The staff is very nice and checks on you consistently throughout your meal. The food is spectacular. I can't say enough about it, the food is great, the salads are huge, and you'll never have an empty glass. I'd give more stars if i could. Overall I'll certainly be back!

Had lunch at Downtown Eats on Friday, and I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately, the service was five-star, but the food took a wrong turn somewhere along the way. Our server was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and on top of everything. No complaints whatsoever there. We started with the hush puppies, although calling them hush puppies might be underselling their size. These things were like hush dogs. They were enormous and supposedly had crab and shrimp in them, but unfortunately, both the crab and shrimp must have been on vacation because we couldn't taste either one. They were fried, but somehow not crunchy, which made the whole thing a little confusing. The remoulade was decent, but at $12-$13 for the appetizer, I expected a little more excitement and maybe some crunch. For lunch, my wife had the Shrimp tacos and I had the Korean tacos. I'm still trying to figure out exactly what happened with the tacos. They were essentially slaw tacos, which is an interesting concept... just not one either of us was particularly interested in eating. Neither of us finished our meals. And that's probably the best way to describe the experience: everything seemed like it was just a couple of streets over from being really good. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was pleasant, and maybe we simply caught them on an off day. But unfortunately, the food missed the mark for us. Service: 5 Food: 2 Overall: 2 1/2 I'd give Downtown Eats another shot because the service was that good. But next time, I may bring a map and see if we can get the food those last couple of streets closer to good. Our name for Downtown Eats until next time is OK Eats.

After utilizing…read morethe Yelp search tool to be my personal guide to the restaurants Powder Springs, I decided to head over to Hiram to try out Big Doug's. After seeing the pictures of everyone else's food I had to go. Big Doug's was super easy to find and the parking was easily accessible (even after I missed the first turn in). Once parked, we headed inside and were met with a smiling car who welcomed us into Big Doug's, confirmed our party size (2), and immediately took us to our booth. First off... kudos on the stellar service. I'm talking top tier welcome, pleasant greetings, and a warm closing. The young lady was AMAZING! As I headed to my booth I was captivated by the size of Big Doug's as this place is hugeeeeeeee. However, though it is huge, there is a warm, cozy atmosphere that reminds you of a mom and pop diner in a small town Hallmark film. LoL Once seated, we were greeted by Haven and Haven made sure to continue with the stellar service that stayed at the door. I loveeeeeeeee Haven. She was so pleasant. Very warm, attentive to the needs of the table, and had a bubbly personality that was ideal for a Saturday morning interaction. Haven is the waitress you read about in reviews but never get to meet in real life... Well, I did. Ha!!!!!! The menu fits the vibe and provides a variety of home cooked classics. Me being me, I decided on French Toast and Hot Links with a Sweet Tea... Let's talk food... French Toast: Warm, crispy edges, chewy center, perfectly made, amazing flavor profile. I ordered one but now I know to order four next time because it was amazing. I'll use all my carbs for the day on these. Hot Links: I told Haven to tell the cook that I needed them dark like me and they understood the assignment. My hot links were crunchy on each side but meaty and juicy in the middle. Oh yes, these links were done right. Sweet Tea: Listen... Two Words: More Please!!! It was so good I needed a cup to go... trust... if you know me (or my reviews) you know I don't play about my sweet tea. Big Doug's sweet tea can be put in a bottle and sold at the front, because I need four of these as well. All in all, my experience at Big Doug's was amazing. It lives up to the branding of "Fried, Tried, and Southern Certified!" Ooh... I almost forgot... They have the cleanest and prettiest bathrooms this side of the Mississippi. To the owner and management of Big Doug's, thank you. You are appreciated. Your team represents the brand very well and the experience is top tier. #iApprove

Upon entering we noticed immediately how cramped and tight it felt. Previous visits were open and relaxe. Today we felt tight and rushed. With the loss of an entire dining room, on a busy Saturday Winter morning, no waiting room at the front door, it was stress immediately because everyone was shoulder to shoulder and even the tables are really close together. Other patrons mentioned the same feeling as we were basically sitting at the waiting area. I don't pretend to know why this change was made. Perhaps it was a business necessity or a temporary situation. What I do know is that it isn't working for atmospheres. I truly enjoyed the feel of it. I have places I brunch where that togetherness dining works so it isn't a crowd issue for me. The Junction in Charleston is a great example of close dining that works. My breakfast was good but husband's scrambled eggs were too scrambled and dry. It only appeared as one egg also. Their grits had a great creaminess and my sourdough was awesome. Service was awesome and the food arrived extremely quick. Very hard workers and we appreciate them!
