Had unusual issue with my travel trailer, helped fix the issue quickly and made it look good to boot.

I was having my tires rotated at a major chain (not Professional Muffler) and had them check my brakes because they were squeaking and was told that I need 4 new Rotors for $663.00. I called Professional Muffler, as I had work done there before and was quoted less than half of the cost as the major chain for all 4 rotors and to just bring it right over to them when I was done. When I got there and they checked my rotors they said that I only needed the front rotors replaced, the back rotors were fine and that my bill would $166.00. I couldn't believe it. I have used them before with no issues. However, now having problems after 2K of work. I originally had them rated much higher. They first replaced an exhaust manifold, then hours later had to take it back to replace catalytic converter after an error code came up. Weeks later it was still loud, making noises when backing out and getting worse. Took it back in and they stated the new exhaust manifold had cracked and it was due to a bad motor mount. While the manifold was covered by warranty, more money for motor mount. The car remains way louder than the original. I left a message regarding this but no response. Next stop will be bringing it to a dealership to have them check the work that was done and to find why it continues to sound loud and making noise when backing out of garage. read more

Awesome business- awesome people. We have had multiple vehicles served at Professional Muffler in Marion and regardless of which vehicle or its issue- and regardless of the service person who worked on the vehicle- we received fair pricing and diligent and timely service. This is a great company. It seems like anymore poor service is too often a theme, but we have not encountered issues at all with this company. I can't be more sincere as I write this. Professional muffler- every single staff member- ( I'm sure we've worked with them all) is very skilled, experienced, and they all just really go out of their way to help. Recently, a family member of mine was in another state with one of our vehicles and was having trouble getting the vehicle started, despite having a fairly new battery. He talked with a Professional Muffler team member who guided him over the phone. Based on the service man's advice, our family member was able to get the vehicle started and drive home. I'm travelling through and am only here in Cedar Rapids for a couple days, but Professional Muffler was able to get me in the next day to take a look at a vibration that is developing in my car, possibly something suspension-related. Unfortunately, since the vibration is intermittent and wasn't occurring at the time, they were unable to find anything wrong with it. They did inspect the car and found nothing amiss, which is reassuring enough for the rest of the roadtrip, at least. But here's the best part. They didn't charge anything for looking! That's great on its own, but wait, there's more! I forgot to even mention to anybody at the shop that my father lives here in Cedar Rapids and takes his car to Professional Muffler and referred me to them. In other words, they didn't know I'm a referral from a regular customer, yet they still treated me extremely fairly and even accommodated my inability to pick up the car before they closed. They're good to do mufflers but nothing else I took the car and they made a mess out of it and never drove the same again they did some suspension work and they charged Me for alignment that they never did $120 be careful I had to pay someone else $300 to fix the mess read more

I endorse Professional Muffler on Collins Rd. with confidence. They fixed my car's problems for less than $200 (whereas I had just been quoted up to $1000 at Midas Muffler). All of the issues were related to one singular problem, not the supposed "bucket list of things" I heard about at Midas. I also verified online that I got a very fair price for the work. They discussed the estimate with me, and looked confused when I asked about all of the other so-called issues I thought had to be fixed. They actually explained the problem and showed me where it was, as well as a potential future issue which was obvious to the naked eye. They emphasized that it wasn't urgent, especially if it's not in my budget. On a side note, while I was there, one of the employees took time out of his work day to help out a confused young man who wandered into the shop and needed helping calling a taxi. I also think it's worth sharing that they have a vintage soda vending machine in the lobby, and they actually use it. read more

We've just moved to Cedar Rapids and my husband's gigantic muffler came off on his Toyota truck. I always hated this muffler because it is so loud that when we first moved into our neighbhorhood the neighbors all came out staring at us. So embarassing! They must have thought the muffler sound was a tornado warning. He was able to piece it together with a coat hanger but he really needed a good mechanic for repairs. He chose this place on the fly since it was off Collins Rd and across from Lindale Mall. He had the mechanic look at the muffler and was told it could be redone and replaced for less than $200 and there would be no more irritatingly loud muffler noise! Yay! We made an appointment for the next day because we went in after work and it was late. It was done in less than 2 hours. I went to pay for it and was nervous because I am a woman and know nothing about cars or anything else that requires mechanical skills. I thought they would jack up the price for other misc. stuff but they did not. They treated me with respect and didn't jack me around at all. I really appreciate it. I paid exactly the same price that was first quoted to us. I rarely give 5 stars because it is almost impossible to reach perfection, but they did an absolutely great job, were honest, and respectful. And the best thing is . . . no more loud muffler noises. read more

This is a follow up review. I ended up having to replace my front axle on my 1994 Landcruiser. There are only a few sources on the web to buy this assembly. I found one, negotiated a price and then approached Cody at Professional Muffler. Because this is an unusual repair, Cody couldn't find a flat rate labor estimate for the job so he and I negotiated a "time and materials" installation with a max of 8 hrs labor at which point he was to call me and let me know. We had the axle shipped in from NH and I had him order in shocks all around. He completed the job in under 8 hours even with him taking time to pull the best parts from each assembly to build me the best "Frankenstein" front end out of the two sets of parts. I'm out the door with a new front end and shocks all around for way under $1 kilobuck. Once again a very satisfied customer. These guys are really great. Hardy recommendation. read more

I generally do my own work, and tried to fix the broken exhaust stud this time too. It was putting up a fight for me and I knew I wasn't going to have it fixed in time for when I needed the vehicle. One of my friends previously expressed his satisfaction for Professional Muffler (unsolicited) so I decided to give them a try. They were able to schedule me in quickly and kept me informed of their progress daily. They explained three scenarios that could occur and gave me the estimates for each, to which I told them to do whatever needed to be done. The final bill was toward the lower end of the estimates and the quality of the work was great (yeah, I did inspect it afterwards). They didn't even give me a hard time for trying the repair myself first! read more

I had a power steering leak, was told I needed a new rack and pinion. Got the work (plus other items done) Spent around $600 for just that portion. Now nine months later the same problem starts up again and I am told the rack on my car is basically a POS. Not a happy customer. read more

I've been going to Professional Muffler for brake, exhaust/muffler and suspension work since I got my drivers license (over 20 years). My Dad went to them as far back as I can remember. Why? Because these guys do excellent work. They're friendly, go out of their way to make sure that you're a satisfied customer, and stand behind their work. They've even been known to do small things (like a quick weld repair on an exhaust pipe) at no charge. If your car is making a funny noise that you can't describe, they'll ride with you until they can hear it themselves. If they're fully booked, but you're really in a bind and need the work done, somehow they always find a way to fit me in. They also give you good information on things that may need attention and about how long you can go on it as-is. My wife went in there because the brakes were squealing a little and they could tell that the tires needed rotating, so they offered to do that while they were putting them back on. They give lifetime warranty on mufflers and brake pads (brake pads...they're consumable...who else does that?). I can't say enough about how great it is to work with Professional Muffler.
