During our phone interview Jay sounded great and especially loved the fact he was crypto literate. It was downhill from there. Here are the negatives..... 1, He kept accusing us og not knowing hot to properly do bookkeeping and asking us to turn over our bookkeeping to him - for a fee of course. We have never had any CPA complain about our bookkeeping and we have been doing it for 19 years. 2. He failed to depreciate our buildings at our business thereby causing me to end up owing the IRS an additional 15k in taxes that I should have never paid. Our new CPA caught this and filed an amended return to correct the mess Jay created. 3. He never filed the franchise tax report with the TX Comptroller's office and never bothered to mention that he did not file it. This caused us to get a notice from the state putting us out of business until we remedy this by filing our report. Again our new CPA is handling it. 4. Jay is constantly trying to upsell services as add ons that other CPA firms include in their tax preparation service. Also when something goes wrong it is always the clients issue never his responsibility. Stay away. This was the worst accounting experience ever.

At one point, she scheduled an in-person meeting in Dallas even though we live in Houston, apparently expecting us to make a roughly four-hour drive for a meeting. That level of disorganization was incredibly frustrating. Worst of all, our 2024 and 2025 taxes were not completed as expected, and now we're left dealing with money owed to the IRS. The lack of communication, organization, and follow-through has cost us both time and money. When we asked about the steep increased amount, we were told that we'd be given a 15% discount for being long-time clients of the firm. The discount amount was quoted at 5% vs. 15% we were just told we'd be given. It was not a promising start with the new owners for both the price hike and not being able (or willing) to calculate a discount amount correctly. Went elsewhere.
