Back on Track- Pool Basics: The pool area itself is not handicap accessible so go elsewhere if you can't use stairs. The only entries into the pool are a chair lift and ladders. The pool itself can feel pretty crowded because there are swim lessons and lap swimming happening in the somewhat small pool at the same time. PT Staff: My staff member was late every single time he met with me and he stopped right on time. The staff aren't hands on like Spaulding. They don't get into the pool with you, but instead sit in a chair on the edge of the pool typing notes about you while you're exercising. Awkward. After I went to Spaulding I realized my PT at Back on Track was having me do exercises that weren't right for where I was at. When I got hurt from our third session but I thought it was me, not him. It was him. Facility: The Wellbridge health club is an expensive one, so they do have pretty nice locker rooms and a lot of convenient extras like robes, shampoo etc., tea, mouthwash, hair spray, and hair dryers. The PT room itself is a tiny room with two therapy tables. They have curtains, but it was pretty awkward being evaluated 5 feet from someone else getting treatment. Like I said before, Back On Track Cambridge is really a better fit for someone with a minor injury who is pretty high functioning. I would really recommend anyone who is elderly, deals with chronic pain, or just wants more skilled therapy to go to the Spaulding Charlestown for PT. It is more hands on, the pool is warmer, and it's completely accessible. If you work in Harvard Square and just need something basic that's convenient, try it out here.

I had wanted to do a gait analysis and looked at private companies, which charge a few hundred dollars for this (and likely then try to sell you on a gym membership, which I didn't want/need). Instead, I did maybe 10 or 12 sessions at Outback, and we first looked at what was causing my foot issues: tight and weak hips, tight calves and poor ankle stability, and I got functional exercises (mostly with a resistance band) to work on those. Toward the end of my treatment, my therapist did record me running on a treadmill at the office in slow motion (on my phone so I could keep the videos) and broke down a few mechanics I could be mindful of. It's been about 18 months since i wrapped up there, and I could be better about continuing the exercises, but I know I can always go back to them if my foot starts to flare up. I super appreciated the holistic approach to my care, and also how we could modify, change, or discard exercises that I was having trouble with or not seeing benefits from. A steal to do this for my insurance copay each time!

Aquatic PT - Broken water heater in pool (no warning), dangerous for patients…read more I'd like to say that I have had a great experience at the Boston Sports Medicine location in Davis Square. This review is only for the aquatic PT/Kristen, at the Allston location. I made an appointment for aquatic PT this December. Since it takes me an hour to travel to Allston, I booked a few weeks in advance to get an appointment after work hours. I wasn't told at any time in advance that the pool water heater does not work properly. (Approximately 90 degrees is standard for aquatic PT and the BSM Allston website says that the pool is always kept at 88-90 degrees.) Even directly before I got in the water, Kristen emphasized that the pool was heated. It was clear when I got in the water that it was below room temperature; I would estimate 60 degrees. Seconds later, after I got in the water and commented on the cold temperature, Kristen said that the pool doesn't heat fully in winter and other patients regularly bring long sleeved shirts to wear in the pool. Kristen told me the heat was set to 92. She said she turned it up at my request, but the water remained extremely cold. I wish I had been told about this issue when making the appointment as I would never have come in to begin with. The next day I woke up with very painful muscle spasms that have not alleviated days later. I made calls to other physical therapists the next day, but I will now have to wait over a month to get an aquatic PT appointment elsewhere. The PT said she had other aquatic therapy patients who have the same muscular concern I came in for, so I thought it would be safe to stay in the pool despite the discomfort. I told her how cold it was and my concerns of potential muscle spasms, and I was shivering intensely and she didn't seem to care. She didn't check how cold the water felt at any point, or express any compassion. I'm so upset by how I was treated. I am struggling greatly with the resulting spasms, which would have been entirely preventable if BSM Allston had been honest and straightforward about their facilities. They absolutely should not be offering aquatic PT under these conditions, let alone without telling patients until they're in the pool.

She doesn't rush me, but doesn't let me slack either. You can tell she's knowledgeable. I feel very confident being treated by her. This is the only place around here with Aquatic therapy (1 person pool with treadmill). Last place I went to was in Waltham in a shared pool, where the kids are jumping over you. I certainly appreciate this aquatic therapy in a private setting. If you are in need of PT, certainly give this place a try! Ask for Aisling or any of the wonderful staff, I have also worked with Caylie (spelling?) Who's also awesome. They have plenty of free parking as well.

I saw Dr. Kayla Serowik and Dr. Christine Frechette for physical therapy, and both of them were amazing. Not only did they show me the exercise to treat my issues, they also helped educate me on what I could do to prevent future injuries. On top of that, they were both incredibly patient and encouraging - therapeutic on multiple levels! I also get sports massages from Michelle Herrmann, and this has been a game changer. I have gone to a wide variety of skilled massage therapists (sports, deep tissue, Thai, etc.), and Michelle is the best, by far. Her massages are so healing and have helped my performance so much, as well as stave off potential injuries! Before going to Wellness in Motion, I really struggled to progress in any sport because I got injured so often. Now, with the amazing combination of physical therapy and sports massages, my body is healthier and stronger than it has been in over 20 years! Incredibly grateful for this place. Several of my friends have gone here as well, all with similar experiences. Most of them have gone to see Lauren Lozier, who is also amazing!

Dr. Glenn was really attentive, and the first person/provider, outside of my surgeon, who actually has knowledge of my particular medical ailments. It's so refreshing to meet with someone that has an understanding, especially since my medical conditions are so rare. My recovery has been frustrating, with a few post-op complications, so I was looking for alternative treatments. Dr. Glenn performed ART at this session, which he believes I can really benefit from. I have my follow up scheduled next week! I live about an hour away, but worth the drive! I do recommend leaving more time than you think you need for parking, as I had to loop around twice for a spot (and was a few minutes late, but they were so understanding - thank you!!). She has a chronic problem, so there is no easy fix, but they took the time to really assess the problem and provided exercise to help. Lo and behold, I found myself in need of PT when the practice at my HMO was filled. I asked if I could go to this practice instead, and I am glad I did. They really take the time to understand the "why" of your problem. I appreciate that they do that and not just throw exercises at you. I am very pleased with my therapist, Connor, and already believe I am seeing progress after two weeks.

Now I hear, despite all my best efforts, that I'm not making progress and PT is a waste of my time. This was very devastating news. I was trying to balance PT with recommendations from other health care providers, and it was confusing when the recommendations conflicted, especially about what I should be eating. I feel like there still could be meaningful ways to engage in PT, but now I feel like I'm defective, and it's me as the person who's the waste of time. I thought things were going okay, but the way it ended, especially so abruptly, was extremely upsetting. I'll heal on my own or find someone who can work around my other challenges.
