At Prison Hill Brewing, I don't believe they have let a single beer breakout - checkout my pic of their variety on tap! The vibe is upbeat, friendly and refreshing. The outdoor dining is perfectly positioned for the shade from the afternoon sun. The indoor seating is ample. It was interesting to note that staff gets swamped with work, then eases and gets swamped again - patience works well here. We had a good time people watching: locals, snowbirds and tourists all comingle well here. This is gastropub dining. So plan your expectations and calorie counting accordingly. We started with Fried Avocados. There were 2 huge avocados (that were halved - see my pic), battered, deep fried and served with Blue Cheese dressing. The breading was crunchy and the avocados were creamy and rich. When you added the dressing, it was really, really rich and filling. We shared the brisket and pulled pork plate - which was good. We had more than enough food for the two of us. The brisket was a bit dry. Enough though there was a good smoke ring, there wasn't too much in the way of smoky flavor. The pulled pork was also the same: a bit dry and a bit under flavored. The beans were good. And the tortillas were a nice southwestern touch - they had good flavor. I try to always hit up local breweries when I travel so after a quick search found this place. Let me say it did not disappoint. I'll start with the service. Our waitress was super friendly. Also the other waitresses would also check on us when they were around. They were all very attentive. The food was great. We got a sampler platter that came with chicken strips pretzels smoked sausage and fried avocado's. They were all fantastic. We also got the halfway house salad with chicken. It's basically the half order of salad. Again really good. Both me and the wife were full and couldn't even finish the items. The beer was great. I got the jail bird and wife got the house hef also really good. I will definitely be back next time in Yuma. I highly recommend. read more

Came here as our last stop before heading back home. SERVICE - Our waitress was nice and checked in often. FOOD Caesar Salad - Solid salad! Nachos - I personally like nachos on tortilla chips. These were offered on either potato chips or fries. We opted for fries. These were okay as the fries didn't give it much texture. More mushy. Elote - Solid dish. Sweet corn with all the good toppings! Grilled Cheese - This was too much for my liking. Too much happening and the bread wasn't crisp enough. The place is busy as ever with a new fantastic patio. Probably post covet. I don't live near downtown but the place is still a fun place to stop in for a beer. They make several of their own and they have fantastic rotating guest handles. They have tons of homemade food but just like everywhere else. The sandwich has gotten smaller but the smoked meats are still homemade and fantastic. They serve them with homemade chips and you can get a sign salad with a bunch of fun homemade dressings. Or you could go and get fries or other funnel alternatives for your sides. I started off for the poutine and added some brisket for 45 bucks. More. Large Beer Menu. Great Outdoor Patio We were driving in historic downtown Yuma and saw their outdoor patio and had to stop. The patio is large and we had no problem getting a seat on a Friday evening at about 6:30. Service was a little slow, but this place was packed with patrons. Only wanting a snack, our server recommended the Fried Avocado appetizer. I ordered a pint of Insurrection Amber ($7.25), a malty ale that had a good taste. Our Fried Avocado ($8.99) arrived quickly. It looked like one large avocado cut into four wedges, dipped in a very light, seasoned tempura like batter, deep fried, and served with lime wedges and a very tasty chipotle ranch dressing cup. As you bite into the wedge you get the light crunch of the batter and the silky smooth avocado and the ranch dip just adds to this great experience. Clearly, we like avocados and found this to be outstanding! I wrapped up our visit with a pint of Bunny With Chainsaw ($7.25), an imperial IPA at 8.2% ABV. I'm typically not an IPA fan, but I liked this one. The bartenders and servers will gladly bring you tasters so you can 'try before you buy'. During our visit, it cooled off a bit as is typical for the desert, and when we requested, the staff fired up an upright gas fired heater right next to our table and it worked perfectly. Our hiking group meet up at the Brewery after a short hike for lunch and adult beverages. We called in advance to reserve the outside patio for our group and the bike riders from our park that were joining us. The patio was pleasant and provided ample space for us all and our dogs. The service was great, friendly and our meals were delivered in a timely manner. Those at my table all seemed to enjoy their meals which included the spring rolls, fish and chips and salad. Being a larger group there was an automatic tip added of 20 percent. We will Definitely go back in the future. read more

