However, one time when we got there early in the morning to avoid having to wait and to not have as much chemical smell in the air, we noticed them diluting the nail polish with acetone. And sure enough, that day my nail polish was all wrinkled and cracked before I even got home. Lesson - bring your own polish. read more

I LOVE May and Jesse! They ventured out on their own to build their own business together after many years and gave us Pristine Nails! Hallelujah! I was a client to both May and Jesse at their previous location...where the management, it turned out, was not so nice to them. I was never disappointed with the services they provided: mani/pedi & waxing. I found myself partial to May as her pedicures are like a religious experience. She surgically takes care of your neglected feet, removing unwanted skin, shaping, even sculpting your toe nails, then finishing off your experience with a leg and foot massage that will leave you with your mouth agape and drool rolling down your chin! Embarrassing yes, but she is probably used to it. So for my birthday I paid a visit to their brand new location, their own venture and I was soooo impressed and embarrassed that it took me so long to get there! The salon is immaculate. They sat me in a chair that is much more stylish than the usual chair but looked uncomfortable. Not only was this the best spa chair I have sat in but the massagers actually worked! They worked in an alternating pattern that really loosened up my back. Meanwhile, Jesse was massaging my hands and May massaging my feet! Total relaxation!!! I highly recommend Pristine Nails! Probably the worst gel mani I have gotten in my life. The only good thing about this, was that it was cheap. To begin with I have very strong nails, the lady didn't even wrap my nails to take off the gel. She just put them in a jail polish remover and didn't wait much. Started peeling them and peeling my own nails at the same time. It was pretty painful and I kept saying but she wouldn't listen. My nails became so weak and thin by the time she was done. When she was painting my nails, it felt like it was her first time doing it. She kept missing spots and making mistakes that I had to point out. This used to be my favorite place to go get my nails and waxing done. I have been going to this nail place for the past 3+ years BUT its time to move on. I have verbally referred several people here but it is a shame that just this past Tuesday was my last day there. I took my sister in law there to get a full set hoping she would transition into a full time customer. But aafter that day, I know she will never go back and I am embarrassed to have taken her there. The nail technician, Nancy does a great job with gel manis but it's not enough for me to stay. Tammy, the owner lately has been behaving in the most abrupt manner with her clients. Tammy did my sister in laws full set and was so rude in asking her length, type, and style. I have had the same type of treatment from her when I have had to go back for a nail fix. The attitude she gives you is unecessary. I have offered to pay for any repairs needed. I am not asking for a freebie but the attitude does not stop. I really enjoy coming here to see Tammy. She is a very professional manicurist and easy to talk to. I can tell she works very hard and she has high integrity at what she does. Every time I left the nail salon I never had a disappointment, when I look at my nails whether it is right after the service or 2 weeks later my nails look PERFECT. I get acrylic set from her and she always has done a meticulous job... which is very hard to find these days. Her salon is VERY clean, light, and spacious. went here for an emergency pedi because my normal place was packed and i was apparently not smart enough to make a reservation. pretty normal, run of the mill nail place. they do have OPI and other higher end polishes but i dont feel like their selection of colors was amazing. the pedi itself was nothing special...stardard stuff. i did notice the manicurist didn't do too great on making my nails all the same length @_@ the massage wasnt that amazing either. bottom line: i like my other nail place better and would rather wait a day for an appointment than come here. so sorry read more

Went in around noon on a Saturday and only had to wait about 15 minutes. In the mean time they set me up in a chair and were soaking my gel nail polish to remove it. I had a really sweet girl named melony (I think that was her name :/). She was great though! I showed her a picture of how I wanted my nails shaped and she did a great job. What I really loved about this place is that they remove gel nail polish very quickly and they don't ruin the nail in the process. Normally when I get it removed at other places they shave down the polish and I just feel that's terrible for the nail. At pristine nails they soak and then scrape the polish off. I paid $41 for gel mani and regular pedi and I think I will go back! I just wish they had more options for nail designs, but other than that I am pretty satisfied! read more

My recent visit is a reminder why I didnt frequent this place for years. I got a gel matte mani and regular pedi. Pedi is holding up fine, but the gel mani chipped within 4 days :( after 6 days, half my nails on each hand had barely any gel (and I wore gloves when doing hard labor). Other places I frequent typically last 2-3 weeks without any chips or cracks. I would not recommend this place for the latest nail designs and color. I asked for matte nails and they were definitely not matte, still had a gloss. Even my technician realized it so she had the owner finish applying the matte polish. They both casually played it off like this is how it's supposed to look. Now I know why I was always willing to pay the extra dollars at the newer salon down the street. read more

I almost opted for three stars, but the description here is dead on: I've experience BETTER. For honesty's sake, this place is not terrible because you get what you pay for. It's cheap... So I come in for an appointment. I sit in the massage chair and the nice (yet busy!) woman gives me a fast pedicure. This place is small, clean, but there's no management present. The poor woman doing my pedicure answered the phone four/five times durning our session. She kept getting up to write appointments and coming back a little less interested in my pedicure. At first, I figured the reception must have just been on break. But then it happened again... and again... and again. I got about 30 second of massage per foot before all the tools were dumped into the tank below my feet (ew!!) and left there while someone else came over for my manicure. At the end of the session, a few men who must have been boyfriends (maybe management?) came out of the back and just sat, watching TV, while the line of women giving treatments continued to work. It was really weird... End of the day, it cost me $26. Mani/Pedi, decently done. My manicure lasted me four days (whatever) but I probably won't be coming back. read more

I still cringe whenever I see the word "spa" being used in places in the US because frankly, you kind of expect to see five-star treatment with relaxing music, scented candles, and mood lights in one. Pristing Nails and Spa is basically a Nail Salon where you come in, wait for 2 minutes, get your nails done in 15 minutes, let it dry for 5 minutes (if you have polish on), pay and leave. They do give you a small bottle of water but I do not drink from disposable plastic bottles anyway. It also looks like their tools are sanitized every after use as they get a new pack for each customer. That's the only resemblance to a real spa. Will I come back? It's cheap and gets your nails clean in time for a night out so probably yes, if I find myself in Los Angeles again. read more

I came here yesterday to get a gel mani and a pedi. The girls did an amazing job, my review is for Tammy (gel mani) and Kelly (pedi). They're amazing, attentive and did my nails exactly as I expected (which is nearly impossible as I'm super picky). In less than an hour and a half I was done with both of my services. I liked my experience here a lot, they had a great selection of polishes and gels. The place is clean and quiet; perfect for trying to relax. The staff is sweet and accommodating. They used to work at a nail salon in Eagle Rock and when they left service went downhill significantly so naturally I followed them here:). I've been to a million different nail salons, this one is just like the 2 stars says, "Meh. I've experienced better." Although the nail techs and everyone there were extremely nice, its not worth my $12 for a manicure that chips an hour later, uneven nails, (left hand was filed way shorter than my right hand), and I think the nail polish was old.
