. In fact, she drives one herself. I told her what I liked, and she took me to the exact car. We test drove, got approved for financing, and took our new car home within a couple of hours. At Performance, our experience was completely hassle free. The service department made an error when they originally made my appointment to complete three separate recalls, and had to reschedule at a time that was not convenient. When I asked about a loaner car for the day because of the error and the length of the service time as a result of manufacturing errors, I was told, "If you want that kind of service you should really get a Lexus." On the positive side, I think they successfully completed the recalls, though they didn't correctly reset my dashboard clock. read more

Today my car had a flat tire and so my husband pumped it up and I remembered I had a warranty that we paid for and it included my tires so I drove to Gossett. (25 min. ) I was a walk in at Gossett and my first impression was, wow, they will not have time for me, because everyone was on the phone, very, very busy, but the guy who had looked at my tire (Marty,he needs a raise, he's awesome) waited until someone had time to talk to me. Libra(he needs a raise too) talked with me, looked up our plan, and found me a tire. Since it was close to time to service my car everything was taken care of at once, the same day. "Libra is so good at his job." Now how can the service department improve? "This is no place for elderly or people who can't stand forever." There is not one place for a person waiting to sit. All of the employees have a places to sit, but you can tell no one is thinking of the customer here. There was an elderly woman standing for 15 min. waiting. Libra mentioned it to the women working (I love this man but the women don't need a raise for they all stated they were too busy, except for Jody, who is also trying to help people standing around. ) When she was asked if she had made an appointment and she said no, the employees just walked away. So maybe you need an employee working who can take the name of a customers who walks in and give them a number, and have them sit down in the huge area next door PLEASE, and call them when your employees behind the desk have time for them. What a bad impression Gossett. You have so many bad reviews. Even Waffle House does this. Step it up and join Ford Hyundai who I think has the best service department. People pay for your service. So to start we had a great experience with Sandeep buying our new 2020 Rav 4 LE, but everything after that was pretty lousy. They started by losing the keys to the Mercedes that got traded in, then when offing crossbars and black out symbols it took nearly 45 minutes. There wasn't anyone in front of us, we were first in line but it took 45 minutes anyway and 15 the next day to pick up the emblems. Then when we get them installed they stated that it would take 2 2/1 hours to put on just 3 emblems and crossbars. ( I did this on my own 05 tundra in less than 20 min ). Then when we came back 3 hours after the call it turns out they hadn't even started yet and we had to wait yet another hour. This Toyota is terrible at service and needs to get better before I stop brining our Tundra, Rav 4, and 4runner in to them anymore. read more

I took my car into get oil change and asked them to check the tire pressure since it just went off and told him I have an 8hr road trip to do early the next morning. I suspected it was due to the drastic weather drop, and told them to check. I had an appt and waited over 3 hours for a basic oil change... so finally I get my car back for what should have been 1hr worth of service or less and get my key, already paid and had to change my doctor appt cause I didn't have a means to get there and get back before they close and they are too far in the burbs and I live 30 min away. So as the guy hands me my keys I happen to ask him about the tire light. He then told me that I had a flat tire and they put some air in it. Seriously? Wtf? You wait till I'm leaving and about to take an 8 hr road trip in 12 hours and you let me leave with a flat tire and we're not going to tell me until I asked?? And didn't offer to replace it with the spare or to replace it entirely since I'm at the dealer you know they have the freaking tire! Wtf! Don't you want my money? You rather send me out unsafe and at no point with in the 3 damn hours you didn't even care to tell me I have a flat tire?! I could have sued them. So not go to this place. Awful people!! read more
