I was super skeptical of this service before using it, although honestly I'm not sure why...having a random person come to your home to do your hair and makeup is basically the same as going to DryBar for a random hair stylist assignment or Blushington for a random makeup artist assignment. So, I decided to give beGlammed a try one morning when I needed my hair and makeup done early before work. Most salons don't even open early enough for that, plus there'd be all the extra time spent driving to the salon and then to where I needed to be for work. My beGlammed stylists were Shemeka Cockerm (hair) and Yvonne Marquez (makeup), both at the "Expert" level (as opposed to the $$$ "Elite" level). They were both INCREDIBLE. I mean, INCREDIBLE. Here's the scoop: HAIR: My hair is super fine and never holds a curl. I told Shemeka this when she arrived, to which she replied, "Oh, I'll get it to hold a curl." I don't know what the heck she did, but my hair held that curl from 7 am until I went to bed that evening around 11 pm!!! Also, the style was gorgeous and polished but not overdone -- perfect for what I needed. She did a great job of imitating the photo I showed her, but I think she actually one-upped the styling I had in that photo. Shemeka, you are a hair magician, and I never want anyone else to do my hair ever again. MAKEUP: I needed a natural look that would hold up under TV lights but not look over-glammed. Just natural. Yvonne worked some serious magic, to the point that MULTIPLE producers came up to me to RAVE about my makeup and how perfect it was for TV, and how they're always looking for people who can do makeup for TV that looks natural, and how that's so hard to find. I mean, seriously, it was almost embarrassing how much they were raving about my makeup. (And it DID look great on TV!) Yvonne, you are a treasure, and I never want anyone else to do my makeup ever again.
