I've been working out in some form since I was 15, and over the years, I've worked with various…read moretrainers and coaches who helped me reach my goals at the time. But after Covid hit, I transitioned to at-home workouts--rowing, walking, and VR exercises. While they kept me active, I wasn't building any real strength. As a Lab mom, I started noticing I was struggling to lift my dog's 32lb bag of food. I had a hard time with it--way more than I should have. That's when it hit me: age was playing a role, and the lack of consistent strength training was catching up to me. I knew I needed to get back into the gym, but I wasn't interested in a big-box gym. I needed personal attention and encouragement from a coach who understood my goals. On top of that, I had been dealing with a nagging shoulder issue that was quickly progressing toward becoming a frozen shoulder. It was clear I needed help, so I scheduled a meeting with Casey--and I'm so glad I did! Casey is hands down the best trainer I've ever worked with. From the very first session, he knew exactly how to work around my shoulder issue without compromising my ability to lift heavy again. Over the past two years, we've worked through injuries together, and thanks to Casey's deep understanding of muscle function and how everything connects, we've been able to maintain and even increase strength while carefully protecting the problem areas. What I appreciate most about Casey is his balance of empathy and motivation. He's incredibly encouraging and understanding, but he also knows exactly how to push me beyond what I think I'm capable of, always in a supportive, positive way. If you're looking for a trainer who is not only knowledgeable but genuinely cares about your long-term health and progress, Casey is the one. Working with him has truly been a game-changer, and I couldn't be more grateful for the progress we've made together.

It was really important to have this feature and I had seen photos of it on the ymca website so I asked the 2 women at the front desk to please cancel the membership I just signed up for. They said they didn't know how to refund the $50 membership fee so they would have to ask the next day. It didn't get done and then I received an email from Laura Gonzales the membership coordinator saying all I could get was a $50 credit. How am I supposed to use that? It's completely useless. I am very upset about this. It's not the money, it's the principal of it. How they advertise they are family friendly and all that, then pull a fast one and keep your money and you get nothing for it because you changed your mind mid-sign up. I hadn't even left the building!

Normally when I am in California, I would be going to the one near my flat but this one is a lot better than I expect. It seems to be a very good place to get fit. The location is also very near where my office is. I can just drive up or ride the bus and go right in. The pool is super nice, right temperature and good place to water walk or swim very slowing since I am a beginner. This is one of three YMCAs I go to in Oregon, the other one is in Albany which is a bit of a long drive. The staff that work here is super nice like the one near my flat. For the days I am in the state of Oregon, this is a great place for the community. Warning: If you have the wrong kind of membership then you are bound to suffer.

After touring the gyms I came away with the impression that Stafford was by far the best gym in the area. The staff is superb and the gym and equipment are clean. None of that terrible "gym" smell that you often get at the gyms as they age. They also do an excellent job at making sure there aren't so many members in the gym that there are long wait times to use the equipment.

"A place where everybody knows your name... and you're always glad you came." [1]…read more My review is based on my membership of one year where I've consistently visited 4x/week. Beginning during the end stages of COVID restrictions, it was so nice to experience outdoor swimming, the hot tub, and social time with other members. Swimming is my main experience at the club so here is what you should know: * Six lane outdoor salt water pool that is open year round (I've done laps in the snow, sleet, and hail). * You can reserve four of the six lanes and it is very competitive to get times, especially during the warm weather months when you are competing for space with the swim team, swim lessons, and aqua aerobics classes. * The other two lanes are left open for first come first serve usage and swimmers are encouraged to share. * The outdoor hot tub is for 14+ over. I have only taken one yoga class at the club and all classes have you reserve your spot. If you cancel less than 12 hours in advance or are a no show, you are charged a $10 fee. Personally, I don't mind since the reservation system makes me accountable and if I don't have a reservation, I'm less likely to go workout. The club is a nice mix of serious athletes (I'm surrounded by masters swimmers and triathletes), retirees, and families. Prior to my membership, my teenage son was a member for two years and loved the weight room, sauna, and steam room. The club as been open for awhile and is definitely showing its age and is need of some maintenance upgrades in the pool area. That being said, I have been very happy with my membership here and the personal feel, literally being greet by name when entering and exiting, and the wonderful customer service. This club is very different from the large national chains, so to each their own. Definitely recommend a trial membership at this club as well as others in the area to see which is the best fit for you. [1] I am currently re-watching this classic sitcom and while not aging well in the post Me Too era, still good for a lot of laughs.

I would never recommend Club Pilates Sherwood. This was, without question, the worst customer…read moreservice experience I've had with any fitness studio. The studio refuses to assist members with account issues in person and instead directs everything to email. Unfortunately, when you do email --even multiple times--you receive no response. Trying to cancel a membership is unnecessarily difficult, and to make matters worse, my card continued to be charged after my cancellation. Despite repeated attempts to resolve the issue, no one responded or took the simple step of stopping the recurring charges on their end. The lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service is incredibly frustrating. Members shouldn't have to chase down a business just to get a response about billing issues. Beyond the customer service, I also found this to be one of the least enjoyable Club Pilates locations. The overall experience simply doesn't compare to other studios. Thankfully, I'm switching to the Wilsonville studio, and the difference is night and day. The staff there is welcoming, professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful. They provide the level of customer service that every member should expect - timely communication, respect, and a willingness to help. If you're considering Club Pilates in the area, I strongly recommend Wilsonville and would avoid the Sherwood location.

I got a personal trainer. With two little ones, I decided it's time I get healthier. But, what do I know about fitness?! From day 1 - I was put at ease by Nick. He met with me, talked to me about my goals and discussed what sort of options were available to me. He never once made me feel like it was a hard sell - more, he was here to answer my questions and encourage me. Most importantly, he assured me that this wasn't going to be something that was going to drive me away. The team was going to work with me at my pace. I decided I'd go three mornings a week - totally crazy, right?! Now, I work with Vince three early mornings a week. Vince is awesome! He's fun to work with, super knowledgeable - always taking the time to explain things to me. And, most importantly, he's encouraging. I'm nowhere NEAR as advanced as some of the people I see, but Vince makes me feel like I have a place there. Just a few months ago, I would have NEVER thought you'd EVER find me in a gym. Now, I look forward to going!

But seriously, this gym is so much cleaner, including the pool, showers and locker rooms. It's a much newer physicality and in a building they built, so it should be better. Came here when The Pearl pool was closed for repairs and I was really impressed. Loved the pool! It seems to be 25 meters whereas The Pearl is 25 yards, and it makes a difference. Lots of natural light coming in from the huge windows, which I love when I'm swimming. And it's not as crowded. I had the lane to myself for an hour while others came, swam, and left, sharing the other lanes. My only complain is the steps going into the pool are quite high. I'm currently using a cane as I'm dealing with hip issues, and it was challenging for me to take that first step in, and then to take that last step out. The other locations have half steps leading into the pool making it easier, and safer, for those who are handicapped or dealing with injuries to access the pool. The locker room is much larger, has several areas where you can sit on a bench and be out of the way So everyone is. It in top of each other. The showers were so much cleaner! And there is plenty of room on the counter for your stuff while you dry your hair and get ready afterwards. It took me about 20 minutes to get there, with no traffic, so it won't be my everyday gym since The Pearl is just 10 minutes away. But I'll definitely use this pool on days I have appointments out in Tualatin, which is often, or when I have extra time and want to enjoy a better swim.
