Wife and I decided to do something outdoors on the first full day of summer this year. Earlier in the week we made reservations to rent some Kayaks from Pro Sup Shop. It was super easy to do online, so on Saturday morning, all we had to do was get there. We arrived in MDR 15 to 20 minutes before our appointment. Lot 10, which is public pay lot, was literally right next to the shop, so that was super convenient! Check in was super easy and every point of contact we had with staff was excellent. You can tell they know their business and they are happy to give pointers or help out with whatever you need. We're thinking about bringing our nephew next time we come back. and we will definitely be back. Great business! read more

The whole staff is so friendly and helpful, and (what some people may not know) they can arrange a session for large groups! girlgroup LA did a Sunset Paddle with around 30 of us, and we had the best time! Oh man, this place is awesome! If you have a free day in LA, and you want to do something aquatic, this is the spot. I've never kayaked here before, let alone kayaked alone *anywhere*, so I was a little unsure what to do, how to do, and where to go. I braved the unknown, yelped this spot, parked at the nearby parking lot ($10.00, daily). It's simple, just rent a kayak for 90 minutes (I think it was $45.00? I'll attach the photo). Leave your shoes (and anything you might be worried about losing in the water). And get out there. Super simple and the dudes working there were super nice, too. Just remember the sunscreen (face and legs), and it's helpful to have a hat and maybe longsleeve if you're sun sensitive. Beyond that, you can go out to the jetty (not beyond), and don't forget you have to paddle back once you reach your destination (so tiring). Overall, great place and I'd recommend for group or solo kayaking. Just watch out for the sting rays! read more

I've becoming to this establishment for the past four years... the staff are always friendly and caring! They will provide you with life jackets and life jackets for your pup (extra $5). They will show you how to paddle board/kayak before going into the water. I took my 4 pups to paddle board and they were so helpful and greeted my pups with so much love!! They were super patient with helping me put on life jackets on all my pups! They even looked for an even smaller life jacket for my smaller puppies. Here's what you need to know. We went with a group of friends for the halloween night paddle excursion around the marina. When I got there it was way colder than I thought it would be. The owner's mom (who is super cool) lend me the perfect jacket so I wouldn't be cold. When we got back from the adventure there was a chef! waiting for us with all sorts of wonderful food and treats. I was looking to get a good upper body workout and got exactly that. The day I went, the winds were very strong and the waves were somewhat choppy. By the time I finished, my arms and back were beat. The SUP shop trailer is fairly easy to spot from the street, so it isn't too hard to find. Parking lots are available near the trailer and street parking was pretty easy as well, if you don't mind the walk. Walk in's are welcome but I strongly suggest making reservations online when going on holidays or weekends. Everyone at the shop was very friendly and super helpful. Ryan and his coworker were kind enough to share some sunscreen with us, and they even have a nice shoe/sandal rack so that you don't have to leave them on the beach. For the beginners in our group, they gave everyone a quick tutorial to get things going, and even helped bring the boards out into the water for those who had trouble. Their equipment was overall well maintained and other than the loose rubber on my paddle board, I had no issues. The kayaks even looked like they had back rests! Rentals run about $30 an hour. Joy was super sweet in helping me locate the place and make arrangements the following day. She called back just to make sure we were helped and all our questions had been answered. How darling right? Originally when I started going in July 2020, the price was $45 and they'd ask if you you would want to leave a tip. Then they suddenly up-charged it to $50 and don't ask for a tip now. Hmm smart... For 2 hours it's that price, whether you rent the paddle boards or a single person kayak. I've done both and been a few times. I've also gone with "first-timers", it's super easy going since there's really not much of a current in that inlet and marina area. Took a star off for the fact that I came back and the staff who offered a "bag drop" area for customers had actually gotten water all over everyone's bags. Unfortunately the lack of pure common sense to pick up customers bags and simply move them to a dry area was their undoing. Overall, easy place to rent. I also would suggest along the walk way where the water is, there are ladies who do the same rentals and are very reputable. read more

