I typically research most any big purchase. I check previous recent reviews before visiting brick & mortar stores to chat with sales staff or owners and then in this case get an in home measurement and free quote. My home is no youngster being built in 1953 so floor level and plumb are not in its vocabulary. I knew replacing carpet in my 3 bedrooms and vinyl in my laundry room with LVP was beyond my diy skills. I am fit but my 71 year old knees are not up to the task. I stopped in at Pritchett's Flooring in Colonial Heights and got to know the owner Sam. I picked out samples of LVP to take home and to get necessary approval from co-CEO (wife). Sam's daughter Tina was able to schedule Sam for measurements, floor evaluation and quote for that afternoon which was a pleasant surprise. Sam is very courteous and knows his business. The prices were fair. We hashed out the details, signed contract, paid fee and scheduled the work for about a week away. Luis and Jose arrived on time the appointed day. Super nice guys. They quickly sized up their plan and got to work. Aside from knicknacks which I moved they moved all furniture carefully. All removed carpet and old vinyl were placed in their van but what surprised me was how thorough they prepped the area. No carpet staples, carpet threads, not a trace of leftovers. Nada. I felt bad for the workers but they continued nonstop. No breaks for lunch or snacks. The job that I felt would take 1.5 days was done in one day. The completed job far surpassed my expectations in quality. I watched and sometimes gawked at how efficiently Luis and Jose performed the installation. The seam fits of planks and molding are perfect. I have a 4 inch stepdown from living room to laundry room and figured this would require multi pieces. Somehow they were able to manufacture a curved 1 piece LVP bullnose that looks terrific. These guys are GOOD. In hindsight we are very happy we chose Pritchett's Flooring and will definitely keep them in mind for future needs. read more

These guys are the best. They replaced our 20 year old rug Inlaid in October and just last week came out again because we wanted to replace the carpet on our third floor with engineer wood. They are very affordable and dependable. We were expecting them to say that it couldn't be done until the New year but it was less than 5 days from when they came out to do the estimate and installation. They were done in less than 5 hours and didn't make a lot of noise either. Both gentlemen were very nice and friendly and kept us informed throughout the process. We had a complete bathroom gut-job remodel. The owners were pleasant to work with at the beginning and they got things rolling quickly. The options for materials in their showroom are extensive and we picked most of our materials from them. Only one particular statement tile that I wanted, I had to get from Lowe's instead. The prices of Pritchett's tile were a lot higher than what you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's. The installers were nice, but they didn't, however, cover my hardwood stairs, which have a custom-made runner, to protect them from the dirt and materials being hauled out and down the stairs (not to mention their work boots). They didn't speak English very well, so it was difficult to communicate clearly with them what I wanted and I didn't feel 100% assured that they understood. In terms of speed, I was impressed. The details and skill level, however, are where the misses happened. When they grouted, they not only grouted the wrong colors from what I chose, but they also didn't clean it off of the tile before it started to dry and cure. It ended up leaving grout haze that was incredibly hard to get off. I bought the materials to remove the grout haze myself and spent hours scrubbing it off. The lead installer, Luis, consistently made decisions without asking my preference, such as the location of the pedestal sink and the height of the vanity light fixture. There were several things that were poorly executed, such as a marble threshold that wasn't wide enough, so they installed a piece of quarter round to butt up against it. It looked awful so we went to Lowe's ourselves and bought a wider one to replace it (after Pritchett's told us they didn't make a wider one). The shower head was installed crooked and they couldn't seem to tell me which shower knobs would be compatible with our pipes, so I ended up ordering 2 sets that both did not fit. They had to sub it out to Colonial Plumbing, which took another week or so to get the right parts in. Sue, who oversaw the project, was unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable when she was in my house. She argued with me over several design details, contradicted me on what choices I had made and made unwelcome comments about my design aesthetic. She argued about the number of walls I wanted painted and then tried to charge me $300 to paint a 3'x8' wall. When I balked and offered to paint it myself, she conceded and agreed to finish the job at no additional cost. She tried to charge me an additional $100 for a 3 piece shower/tub faucet that I didn't need because we had our tub converted into a walk-in shower. She argued that they had to buy an extra kit to convert it from 3 piece to 2 piece, when the conversion was clearly part of the initial job proposal. I was incredulous that they were either incompetent or that they thought I was stupid enough to fall for them pulling the stunts they were trying to pull. She once again conceded and did not charge us for this "extra kit". This felt incredibly unprofessional and really just plain underhanded. She tried to act like she was going above and beyond when she was really just doing what she should have done to start with. She didn't "want to put a bad taste in my mouth" but the damage was already done and I sure did have a bad taste in my mouth with her. I didn't feel comfortable speaking with or dealing with her directly anymore, so I handed the communication off to my spouse. Every time she came to the house, I had a feeling of dread, like she was going to pull some new piece of BS out of her back pocket. When the job was "done", there was a very long punch list; some of which they fixed and some they didn't. What went from a 7-10 day estimated project for a less than 50 square foot bathroom, ended up being over a month-long project. The paint job was poor and sloppy, so I sanded and repainted it myself. They put caulk in places that were unnecessary, like on top of grout inside the shower. The caulk around the glass shower door and the wall was overkill and sloppy. There were gaps between the floor and the door frame, so they filled them with spackle which looked bad. I will end up staining the grout in the shower to the color that I originally chose, because the last thing I wanted was for them to have to rip it out and have to start all over again. It would have been double the nightmare. The cost of this small bathroom remodel was $13k, not including the fixtures and materials that we already purchased. Total it came to around $17k. I love my bathroom and the way it eventually turned out, but it nearly drove me to a nervous breakdown, simply because of how unnecessarily difficult they made it. I would not recommend Pritchett's to do any design remodel and will never hire them again. The only reason my bathroom is as beautiful as it is, is because of my vision, design and personal skills to fix what they couldn't. read more

Cannot recommend Pritchett's enough! Great price with a wide range of options for not only flooring, but every type of material needed for home improvement you can think of. Had my entire downstairs redone for a fraction of the price that other chains offered. Highest quality floors and even greater service - hands down the best experience I've had as a new homeowner. Installed luxury vinyl flooring through out entire home. Horrible installation!! Requested $2000 refund and got it!!! Used caulk throughout project that had to be removed and replaced with trim boards! Left my toilet sitting 2" higher than the floor and caulked it! Had to hire plumber to have toilet lowered to floor level!! No person on the job spoke English and could not communicate with installers! Please, please do not use this company for flooring! read more

We recently went in to see about ordering some flooring for our home and were so impressed by the folks at Pritchett's. They told us it was in stock and would install a portion of it before Christmas for us. When Sue got back to the office, she found out they in fact do not have it in stock, but they would install some carpet in the room where it was desperately needed. Once our flooring comes in, they will take the carpet out and put in all the new flooring. We also have a problem area where we had a leak. The company that installed that floor previously, said we would need to replace all the flooring and that it could not be repaired. Sue and Sam told us that it is repairable, and they would be able to do this for us. Sue and her dad, Sam, went above and beyond our expectations. It is very rare these days, that you find a company that will do anything and everything they can to make the customer happy. We would very highly recommend Pritchett's to everyone. read more
