We purchased fabric on December 30,2024 and hired Printer's Alley to recover a chair for us. We paid in full the the reupholster work at that time. We were told to bring the chair into the store the first week in February and their upholster would pick the chair up and it would be back in two weeks. After about 4 weeks I went into the store to inquire and was told the upholster was running behind as one of her workers was out sick, but the chair would be back the next week. I never heard anything the next week so I went back into the store and was told "hopefully, next week." I explained we were having an event and must have the chair back by April 3. I received a text the end of March stating the upholster was working diligently to get the chair recovered. On Tuesday, April 1, the chair was finally ready. I picked the chair up and am very dissatisfied with the job. After someone sat on the chair for the first time, the fabric on the back is already lose and not holding its shape. I am going to have to have it recovered again. I do NOT recommend Printer's Alley for upholstery work. Here is a list of upholsters I got from Mill Outlet. I needed 3 yards of light blocking lining for a drape I was making for a client. I had already made 5 drapery panels using the off white lining. I brought in a sample and handed it to a sales person. He went over to the the rolls of lining and found the kind I was looking for. The sample I brought in was a little off white. I didn't stand over the sales person as he was rolling out the fabric so I didn't see that what he was rolling out was bright white. I got home and could see the difference once I laid it next to the fabric I had already been using. Wow, very different side by side. So I go back to see if they had the off white, no. The sales person said, "Can't you use it(meaning the bright white). Do you really think she will notice"? I was stunned. So the next day I go to Mill Outlet and they had exactly what I needed at about ONE THIRD the price. I don't know if there are huge quality differences in lining fabric but it looks and feels exactly like the lining I purchased at Mill Outlet. I don't think I will ever go back. read more

I recently worked with Nicole, she was absolutely wonderful! I ran in a few minutes before they were closing, I asked if I could look quickly and she said take your time. I was thinking wow, that is so nice of her in this day and time! She stayed with me about 45 minutes past closing. I gave her my charge card, took a few fabric samples, books and pillows out on approval for one of my clients. A few days later I called to hold a bolt of fabric, could not get back for several days. I text her to charge the bolt of fabric, books, 2 pillows and had these picked up. When I left she wrapped the pillows and helped me out. She gave me plenty of time to make a decision on the things out on approval. Printers Alley is lucky to have someone as nice and thoughtful as Nicole working for them. It seems like lately it's harder to find good customer service, thank you Nicole for making my time relaxing and enjoyable at Printers Alley Nicole is the best because of her will be back very soon! Really bad customer service, communication, general management and lack of accountability to customers. It's hard to believe a business doesn't return calls, follow up with loyal customers after reporting an issue several times and finally telling a customer "oh well"! I recommend that future customers read some of these reviews and ensure you're willing to take the risk of not getting what you paid for and know that there is a decent chance you will be disappointed in your decision to shop here. read more

I read all the reviews before I went into the store. I was expecting so-so service based on a number of reviews. I wandered around looking at material for about 10 minutes ( I had in my head the fabric I wanted and had almost decided to "settle" for something that I wasn't 100% sure about. My sister and I were discussing one fabric when Dana asked us what we were looking for. We commiserated about designing fabric in our heads and not being able to find it.....and then she pulled out every sample book she had in the color I was looking for....and Viola! there was my fabric! She told me about the quality, whether it was appropriate for my usage and then called 3 times to find prices on my choices! Once I made my final choice, she ordered it, stating it would be about 10 days, so probably the 1st of the year 2021. She then measured out another fabric for a wing back chair and had just the right amount! While we were waiting for phone calls she asked where I was from, she wanted to see a picture of the dog I was picking up from a breeder near Asheville and was just a blast to talk to! When she called today we discussed gimp (braid) and she asked if my dog was all I wanted him to be....she remember me specifically and then told me my fabric was in! (A week early!) I cannot understand any of these negative reviews, because she found my fabric, spent lots of time with me (juggling some other customers also!), and was a treat, as was her co-worker. The negative reviews must have been written by negative people, because I will drive the 160 miles from my house to shop there any day! read more

Great selection of fabrics and priced nicely too. I Wasn't jumped on right away when I walked into the store, which was nice. I was able to take my time in browsing. A salesperson did reach out to me to see if I needed any help or had questions. When I was ready with questions the salesperson was eager to help. Not pushy and very helpful. I had a horrible experience at this store. I totally felt like I was "pretty woman-ed" because I came in with yoga pants and a sweatshirt on. I was in there for over an hour and the "fancy" people that came in after me got helped before me. Actually I never got helped. When I texted my husband to tell him that no one would help me he asked me to get out. I am so sadden that a store would treat someone this way. I posted about my experience on FB and another friend wrote that she had the same experience. Please consider bringing your business somewhere else. This is just sad and horrible. I'm so glad my daughter wasn't with me because I teach her to be kind to everyone no matter how they look. read more

I needed to have my antique sofa reupholstered. I looked at the reviews and thought it might be worth the extra hour drive to a different location to avoid the Raleigh store, but was interested in checking them out as they are 15 minutes from where I work. I think one's tendency is to write negative reviews and after the service, time, and end result that I had with Ibby and the other staff at the Raleigh shop, I thought it a crime if I allowed only negatives to be spoken - these folks are OUTSTANDING and deserve your patronage. The vast selection, the time they took with me for the cutting of swatches, the follow up with calls, texts, and emails, and the pricing were all above and beyond for great customer service anywhere.