They now take reservations for weekends, and it didn't seem like there was a wait even without reservations! Located at Marina Beach and their shop is set up right next to the shore. Their paddle boards and canoes are already laying in rows on the beach front ready to go. I think this place earns top nods because of the easiness of the rental process and the low cost of their rentals. It only cost $25 for the first hour to paddle board and if you choose to add another hour on the second hour is only $20 additional. The customer service is extremely on point and uber friendly to all that walk up to the stand. I don't give 5 STARS on a 1st go but I had to today because of the above and beyond outstanding customer support by Jenn & Abel! A busy Sunday started w/ multiple phone calls to get an idea if they could squeeze my wife and I in on a tandem kayak. All was reserved but we went down to see if an opening could happen which it did. We were targeting 10-11am and waited aout 30 min. and Abel got us a boat and off we went at 11:20. We paddled to the shore break and back in 1:40 min hitting the shore at 1pm. We also received 2 complimentary coupons for our next return due to the wait time for a boat, but keep in mind we did not have a reservation and this wkd is the last for wkd resv's, so we were pleasntly surprised by this getsture. Abel explaied this shop is worldwide and have been in businesses for years and it shows. There are some shady MDR operators from my Yelp search so start here and you won't be sorry. $40 per hour and you only pay for what you use. 1.5 hrs = $60 we just got charged $40 cuz Abel is the man and wanted us to have a great 1st experience....which we did and of course we'll be back! I am so glad that I brought my boyfriend to Marina Del Rey to go Paddle Boarding. I found this location through Groupon and was so pleased with the entire process. We parked in lot #9 and paid hourly. It's 25cents for every ten minutes or $10 for the whole day. We hung out at the beach for a total of about 3 hours. The restrooms were open so went there first before checking in for our paddle boarding reservation. I called ahead to get a reservation which is what the Groupon suggests. We picked 12pm. We had to sign a waiver when we arrived which was perfectly fine. They let us leave our shoes and bags under the table. The sand was incredibly hot though so I wouldn't recommend leaving your shoes up at the check in stand. We were fit for a paddle and then sent down to the beach. All of the staff wore wearing a mask and were very helpful while keeping a distance. We used up our full hour and truly enjoyed the experience. We did not venture out of the area closest to the sand as the wind made it hard to go far. We saw so many sting rays in the water which was fun. This is a really good activity you can do that keeps you away from others. Thank you to the staff for such an enjoyable day! read more

I brought my cousin here earlier in the week and we rented two paddle boards for an hour. The staff was very friendly and informative. For example, the gentleman that helped us let us know the wind would be working against us on our way back so to plan accordingly. Without this tip, we might not have saved enough energy to make it back to shore lol! He also gave us a few tips on how to stay centered, how to use the paddle and helped us put the boards into the water even though we didn't pay for a lesson. And, they watch your bags and shoes while you're in the water and have a place to spray your feet when you're done. All in all, I would highly recommend. read more

This 5 star review is a unique one. I had originally made a reservation for a party of 8 this past week, but Pro Sup had mistakenly forgotten to block off that day as it was already fully booked for a senior graduating class. We were almost at the site for the day of when we got a phone call from Joy at Pro Sup saying there were no kayaks available. Understandably, we were worried, frustrated, and distraught. However, Joy and the other employees made up for all our anxiety. This cancellation would have destroyed our entire day's plan, but Pro Sup was VERY accommodating by finding us a reservation at a different place, refunding our payment, and even offering to pay for the difference between Pro Sup and the alternative kayaking place. They assured us that although we would not be able to kayak at Pro Sup Shop due to a mistake on their behalf, they would not rest until we did find other accommodations. Mistakes happens, and that's okay. However, the responsibility that Joy and the other workers showed in fixing their mistakes truly demonstrates their commitment to their customers. Not only did they unconditionally apologized for her error, but more importantly they made it their priority to fix such their mistakes in a way that left both party satisfied. As I often say, "a rejection is a redirection." Although I wasn't able to experience their customer service kayaking in person, this experience far exceeds any customer relations I've ever had. Absolute worst service ever... my daughter went out and after an hour we began to get worried... they offered to send an employee out to make sure the girls were ok... this employee walked out to the water, walked around the beach and came back and told us "there are people coming in so you guys can wait about 20 mins" I told her that I am not waiting 20 minutes to see if she comes back and she proceeded to tell me that my daughter "signed a waiver" so technically they are not responsible... I told her that if she didn't want to go out there then I would .. apparently my unwillingness to comply with her passive attitude was offensive to her because she then began to tell me I don't need to get upset with her and that she didn't need my frustration... I explained to this fragile child that this isn't about her... it's about my daughter and if she doesn't want to go, that's fine, I'll go... she then just walked away... all the while, I did not raise my voice once... she then proceeded to call me "aggressive"... as a black woman expressing my sincere concern for my child, the worst thing you can do is call me aggressive... aggressive would have had this buttercup face down in the sand. Needless to say, my daughter made it back safely but this young woman's complete disregard for my concern and her offensive behavior made it so that I would never use this business again. People that work here are awesome. Rented a two person kayak with my three-year-old son and was not sure how he would like it. They charge me for an hour but said if you want to stay longer, we can settle up when you get back.