Great celiac safe options. Don't eat anything out of the fryer. Burger and GF bun was edible and very tasty. We loved our meal and server was knowledgeable about the gluten containing items. This was the entire reason we came here driving thru on a road trip. Needing to eat safely is really important and I did not get sick! I love the name and the theme of the place and beers are also pretty fun. I couldn't drink any of them but they have a few ciders available if you are looking for a gluten free alcoholic drink that isn't liquor. Great food- great outdoor patio and huge inside. We stopped in on a Friday afternoon just after the lunch rush, about 1:30pm. The downtown Yuma block is a surprisingly sweet walkabout. The food here was terrific actually. The Fried Chicken and Waffles were perfectly crispy and sweet/salty and the Chicken Clucker Sandwich (chicken salad) was so so good. Creamy and crispy with celery and almonds and sweet onions with a side if crisp potato chips. The beer was fine. But puh-lease ... could we have a side of Friendly? Welcoming? A smile perhaps? Anything but gruff and condescending. The food is great, but the service was a huge turn-off. read more

Wow. Great food, great beer, great service! Stopped in when traveling through Yuma. I ordered the chipotle shredder, the brisket was smoked to perfection, a tad crunchy but not burnt- exactly how I love it. Served on a brioche bun with homemade chips and a side, I had the fries (delish). Ugh it was so good. Big portions, so lucky for me, I have half for dinner tonight! Hubs ordered the wrecker, with local sausage, brisket and pulled pork. Zero complaints! Beers were brewed on site - we ordered the raspberry blonde and the ipa. We sat at the back outdoor patio since we had our furry friends with us. Was very nice back there as they had artificial turf for our pets to rest on. They really enjoyed that. Our server Raquel was amazing! Kept checking on us to make sure we were doing ok. Considering she was the only server there at the time she was amazing. We were also the only table sitting in the back patio and we never once felt like we were forgotten about. I ordered the fish and chips and it was delicious. Not overly breaded and oily. Crisp and light. Their tarter sauce was also very delicious and the steak fries were cooked perfectly also. The blackened salmon according to my friend and Boyfriend was amazing. (I didn't try it). The potato salad was delicious. The mac salad was ok but preferred the potato salad hands down. The pretzel was very good and the beer cheese sauce was delicious. Loved that the bread was super light and soft on the inside and had the good crunch on the outside and just enough salt. Stop in here if in the area. You won't be disappointed. read more

Nice little brewery and restaurant in old town Yuma. The front part is the beer taps and bar and the sides and rear are the tables. Good crowd in the restaurant when we went. Good service too. If you get the chance to order a fried avocado, don't miss. Lightly breaded (think tempura) and served with a spicy sauce. Very unique. Ample food and beer selection. Recommend! read more

Under staffed, poor service. I had on a previous occasion the vatos locos beer which had a somewhat of an amber taste. This time it was very bitter. I couldn't drink it. When I questioned the bar tender she basically told me I didn't know what I was talking about. Previously it was an amber color, this time it looked like a blonde ale. read more

Came here on a not busy Saturday evening (multiple empty tables ) . It took over 1 hour to get our food and when it finally arrived my "drunk tank burger " bun was very very stale and my fries were very cold . My wife got the pulled pork and brisket. After she finally got it we had to wait another 10 mins for silverware . The waiter only came out to take the order and deliver the food. It's rare that I review a place so low but this place is just horrible . read more

This place marks high for the location, being downtown near the action. Super cool venue. Pretty girls and a wide variety of beer. The food is adequate and I think they really do try on the flavor. Definitely will return. Where they fall short is staff. Some of them don't belong there. They are lazy, unprofessional and slow. They are too laid back working there. Anytime I needed something I had to get up and go to find the waiter or waitress as they are always congregating near the bar or talking to each other. I started to feel like I was working there. Most seem to be more involved with hanging out with their friends (coworkers) then they do serving the customers. I guess this is more for the manager. Too many places will end up empty without good service even with good food and a cool venue. Managers need to manage the staff. read more

This place is a hilarious experience. The food is served on sad, flimsy aluminum plates. The stall doors in the women's bathroom resound with a clang like jail cells in movies. It's quite the sensory experience. The food isn't bad. The vegetables (my least favorite of almost any meal) were lightly but pleasantly seasoned. The burger and chips were decent.
