Now this on top of saying I had to do separate appointments for service on unit, and their shoddy pipe work. So called real plumber and both will be done same time. Bad business model!! So update. Was supposed to get a call back from supervisor within 24 hours. Surprise! Never got it. So to further add to this. My original review didn't include that they sent A/C tech the first time I called for boiler service and to look at rusty corrosion. He did inspection and sent report in but couldn't do service on furnace. So had to call back for the above service call, only to get above run around. My experience with AJ Pierre highlights serious issues with communication, reliability, and follow through. I scheduled a service appointment with AJ Pierre for a three unit residential property with a confirmed service window between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. By 1:00 PM, after receiving no communication regarding arrival, I contacted the office and was told dispatch would be notified and I would receive an update. I received no follow up. I called again at 2:00 PM when my appointment window had ended and was again told a message would be sent to dispatch. At that point, I requested to speak with a supervisor and was told no one was available. This is completely unacceptable. This was not only a waste of my time, but also a significant inconvenience to my tenants, who made themselves available for a scheduled service that never occurred and was never communicated. Although the representative apologized and rescheduled the appointment for three weeks later, I also requested a call back from a supervisor. As of Monday afternoon, I have still not received any response. I then attempted to locate a corporate email address and found none listed. Using the company's chat feature, I requested corporate contact information and was instead told to submit another service request. The refusal to provide basic corporate contact information is extremely concerning and unprofessional. I have spent over $30,000 with AJ Pierre for the installation of three HVAC systems, in addition to ongoing maintenance services. Given this level of investment, the lack of accountability, communication, and basic customer service is unacceptable. This appointment was scheduled as a spring tune up for all three units and was simply ignored. This experience reflects poorly on the company's professionalism and customer care. Called for a simple AC maintenance, ended up with a miswired AC unit that was left on with no regard to safety until another technician came by and mentioned that parts were misreplaced and there was no concrete diagnosis for the problem. Both instances involving speaking to an agent and a manager I was provided false information relative to my case and after acknowledging damaging the machine and lying to a consumer they tried to get back on site to do further work on an undiagnosed machine. When I said I wanted a replacement for my unit they said "the labor costs too much for us to perform" They'll ruin your machine and then tell you it's too expensive to fix for them. I'm extremely disappointed with the experience we're having with AJ Perri. We originally had ongoing ventilation and heating issues in a back bedroom. After multiple service visits that failed to resolve the problem, we were advised to install a mini split system. We trusted that recommendation and had it installed. Just three years later, the unit stopped working. In mid January, during one of the coldest stretches of the winter, the first technician arrived and told us he wasn't certified to work on mini split systems and left. A week later, another technician came, outside the promised service window, spent about ten minutes here, and told us the condenser was broken and needed to be replaced. From there, it has been constant delays and poor communication. After several calls, we were told the part was being ordered and would take several weeks. They did send over a space heater in the meantime, but it repeatedly trips the circuit breaker, which is both inconvenient and concerning from a safety standpoint. Weeks have now passed. I have called over and over for updates. I have been told someone would call me back and they do not. A member of the quality assurance team told me the replacement part had arrived and that we would be contacted to schedule installation. When I called back, I was told the part never arrived. On Sunday, I was promised a return call before 11am Monday. It is now Wednesday and there has been absolutely no communication. This unit is under warranty. If parts are unavailable, the unit should be replaced. Instead, we have been left without proper heat during one of the coldest winters on record, chasing updates and getting inconsistent information. Tech could not upsell for additional work to clear main sewer line so left without doing anything. $79.00 deal does not exist. I rented sewer cleaning machine from Home Depot for $76.00 and did it myself. I should have checked YELP for all of the NEGATIVE reviews before contacting them for service. Also the tech was very late arriving. I was told he would be here between noon and 4:00 pm and he didn't arrive until almost 6:00 pm only to try and get me to cut my sewer line or go up to the bathroom and remove the toilet for additional charges. He said his auger bit was too big to fit in the opening. I have rented the machines many times when I was younger and I know they have several different sizes that you can put on the end by simply removing one screw and putting on a different one. Worst company ever. They came and diagnosed my heating system which was not working. They determined it needed to be replaced. After installing the new system they could not get the new system to work. They then said it is an exhaust pipe issue which they don't do. Perrie had another company come out to look at the exhaust pipe and their assessment was the piping was all wrong and had to be replaced. After 3 weeks and having to move out of my house because it was zero degrees, I hired another HVAC company. They came out diagnosed the issue as a block exhaust pipe, opened it up and cleared it within 30 min. Perrie stands by their assessment that the system was bad and it was just a coincidence the exhaust pipe was also blocked. read more

