We had previously gotten a bid for painting from another company that seemed very high, so we wanted to check our options. Eric came out to visit shortly after we connected and we discussed the project. He gave me some color ideas, and we worked with the local paint store to get a color wheel to narrow the colors down. We texted him with our top 5 colors and he brought out samples to paint on the house/garage to help us in our decision. Once we came to an agreement for the project, he came out and power washed, caulked, etc. toward the end of the week and his crew was on site early the next week to do the work. They did a great job prepping (there was no trace that they were even there when it was all done) and were extremely fast and efficient in getting the job done. The work was beautifully done, and our house looks like a million bucks. Don't be discouraged by the reviews on here...he does great work. It's hard to get a contractor to come and do ANYTHING in Portland it seems like, so communication might be slow as he's busy, but once you get on the schedule, he shows up, gets the work done, and cleans up after ward. Oh yea, his bid/cost was 50% less than the first bid we got from a different company. Top rating.

I can tell you there is no question I will use this company again. Not only is their work excellent, the owner Miguel is one of the best contractors I have ever worked with. Even the woman installing the wallpaper in our dining room, that used to be a pro painter, commented on what an excellent job they did (both painting and woodwork re-staining) and how humble they are. No shortcuts, on time, great communication, and Miguel is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.

I contracted Bobby to cover popcorn ceilings in two bedrooms and a small section in my living room…read morewith sheetrock and finish with texture. I also had him frame out and finish an attic entryway in the master bedroom that had popcorn and remove an old cable jack and phone outlet on the wall, patching those areas with drywall. I found his name mentioned on a Nextdoor post from a neighbor down the street from me. After accepting his bid, he was quick to call me to set up a time to sign the contract and to look over the job site. He was able to put me on the schedule within two days of my agreeing to hire him. He worked consecutively for three days. He completed the job on a Wednesday evening around 8:30pm. It was late and dark in the rooms, and I did a quick assessment with the flashlight on my phone. I pointed out a couple areas where I could still see the seams in the drywall, and he reassured me those wouldn't be noticeable once everything had dried. I paid him the remainder of the money and we parted ways. Next day afternoon, I was able to see the finished work in daylight with a better light source, and was not pleased with the work done. I was able to see almost all of the drywall seams. The corners in the attic entryway were not clean and smooth, and there were random marks and lines in the textured ceiling. Texturing was not done evenly. The texture was so thin in some areas that I could see the sheetrock and heavy in other spots where it was dripping down more than a ¼" and casting shadows. Texturing was also done with the attic door sitting in place. The door was sealed to the attic entry where heavy texture dried. I had rip that apart to push the attic door open. The corners in the living room area were not completely filled in nor smooth looking. I was very disappointed that someone who had 13 years experience would leave me with this quality. After a couple days of phone tag, we talked on Saturday. It was a heated conversation on both ends, but we resolved he would come back on Monday to fix any issues. However, during that conversation, he openly admitted to: 1. Rushing the job because it was late, he was tired and wanted to go home and go to bed. He finished on Wednesday, yet he gave himself until Friday in the contract to complete the job. 2. Having inadequate lighting to do the job. Even though the photos that he took of his completed work looked sufficient, after seeing the photos that i had taken during the daylight and with a better light source, showing my dissatisfaction, he realized that his work was not great and blamed that on not having enough light. He was aware that neither bedroom had any lighting going into the job, yet he chose to finish the work at 8:30pm with no daylight and only one light in the room. 3. Not having the correct nozzle for his texturing machine. A better nozzle was left on another jobsite, yet he still decided to use one that he had less control of to get the job done faster. He did use the use the word "nit-picky" when I was voicing my dissatisfaction. I feel that I have a right to be nit-picky about a job in which I'm spending a large chunk of money, putting my trust in him to do good work and wanting clean looking ceilings that I will be living with for the next 5-10+ years. Bobby came back on Monday. He couldn't give me a timeframe of when he would arrive and start work because it depended on how early his guys would get out of bed and get to the job site. In the end, the work looked much better. The seams in the second bedroom were still slightly noticeable, but I made the decision to call the job complete with the idea that adding primer and paint would hide it. Unfortunately, I can still see them after painting. I can say that I will not call him again nor recommend him to a friend.

