Changed My Life - Even Though I Didn't "Need" PT…read more I came in because my husband told me my posture was bad. Standing up I looked fine but walking I hunched over. And going down stairs I had to clutch the railing and felt very unstable. I couldn't keep up with my husband and wondered if something was wrong with my heart or breathing. Joanna examined my walking and noticed that when I walked, I didn't use either my toes or heels. At all. She provided a massagelike PT and gave me exercises, some that I do there and some I do at home. Also, I relearned--literally--how to walk and how to go down stairs using my whole foot and now can walk as fast as my husband and son and am so much more comfortable on stairs. I'd had serious bunion surgery previously but still had hammertoes. My toes are now straight and long and am considering a fancy pedicure to celebrate! I wasn't an invalid before -- had just gotten back from a trip to Spain where I walked 16,000 to 20,000 steps a day. Often on cobblestone. But I often had to ask my husband to slow down (he's a runner and fast NYC-born walker). But now I am now eager to walk, sometimes inching past my husband and my chubby calves have even changed shape, thinning my ankles as a muscle in the front of my calf strengthened. I am grateful my husband was honest about my "hunch" -- this is a major life Improvement! Mindfully walking, placing the toe and mid foot and heel has also given me an easy mindfulness practice that is calming and energizing at the same time. I am profoundly grateful. Ruth Kaplan and the staff have worked with all of my family at different times and have always made a difference. It's a fun environment with cheery pop music from various decades (not cheesy Muzak) and all ages, from 1 to 90+.

I have tried three physical therapy places in this area over the 10 years we have lived here, and…read moreProgression Physical Therapy is by far the best. My most recent injury is a shattered ankle, and Ruth, Joanna and the whole team got me back to normal in record time. They use a very hands-on approach, spending time working on your injury rather than relying on expensive, fancy machines that they can bill extra for using. I have been so pleased with my treatment that I have continued to work out in their gym through the graduate program, to continue strengthening and have their advice as needed so I don't get injured again. I love Progression PT!

While I agree with other reviewers that Connie is an excellent PT and the staff is friendly,…read moreoverall my experience with Ivy was negative. I went in for PT for a specific problem, yet was given exercises for other problems and NOT for the problem for which I went to Ivy. I was clear that I was only there to address the one problem for which I had a referral from my doctor and did not want to address the other problems at Ivy, as I was dealing with them with another PT that I see. I asked about treatment for my one problem repeatedly, but it was not addressed. It felt very much like a private equity owned enterprise (I later learned that it is owned by private equity), as they focused on putting in a billing code that my insurance would pay for rather than treating my actual problem. They encouraged me to come 3x/week, even though my problem is not acute and I had exercises to do at home, so once/week should have sufficed and been a better use of my prescription. Also, I actually read their privacy policy - which I had to agree to in order to have my visit - and it literally gives permission for them to share my personal information with companies that are looking for organ and tissue donors! What does this have to do with PT? Is it just another way to monetize me? I asked to have it printed out so that I could cross out that item before agreeing, but this was not possible. If you have a problem that has a billing code and you don't mind that they are probably monetizing your personal information in macabre ways, you will be in good hands with Connie.

She spends time getting to know you and offers functional, doable exercises for you to do at home too. I have had a fabulous experience and can't recommend her enough! I began seeing Ilene Watrous in early September 2022. I have chronic neck and upper back pain…read morecaused by repetitive motion from working at a computer. Under stress, this pain has escalated into debilitating migraines. Historically I have received both physical and chiropractic therapy for this condition and both seemed to exacerbate the condition. I have also received cranial sacral therapy in the past and found it relaxing and soothing. My doctor recommended that I find a practitioner who provided some type of 'gentle' therapy around my neck and shoulders, as she believes the gentle manipulation, over time, would improve my condition. I found Ilene Watrous on a website which listed practitioners under 'Biodynamic Therapy'. Ilene has an unusual background. She is a physical therapist but, she is also a practitioner of many holistic therapeutic modalities. When I first visited Ilene my neck was stiff and swollen at the base of my skull. Ilene was able to lessen the stiffness about 90% in the first session and I was shown techniques to use at home and have been practicing them daily with positive results. The results include more range of motion in my neck and back. I am now able to turn from left to right without resistance. Ilene provided me with mild muscle strengthening techniques, which I practice at home to build muscle mass. They do not aggravate the inflammation in my neck and upper back. Since the first session, I have received several sessions of Biodynamic Therapy. The day after the first treatment I had a sense of serenity and peace, in spite of my work stress. The effect seems to endure with every additional session. I have also received Trager therapy. The muscles in my back were released from the tension they held. The Trager approach helps to "facilite relaxation, increase physical mobility and mental clarity. Ilene Watrous has a deep passion for providing relief through physical therapies. I personally think that this was her professional purpose--she is doing what she was born to do! In addition, Ilene is a very kind, sensitive and gentle person. I feel safe during my treatment sessions. LJ 10/30/2022 Princeton NJ
