I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about my experience, especially my experience with the owner Chris. From start to finish, the customer service was incredibly disappointing. After spending close to $10,000 on a new awning, I expected professional workmanship and accountability. Instead, the fabric was installed with visible bunching above valence. I had to fight tooth and nail to get this rectified - had to contact the corporate Sunesta office because Chris was pushing back about rectifying this. Than replacement fabric was ordered and was installed with stains, including blood, as well as dirt marks. When I pointed this out before the installers left, my concerns were brushed off. Rather than taking responsibility or offering to inspect or clean it, the owner Chris said it was probably from a berry or flower and essentially dismissed. Throughout the process, I felt like my concerns were minimized instead of taken seriously. Every issue I raised was met with excuses rather than solutions. There was never any ownership of mistakes or genuine effort to make things right. I left multiple conversations feeling like I was being told my concerns weren't valid instead of having them addressed professionally. In addition to the stains, the replacement fabric bunches and folds when closing, unlike the original awning, which operated smoothly. I was told the wrinkles would work themselves out, but the rippling and folding are noticeably different from how the original fabric functioned. Instead of acknowledging the possibility of an installation issue, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed. For the amount of money this project cost, I expected professionalism, quality control, and customer service. Instead, I experienced poor communication, dismissive treatment, and a complete lack of accountability. A reputable company should stand behind its work, not make customers feel like they're inconveniencing them for asking legitimate questions. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this company. If something goes wrong, don't expect accountability or a willingness to make it right. read more

My husband and I had an issue with getting charged $495 for the labor of 2 technicians to put in a new motor and remote on our fairly new awning without our authorization while we were at work. The awning is beautiful. It's perfect. The workers were great. But in 5 years of ownership I've had to have the motor replaced once (covered by warranty) and I've needed service calls to reprogram the remote every single year. You do the math. At $249 a service call, I've paid well over $1000 more for this awning. Folks, it's NOT that special. I expect the awning to work after winter. And if it doesn't, I expect the service call to be comped, because that is not a good awning. I get nowhere with the company. So the next awning will not be with them. read more

I understand ordering an awning at the beginning of the season can have delays, but don't tell me upfront when I will get the product, then make excuse after excuse & lie to me about the delay. repair of existing awning that was crooked on the roller caused by a heavy wind. also fear the motor was burned out! the repair men came and worked efficiently - realigned the awning fabric and reset the motor they also reset my remote and stayed on site to make sure I could be sure everything was functioning once again also the office personnel was lovely and truly cared that my awning would work again. read more

My first experience with Chris at Pro Exterior was a good one with a quick and easy quote for my retractable awning..all was agreed upon with price and timing of installation..the day came when his crew did the install and showed me how the remote worked..very good service.. All went well until about 3 weeks later noticed my credit card was overcharged..after calling and always getting an answering service to take any questions or concerns, I emailed Chris and the next day a correction was made to my card, only still to find a $124.00 overage..I emailed about this and received no reply.. Unfortunately a week later the remote stopped working, and after calling and finally getting through, received a call back from Chris who promised to bring a new remote within a week..well it's been 3 weeks and no remote or communication..thanks.. read more

His whole tone makes you bristle. I asked him to send someone out to see what was wrong and he told me it's probably the outlet. I told him the outlet was fine and he said - how do you know? Wtf. Really? He continued with crap like that for the rest of the conversation. Finally in late July - 4 months later - he sends someone out. Be careful doing business with this guy. He's nice while he's taking your money but doesn't want to hear from you after that. He's rude, condescending and a jerk. read more

Very professional, arrived on time for our first meeting and provided a quality price quote, plenty of samples to choose from. He worked with me to get the work accepted by my HOA. HIs team showed up at the designated time, installed quickly and professionally cleaning up after wards, showed me how to run it. They just did an overall outstanding job. I used Pro Exterior Awnings to add a retractable awning to my deck. I'm pleased with the installation however, I'm not pleased with the professionalism or I should say lack of professionalism in their salesmanship. I waited 5 months for a part that I paid for during the initial purchase. Had known this part was on back order due to a redesign I would had not purchased this equipment. I was never told that there was a backorder / redesign (which should of been disclosed during the sales meeting. He was very short on explaining the process and brushed over some important points. I was never instructed on how to use the equipment. My instructions over the phone was "It's very simple to use, just read the instructions" I would be very cautious in doing business with this company! 5 months and still waiting for my cover! read more