He tries to be transparent and clear about design changes that are necessary due to realities of construction and his team definitely went above and beyond to try and make things work exactly like we wanted. We hired Bobby and his team to install a new catio/dog run for us. While I have experience building cat furniture, overhead storage in my garage, etc, and have no fear of any DIY work, this was to be installed on the front of my house and I wanted to make sure it was professionally made and attractive. I was impressed by how into the details Bobby was during the initial design/estimate process. He outlined the exact materials he'd use, which gave me confidence that he understood the full scope of what we were looking for. I created design pictures to make it clearer what we had in mind. He had me do the leg work of finding the exact materials I had in mind for the wire mesh & lattice sections, as well as purchase the door, dog door, and door hardware to ensure they used exactly what we wanted. The entire project included: 1) Adding a new exterior door at the end of a hallway to lead into the catio (this previously was a full wall with no door). 2) Building the catio/dog run structure itself. 3) Building a door frame and hanging a door (originally we wanted him to build the door too, but due to the keycode lock we wanted he decided mid-project that we would be better off buying a door for them to install instead) for leading from the catio/dog run into the yard. 4) Adding a roof to the top of the catio/dog run to allow the pets to enjoy the outside even when it's raining. 5) Covering the outside & uncovered sections of the structure with a combination of lattice (to obscure neighbors' view of any potential dog/cat poop) and wire mesh (for better view of the nearby bird feeders for the cats) and to prevent any of the pets escape. 6) (Contracted separately by us with a landscaper, since Bobby doesn't do this himself) - Prepare/level the ground and install artificial turf for the flooring. We had this done in two parts, the ground was prepped before Bobby started, and the turf was installed once the crew was done with the worst of the stomping around for building the structure so they didn't mess up the brand new turf. This was the first time I had hired a contractor for a project with this many parts to it, so it was a bit of a learning process of how things go. Here are some of our learnings I'll share to make things easier on both sides: 1) Realize that the estimate Bobby gives at the start will NOT be the final price. We had a bit of a surprise at the end when the total project cost rose about 5K more than the estimate. Some of these were unavoidable surprises, like realizing our wall framing was 2x6, not 2x4, which meant the door we had purchased needed to be rehung on an appropriately sized frame. Others were due to the fact that Bobby is a general contractor, not a specialist, and can't perfectly predict how much work a complicated, novel project will take. He has a business to run and needs to pay his crew fairly for their time, so taking extra layers of paint to finish a wall, needing to demo more than expected due to the intricacies of your siding, etc, will be considered changes on his side from the original estimate that you'll have to square up at the end. 2) Over explain expectations. Bobby and his team are great at making things work and problem solving anything they're aware of, but they're looking at things from a builder perspective. They know how to make things easier to build, but might not realize what consequences some of those design decisions have. In our case, we didn't explicitly mention that the catio needed to be completely enclosed, and Bobby didn't know that cats could climb up to the top of an enclosure. So when we pointed out mid project "Hey, how are you closing that gap between the roof section and the wall of the house?" it took some quick thinking on Bobby's part to resolve it. He ended up closing the gap with wire mesh which accomplished the job. 3) Make sure you understand the full design that Bobby is proposing. I was a little surprised when one of the support posts was in front of our bathroom window. It's only a single post, so it doesn't obstruct the view much, but if I were to go back in time to the start of the project I would have pointed out this in my original expectations better so Bobby could adjust the design accordingly. All told, the finished project is fantastic and solidly built! There are some very minor aesthetic flaws (they used too long of nails on the roof, so they're visible on the underside, and the paint he told me to pick up for finishing up the hall isn't a perfect match), and the catio door is having some minor alignment issues now that will be easily rectified, but overall I'm thrilled with the results! So this review isn't about the finish product, it's more about the estimate experience! During the estimate process, Robert has been excellent from the initial estimate to following up with emails. We had a few companies either didn't bother to follow up with emails/texts, or simply disappear after the initial estimates. Robert was always available for questions and I really appreciate that! Overall, I'd recommend Arrowhead if you are looking for estimate or paint project because of their reliability and responsiveness!

Overall, happy but things could have gone smoother…read more Once they got to our job, a month and 1/2 later than we were quoted we were happy with the quality of the work but left feeling like we were over promised and under delivered. We didn't go with the cheapest quote or even the fastest turnaround, but we waited a long time and had to reschedule several things for our house because of the time delay. Including gutters being installed and getting the house photographed to sell. A lot of time was spent on our part contacting other contractors and our real estate agent because of the delay. The sales experience was good and smooth via a Zoom call due to covid. The paint consulting was also pleasant and professional. Overall we are happy and enjoyed working with Robert, but we definitely felt like we were being moved back further and further due to other jobs taking priority over ours. I would hire them again, but would be sure to have an accurate representation of when the job would actually be completed in writing.

First the good - The main painter on the job (Lucio) was a conscientious and hard worker. He…read moreclearly cared about his work and did a good job. (Thank you Lucio). The main problem - Our house has cedar shingles. The rear of the house is painted, the front is stained - and we wanted to keep the staining at the front. We pointed out to their estimator that some of the stained shingles has caulking marks on them - he told us the stain would cover the marks. He was wrong, but we didn't find that out until they'd finished painting the rear of the house. The team did their best to cover the caulking marks with touch up marker - they look ok from the street, but are very obvious close-up. Had the estimator told us that the stain wouldn't cover these marks, we would have had the whole house painted a single color - but in a different color than we chose for just the rear. There were also some smaller problems - - The quote stated that a porta-potty would be provided - it wasn't. Presumably the quoted price included this. - The quote stated that plants would be covered to protect from spraying - the rhododendron bushes in front of my house now have paint-spattered leaves, and look like they might not survive. - Some of the painters who helped out for just small part of the job weren't very careful - two of my path lights were broken (which they tried to hide by balancing the broken lights on their stands), and someone ripped most of the branches off one rhododendron bush instead of tying them back. - A petrol stain was left on our front path where they refueled their pressure washer. I pointed out these issues to the project manager. I'm very disappointed that no-one from the iTech office has contacted me to apologize, and I can only assume that they don't really care. Therefore I would not recommend them.