Yeah, we'll that's when my heat stopped working I called a few places in my area around 7am and got an answering service. AJ Perri had an online form that I filled out and within 15mins they called me to find out what my issue was. They immediately scheduled a service call for me and I had a tech at my house by 10am. He came to Lincoln Park all the way from Tinton Falls. Alvin was great! Super professional and diagnosed the issue quickly. Our pressure switch was faulty which is why the heat kept turning off. He got the part the same day and installed it. $600 later and I had working heat again. He also scheduled for a sales rep to come out and quote me for a new unit since it's pretty old and starting to fail. In a pinch, they really stepped up and helped when needed! We had 5 different technicians in over 2 weeks before one noticed that when they installed the boiler they had left a valve shut that caused air to build up in the system. In addition to the incompetence of the 4 techs who came before, one of them was extremely condescending and insisted there was nothing wrong and the problem was just that it was cold outside. Lastly, on 3 different days over the 2 weeks the problem persisted, they said they would come in a specific time window. We waited all day, and they never showed up. The jury's still out on my AJ Perri experience. It started with my request for a simple AC and Furnace check-up, and ended up with an entire new AC system. They showed me photos of rusting coils, which I sure hope were from my system, and said AC systems last 15 - 20 years, and since mine was from about 1999 I needed to replace it. Since then I've found friends that have had their system 50 years..... Anyway, a Sales Rep came out, Matt DiBlasio, who seemed very nice and also very knowledgeable. The system was installed while I was out of town on a family emergency, and Matt was so kind and understanding with arranging payment. Unfortunately, the outside unit was installed very sloppily, with the stone all over the place and the unit not level. Then the weather turned cold again and we found that the heat didn't work via the newly installed thermostat. Matt scheduled the necessary repairs immediately, which was great, but still shouldn't have happened to begin with! But of course, once my final payment was in, I've not heard back from Matt on a number of, albeit smaller, issues that I discovered -- a mess of many bags and boxes that were in the attic, debris outside the house, etc. Not that it required any service call, but they could've been more responsible and cleaned up their messes, and they should've told me what happened in the attic so I could take care of it. I had discovered it purely by accident. Anyway, I guess my message is: Don't make your final payment until you are 100% sure everything works, and is done to your satisfaction. The bad: they charge $130 just for the visit, though they'll waive it if you use them to repair whatever it is you need repaired The ugly: they wanted $1000 just to change the flush valve in my toilet. Mind you, I already had the part on hand. I just needed somebody to install it. The only reason I called AJ Perri was because my own plumber had ghosted me. My own plumber only charged me $250 to 1) change a rusty valve in my bathroom 2) remove an old toilet and 3) install a new toilet. Had an unfortunate experience with A.J. Perri. Enough to write my first 1 star review. The technician was professional and nice, no complaints towards him. Most HVAC companies disclose how much they charge for first pound and subsequent pounds of refrigerant. They didn't give me those numbers over the phone (I asked)... they charged $137 for a technician to come diagnose and quoted me 3 times that of the 2nd highest quote I got. Just for recharge of 4 lbs of refrigerant I was quoted $1600. $650 for first pound and $250 for each pound after. I think their business model is to take advantage of people during the heatwave and make money off the $137 technician fee. If they had given me the vaguest estimate of the recharge price or given me a reasonable estimate I wouldn't have wasted my time and $137. I called and expressed my concerns, the quality department wasn't very receptive which makes me want to inform the public. Next stop... my community forums/group chat. I strongly recommend staying away, it's not worth contacting for a quote... it will be unfairly/price gouging-ly high and you will pay them $137 to give it to you. read more

I called AJ Perri regarding my toilet that I believe might be leaking because I saw discoloration/staining on the grout around the base of the toilet. A nice gentleman came by and gave me a quote of $945!!! (I think that was the exact amount) to lift and reset the toilet. I could not believe what I heard. After he called his supervisor to try to give me a discount, I got a quote of $650. I still felt that was too much so I told him I will look for other quotes. I called two other plumbing companies. After describing the problem, one gave me an estimate over the phone for around $350. The other company I called came by and gave me a quote (and did the work) for $384. (Also, when I searched on the internet for the average cost for that kind of work, the amount I paid was consistent with the average price.) Please note: The reason I had only called AJ Perri, without calling other plumbers to compare quotes, is because I used AJ Perri twice in the past and their prices were reasonable and the technicians were very nice and competent. They seem to have no problem taking the appointment, but when it comes to actually showing up, they're completely unreliable--kind of like that famous Seinfeld bit: "You know how to take the reservation, but you don't know how to hold the reservation." This is day 12 without heat due to an error made by AJ Perri a year ago on a new $27,000 system. Upon reflection, the sales department was SUPER responsive 2 years ago when I purchased a new Air Conditioning system ($17k) and a year ago when we bought a new furnace. Installation was smooth and friendly. But now that there's a problem, I can't get a hold of anyone with good information or influence. Day 4 -The service tech who finally looked at the system determined that upon installation AJ Perri failed to attach a flue sensor. So the system ran for over a year without this attached. The dangling metal sensor then shorted out the system. Day 6 - your parts will be in today! Once they're here we'll get you scheduled. *crickets* Day 8 - Thanksgiving. At least the over kept us warm. Day 10 - (after many failed