Our Pup has only gone to the same place and we were nervous to use a new place. You cannot find a better place. It's a Father & Son operation. When I dropped the the little lady off while I was talking to the father the son had my pup in his hands hugging & kissing her. It was BY FAR the best hair cut she ever got. When I went to pick her up and they handed her off and I put her down she ran back to the father and son and didn't want to leave. (And I'm the best to her). It was great to see. So like others who have previously left reviews, I sadly have to update (and lower) my previously 5-star rating as well. The owner was great with my dog and groomed him beautifully; that was never an issue. However, he doesn't manage his time/appointments very well, but then literally extends no courtesy towards his paying customers if they are a few minutes late, despite having a late policy. Case in point: There was a day where my dog had a morning appointment on a Saturday. Usually they call when he's all done, but that day I got a bit nervous when it was 5pm and I still hadn't heard from them. I called the shop multiple times, and no one answered. Eventually I got so worried that I drove the 20 minutes to check in on how things were going. When I arrived, my dog hadn't even been bathed yet. It had been HOURS since I had dropped him off. I'm sorry, but if you weren't going to get to my dog until after 5pm, why on Earth did you have me drop him off at 11am? For him to sit in a cage all day when he could have been home relaxing with us? Super annoying. I ended up waiting in my car out front until he was finished. Mind you, there was no apology, no discount, no nothing. Fast forward to the next appointment (yes, we went back, because the haircuts were just that good!). My fiancé had to drop our dog off because I was working. The groomer had called him the day prior and confirmed our dog's 6pm appointment. My fiancé confirmed he would be there. The day of the appointment, my fiancé called me because he couldn't find the groomer. Turns out his GPS had read the I in the address as a 1, which put him clear across town. He tried calling the shop to let them know (he was not late yet at that point) and no one answered. He left a message and then made his way over. When he arrived, the shop was closed. He called and called; no one answered, and it was obvious they had left for the night. He was only 15 minutes late, if that. Meanwhile, they have a policy that states if you're late, they will charge you extra, which we would have been willing to do considering my fiancé's mistake. But no, they didn't bother waiting, they didn't bother calling, they just left. And we suspect they hadn't even stayed until the appointment time considering they never answered the phone the first time my fiancé called. I received a return call the next day and was basically told my fiancé was a liar. That was the straw the broke the camels back. I had the timestamps on my cell phone from when my fiancé was calling me, trying to find the shop. I know what time he was there. Up until that point, I had considered groveling a bit so we could still continue to take our dog there, but after accusing my fiancé of lying, I was DONE. Honestly, they treat their animal clients like gold, but their human clients like crap. Several times at previous appointments the owner was bad mouthing other clients, acting as if no one who brings their dog to him knows how to take care of their own dog. He is snarky and two-faced and doesn't care about having any kind of good customer service. So my advice is if you have the patience of a saint and can put up with this kind of nonsense, then by all means, take advantage of the great grooming they offer. But if you have any kind of backbone, maybe just save yourself the stress. read more

I'm of two minds about this groomer. I'll readily admit that he does a good job with the actual grooming. Our spaniel mix always came out looking clean, well trimmed and adorable. But we've stopped going because the downsides came to outweigh the high-quality results. The owner does not hesitate to scold paying customers, which is not appropriate. A couple years ago, I brought our dog for her grooming, and I casually mentioned that, the last time she had been groomed, her "beard" was removed. The owner told me, "I would never do that." I said, "Yes, we had someone else groom her, but he didn't do a great job. So, we wanted to come back to the pros." I said the last bit with a smile and a chuckle, not even thinking about it. I actually thought I was complimenting his shop! He was visibly annoyed. He said, "Usually, I don't take customers back when they choose to go somewhere else." I was stunned, but my smiling expression didn't change. Was he joking with me? No...no, he wasn't. "I do this with love and caring," he said. "If she goes to a groomer that doesn't know what he's doing, I have to re-teach her. She could get aggressive or nip." He was basically laying a guilt trip on me--a paying customer. He almost expected an apology, it seemed, so I gave him a half-hearted one. But I was put off by the whole interaction. Again, it was just inappropriate. If I go to McDonald's, I don't owe Burger King an apology. The owner should be appreciative of our business, rather than giving a scolding for having used another groomer one time. Now, our spaniel mix uses another groomer EVERY time. read more

Absolutely, positively the best groomer I've ever taken my dogs to! Over the last 5 years, I have searched high and low for a groomer like Richard. He was absolutely incredible! He was extremely knowledgeable about safety, the type of cut that would look great on my dogs, as well as how to keep them happy. After other groomers my dogs use to come home and be visibly uncomfortable. After Richard, they both were running around on top of the world. Our English Bulldog has every issue bulldogs are known for. Jumping from one groomer to the next, even tried a vet, we couldn't find anybody our bully was comfortable with... until we met Richard! We brought our bully in because her nails were so long that it was hurting her to walk. When we tried other groomers, she would pull her paws away (at one visit caused her nails to bleed) and developed some sort of fear when people touched her paws. We began to lose hope. I don't know how Richard did it, but he has put our bully's fears at ease! When we got home to pet her paws, she had no issues. Not only was she well groomed (even her ears were cleaner than when the vet did it), she can now enjoy her walks again. The price was very reasonable for the services. Let me start by saying that Richard is SO NICE. I really like the guy. He's a great person. But I have to be honest - I have no clue how this place has so many great reviews. I've been here 3 or 4 times, so I've definitely given it a fair chance. I've always made appointments for the morning right when he opens because I like dropping my dog off bright and early, running errands and then picking her back up again. But every single time I've been to this place, Richard didn't show up to open the place!! And I don't mean he was 15 minutes late. I WAITED OVER AN HOUR one time. The other times I waited about 45 minutes. Worst part? No apology, no discount, nothing. Also - I have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Scarlett. She has a bushy tail and long ears if they're not cut. Every time I ask him to give her tail and ears a trim. Every time he doesn't do it. So then I have to go home and do it myself. All in all, I'm not going here anymore. I find it incredibly unprofessional to make me wait SO many times for SO long and not even give me a discount or anything (let alone apologize!). read more

He cut him EXACTLY how we wanted him. We couldn't ask for more! Thanks Richard!!! First review: Richard worked with our puppy today for 8-9 hours (yes, you read that right) on his first grooming. He's a petite, designer, teddy-bear--golden-doodle and isn't the easiest of conquests (as far as grooming goes). He was matted and beyond our ability to even brush through, much as we tried. We had, in our mind, what we wanted him to look like afterwards. We even brought Richard pictures of similar first-cuts from pups from our breeder. Our dog looked nothing like what we wanted. However..... Let me tell you what we did get. Our pup (8-9 months) with a ridiculously curly/wavy puppy/adult fur-matted/mess coming in got the full attention of Richard, undivided, for a FULL DAY, where he was patiently dealt with in stages as he was able, and came out sleek, fresh, De-matted and cute. Richard explained thoroughly to my husband that after this time we could grow his fur to a longer length. This first time had to be shorter. I felt the time, patience, concern, and care he took taking care of our pup was considerable and his cut was stylish, despite being shorter then what we imagined. I am bringing back my pup in 7-9 weeks again (already made the appt) and would recommend him highly. read more
