Bob is exactly what you hope to find in a local tradesman--honest, calm, knowledgeable, and fair. Every time we've had an emergency plumbing issue, Bob has been incredibly responsive and professional. More importantly, he keeps my wife and me calm when things are stressful, explains what's going on in plain language, and then handles the problem correctly the first time. One thing that really speaks volumes about his professionalism is that he did not install our Navien combi system--that was already in place when we moved in, before we found him. Despite that, Bob had zero issue servicing and repairing the unit, diagnosing problems accurately and getting it back up and running without any finger-pointing or excuses. Bob has also handled sewer repairs for us, which are not easy jobs by any stretch. Our house is well over a century old and still has mostly copper sewer lines, something many plumbers either don't want to deal with or simply don't understand anymore. Bob knew exactly what he was working with and fixed the issues properly. During that time he or an employee have been to the house three times. Each time, between the time I called and when they showed up, things would start working properly again. So they would try to diagnose the issue based on my description and do what seemed to be appropriate, and things would be fine for a while but eventually the problem would recur. So yesterday he showed up with an expensive piece of equipment to properly diagnose the issue, and having done so, brought in another expensive piece of equipment to fix the problem. He was there for over two hours, and along the way, he mentioned what he normally charges for use of that equipment because of what it cost him. I was OK with it; I was just happy to have the problem finally fixed. But when he was done, he said that he wasn't happy about the past "misdiagnoses" and I shouldn't have to pay for them, and he ended up charging me about a third of what I was expecting. When I offered to meet him halfway, he said, "Sorry, I've already entered it into the system, nothing I can do." I can't promise that you'll get price breaks like I got on this occasion, but I can promise that you won't get ripped off, and that you'll get excellent service.