customer service calls) the Customer Service QA manager called me to see why I was such a hot head. She had no info on my issue because all of the correspondence was put on the wrong address/account. She finally understood the severity of the issue and asked if she could look into it and quickly call me back. The was two days ago. *crickets again* Day 12 - headed into a week of overnight temps in the teens. Still no updates. The parts department gets in at 10:30am. LOLOLOLOL ***SUMMARY*** This issue was escalated to management 10 days ago and I haven't heard from anyone accountable. Zero sense of urgency. It feels like they're just waiting for parts to arrive from amazon or something rather than doing what the first tech suggested - someone drive to the supply house. Their google reviews definitely gave an incomplete picture, and I see Yelp is more accurate. Had a plumbing emergency on Friday night and couldn't use any of the water in our house without it overflowing the downstairs toilet and/or draining sewage into the bathtub. So not ideal. They didn't have anyone immediately available but said they could set me up with an appointment from 8 am to 12. I kept calling other plumbers and when none could come out (without an exorbitant fee), I called back to explain that it was my mom's birthday; we could not use any of the water in our house, and we were planning a two day trip that left the next morning. The woman assured me that even though it was 8-12, she'd put me in as priority so we'd be the first served. I thanked her so profusely, and felt good that it would be done so we could leave. They called sometime around 10 to let us know that we were absolutely going to be next (I guess not first, as was stated). In the interim, two other plumbers I'd called the night before, including one for an appointment at 8 am, had called, and I'd told them I had an appointment with AJ Perri. I called back a bit later, explained again that we had a two day birthday trip planned, and that we were told we were next in line and hadn't heard anything. Assured we were the next case. In this time a THIRD plumber called back to ask if we still needed someone. I then got a call at 11:30 (so my "priority" was 30 minutes from the end time given) saying that sure we were the next case, but now it would be 1 or 1:30. I reiterated that we had a trip that was well on the way to being ruined, had no plumbing, and had to shower at a neighbor's house and go to the bathroom at the local senior center. Didn't seem all that concerned. I cancelled and called one of the plumbers who had called to try to resolve matters earlier, and made an appointment for Monday afternoon. Not only were they polite and prompt, they were early! I SO wish I'd stuck with Polite Plumber, particularly now that I see from the reviews, that this is pretty standard practice for AJ Perri. Called for a "winter prep" tune-up but it was more of an inspection to see what they can recommend fixing for more $$$. The technician didn't complete cleaning of the evaporator coils and said it was extra even though it clearly said it was included in the tune-up. Said my heat exchanger needs to be replaced but I should just look into replacing my entire HVAC system which they originally said was 9 years old until I told them we bought the house new construction in 2021. They have fixed my heat before, so I know they are capable, but these "tune-up" promos you receive in the mail seem to be a way for them to just get in your home to and point out things you need to fix/replace. read more

A salesman was at the door with-in hrs and wanted to sell her a 14,000. unit We got a second opinion from another company and it turns out the unit was fine , nothing wrong with it at all. Firstly, I've never ever have written a bad review about anyone albeit warranted. I have no time and by and large, it's serves little purpose. But this A.J Perri experience takes the cake. So, as was recommended by A.J Perri post maintenance/tune up appointment, I decided to install a brand new heating/air cond unit last November. I cant even begin to convey the grief and horror stories experienced during and post the installation, including living in in freezing cold, sleeping in the hotels, etc. Finally and after 6 tries including having their manager on site, it became functional. They've assured me that unit is perfect including air condition that will function when the warm whether begins. Well, the warm whether is hear now and guess what, it's not working. Perhaps that I am just amazingly unlucky, but, draw your own conclusion. As for me, this company to be avoided like a plague. Not to pile on, but at the same time as they were installing my unit, my son called them to repair his. Long story short; they've recommended to install a new unit at the cost of 14K, while a different company repaired it for $800. Again, draw your own conclusion. I specifically told the technician to use the larger auger bit, since in the past when a smaller bit was used, the problem wasn't fully resolved and I had to call them back. The tech dismissed my concern, insisting he was a professional and knew what he was doing -- but he used the smaller bit anyway. Sure enough, the drain backed up again just two weeks later. When I called AJ Perri back, I was told the 30-day warranty no longer applied because I had been given an estimate to replace the entire line for $21,000 -- as if that somehow voided any accountability for the work already done. I was forced to pay the full price again for another cleaning. They have clearly changed their warranty policy, and it feels like they're using high-cost replacement estimates to avoid honoring their guarantees. Their technician incorrectly told me I needed a new sump pump. He installs it and the water does not leave my basement. I am the one who figures out there no outlet for the pump while the "plumber" is there. I am charged $1000 for a sump pump I don't need and I'm eventually given a $400 credit. Today I had a bath tub faucet that kept dripping. I thought I would call them to install a new shower handle and use my $400 credit. Their plumber comes and quotes me $4000! To replace a bath tub faucet and handle! I was ready to get ripped off but for $4000 I could redo the entire bathroom. And they didn't even let me use my credit because the address is different even though I own both houses. Then I was charged $130 for them to give me this outrageous estimate!
