Whole section of the house dropping out but no breakers tripping? Surge protector strips frying? We called our electrical service provider numerous times with no one showing up for days! Finally 2:am Saturday night I'm awakened by my son saying "Dad, the furnace is making a buzzing noise and electrical smoke / smell is coming from one of the circulator boxes?"" The Main is shut off! Sunday morning I make a call at 6:am to Terra Electric seeing their reviews and "24hr. Service" I figured I'd leave a message on their answering service. Well, needless a say I wake Paul up and after a daisy chain of apologies for the early call he takes mt info & address and said I'll be over later in the morning. Paul arrived, evaluated the ongoing issues and proceeded to check our service panel as well as our back up generator because it never picked in when we tripped the service main, Which he felt was odd? He stated flat out it's not your panel because everything checks out perfect! He said, Mark it your service coming in from your provider!! We went out and he notice a lot of moisture in the meter and did not like the condition of the drop and the meter base. He said lets manually switch over to your back up and "Bingo" everything in the house was run purfect!! Monday morning low and behold a member of our electrical provider finally shows says your reading are all good and plugs in a new meter and the generator drops off and we're back on the power grid. Laughing about my statement on my electrician is going to replace the corroded power line drop and meter base he leaves stating to put in a claim if anything was damaged from the bad meter. In less than an hour after the providers field tech swapped and left the electric starts going "crazy" again blowing half our spa breaker and the furnace thermostats??? Shortly after we shut the the main off again Paul's crew shows up and gets to work, Thank God! Terra had our new drop mounted checking everything over again and flipped the main back on to the grid? I'm telling you that moment when everything was running correct again was worth every penny!! They found the ground and natural connecting lugs lose up top which caused the current to connect and disconnect in the wind or power draws!! Thank You ! I tested every outlet with a multimeter and couldn't find the problem. It was during the holidays and the gentleman from Terra came out to see what the problem was. He listened to all the information I had available, used it to narrow in on some areas I didn't check (light fixture in the bathroom) and managed to fix the issue within 45 minutes. While he was going about his work we made good conversation, very nice guy. He even asked me to, if I was comfortable doing so, remove the face plates on all the outlets in the house to save him time and me money. I had already done that once before so no problem there. Decent price as well for the work and I'm very particular about that since I do a lot of my own work on the house. I'm very pleased with them and will be using them as my go-to electrician for issues we have over the years with our old house. Very happy to have stumbled upon them!

It wouldn't have taken more than a word from him for me to sign the check. But he was hesitant. Gave me the low down on how big companies want to prematurely replace working systems. My wife and I bought a house in Havertown, PA while living in California. My local parents…read moreinformed me that the A/C was not working. My wife and I engaged with Borden as the unit is a Bosch and not all A/C companies service the brand. My wife gave the receptionist her credit card number and asked her to fix any issues and/or perform routine maintenance. She made this request because we did not trust my parents that the A/C was not working (user error more likely). We did not hear from Borden on the day of scheduled service. The next day my wife told me her credit card was billed $1200. Via text or email, the technician explained that my parents were using the wrong thermostat. The technician proceeded to place a float safety at the secondary drain pan and also recommended adding another return to the unit. He charged 300 dollars an hour for labor. His half hour drive was also billed at 300 dollars an hour. Let me be very clear. There was nothing wrong with the unit. My parents did not see a second thermostat. The technician then did 1200 dollars of work without consulting us. A float switch installation should not take 2 and a half hours by an expert. Three hundred dollars an hour is an expert wage. To top it off, a week or so later, our painter informed us the A/C was not working. My wife found a different company. That technician found that the float safety valve turned the unit off. The drain pan was full (good job Borden). When he purged the drain line, he found expected sludge and also PVC shavings and glue. So... Borden did a good job installing a float valve, but the shoddy workmanship contributed to a blockage. The new company charged $150 to clear the line. If I could give Borden zero stars, I would. I don't begrudge anyone trying to making a buck, but I certainly will never do business with them again.

In all honesty, the prices were not super far off - the recommendations, or lack of were the biggest variable between all of our proposals. This is kind of long, but like others have mentioned, the experience was so good that I wanted to make sure to take the time to give this feedback. 1. Borden was the only one who recommended a chimney liner in our new system. Which is important in the newer 84% because the temps are not as high as they used to be. But even more important in the 90% model where the water heater would be an orphaned appliance. Which is actually a pretty serious safety concern. 2. Borden was also the only one who recommended a new expansion tank and offered to cut back to the steel one if we wanted to shave a little off of the price. A number of places i looked said that the amount of new installs they see using an older tank is mind boggling. And there are numerous benefits to the new style including eliminating air, rather than just controlling it. 3. Borden was the only one to add more options ala carte, especially the outdoor reset option. I really appreciate the flexibility your proposal offers. 4. Borden was the only one who actually opened the boiler to make sure they saw it was leaking etc. Everyone else heard "new boiler", saw dollar signs and that was about it. 5. Borden was also the only owner to come out! Which i think is extra important when it's one of these big jobs where you are not only trying to get the customer set up with a good system, but start a relationship for service and maintainability in the future. Mission Accomplished. Finally, they took tons of time with me explaining how each component would be installed, and a very thoughtful and insightful explanation into why you recommend those pieces. Not at all in a pushy sales way. I'm really excited about our new system and it just so happens today is the coldest day of the year and we have invaluable peace of mind! It also looks like a work of art - the company absolutely takes pride in their craft and it shows.

An A/C specialist ("FRED") from Superior Comfort Heating & Cooling LLC phoned me on Weds. afternoon April 24th 2024, and he was here before 8am the very next morning (Thurs) to inspect my split-type central A/C system. He quickly determined that the outdoor Condenser Unit and the indoor 'Coil' needed replacement. FRED then contacted my property manager. He returned before 8am the following morning (Friday April 26th) with several large boxes of new A/C equipment (Carrier brand), which he temporarily stored in the garage here. On Saturday morning (April 27th), FRED returned before 8am again, this time with a helper he called his "duct man". They wasted no time in getting to work. I was impressed and amazed by the speed and efficiency with which they worked together. Two hard-working, knowledgeable, experienced individuals working together seamlessly. They completed their work within hours, MUCH more quickly than I expected. They left absolutely no mess behind them. It went up to 90F a couple days later, and I was glad to feel that my central A/C system was now working like new again. Big difference.
