I canceled my Progressive 12-month Homeowners Insurance policy in late May 2025, approximately 6 months before expiration. Their website shows that a refund of $478.39 was sent on May 20. Ripped me off on price and told me they would pay for the $2500 storage fee but after they paid us said they wouldn't pay it. Barely had any money left after paying that. Why doesn't Progressive Insurance automatically refund an overpayment? We didn't even know that our mortgage company had inexplicably overpaid Progressive Insurance until we received our monthly mortgage statement. Our mortgage company can't even explain why it had overpaid Progressive Insurance. Nor could Progressive Insurance explain why they had kept the overpayment, or even why they didn't automatically refund all overpayments. The hyper-greed corporations like Progressive Insurance practice is usually able to be avoided, but here Progressive Insurance's avarice to me is a bummer. Progressive Insurance can't even give me an answer as to when they will refund to me this overpayment. Keeping existing customers satisfied provides a much better return to any business than continually searching for new customers is a fact this greedy, thieving and lazy business ignores. The fact that this business remains unclaimed on Yelp proves just how much this business doesn't care at all what its customers and the public think about it. Progressive paid its CEO nearly $14.2 million in total compensation in 2018. There is NO way a millionaire let alone a multi-millionaire (or billionaire) can ever understand or appreciate how someone like me as a disabled Veteran unable to be employed due to my military Service-connected disabilities who is on a fixed income for life finds the theft of some of my money to be a huge burden. Clearly, "I'm from a corporation and I'm here to help," means help the corporation NOT we the corporation's customers. Progressive Insurance doesn't even pretend to maintain a patina of relatability to we the 99%. Progressive insurance is a nightmare. My claim rep's name is Giana Malone who is impossible to deal with. I missed her first phone call about my claim, then the nightmare began. I called her and left a voicemail every day for 3 weeks and texted her every day in the same period of time, no response. I know she's not on vacation because I did get lucky and she answered the phone once during these 3 weeks instead of going to her voicemail, and she said she would call, still, nothing. I was almost driven to crazy by this kind of treatment. I even thought about setting up an alarm and continue calling every day for the another month, then I realized how crazy this sounds. Then I called progressive and asked for changing my rep to another person. I was told my request will be given to the supervisor named Billy Trejo, and I was also told since it was Thursday afternoon, Billy will call me the next day. I waited and Friday no phone call. I call Billy on Monday, left a Voicemail and the voicemail said all phone call would be replied by the next business day. I waited and Tuesday no phone call. So one month of the nightmare later, I am still waiting for that first phone call of my claim. I am helpless and turning into yelp. If anyone in progress sees this, please ask either Giana Malone or Billy Trejo to call me. If this review is still here after days or months or years, that means I never got that phone call from progressive and no one in progress even care about their reputation and treat customs like dust. read more

I was a customer with progressive for 13 years (ever since I could drive at 16). Since I moved to California I received poor customer service. I was yanked around on multipolicy discounts which apparently they no longer offer to renters in California. I was told one auto policy renewal rate over the phone then by mail received something $80/month higher. It is astonishing the gaps in the state specific knowledge of their customer service team. They have no appreciation for customer loyalty. read more

We were the victims of fraud by SGT Auto Transport, Evergreen Chain LLC, and Progressive Insurance. We contracted with SGT to ship our new car from Boston to Madison, WI. SGT represented on its website "Full Insurance Coverage - We include comprehensive insurance coverage in our prices. You know your vehicle is fully covered and secure throughout your auto transport service." SGT claims on its website: "Our team of professional auto transport advisors work around the clock, 365 days a year, to ensure our car shipping service runs like clockwork. We pride ourselves on being there when you need us." In our contract, SGT agreed to "facilitate and attempt to assist in the resolution of freight claims." These claims were false. Evergreen Chain LLC, the company SGT hired to transport our car, damaged our car in shipment. After we drove the car, we noticed that the front bumper and splash guard had been damaged and would require repair. SGT refused to reimburse us for repairs and declined any assistance other than to send us a certificate of insurance identifying Evergreen's insurance carrier, Progressive, and washing their hands of the entire affair. We paid $1,771 to fix the car and rent a car during the repair and filed a claim with Progressive. Shortly thereafter, we received a phone call from Evergreen promising to pay our damages directly and asking us to withdraw our claim with Progressive. After we sent Evergreen the receipts for the repairs and rental car, Evergreen claimed that they had mailed a check. They never mailed the check. Realizing that we had been conned, we reinstated our claim with Progressive. Evergreen, however, refused to identify the truck that it used to transport our car. Without Evergreen's cooperation, Progressive claimed that it could not determine whether the truck was covered by its policy. We asked Evergreen to identify the truck, but they ignored us. We also requested that SGT and Progressive require Evergreen to identify the truck based on their contractual relationship with Evergreen, where they had the power to cut Evergreen off from further business. SGT and Progressive refused to take any action against Evergreen, and Progressive denied our claim. We later learned that Evergreen has only one truck, so Progressive did not need Evergreen's cooperation to pay our claim. In sum, SGT lied when it promised insurance coverage: while SGT and Evergreen may have had insurance, neither insurance policy covered our loss. In the end, we paid SGT and Evergreen more than $1,200 to ship our car and were stuck with an additional bill for $1,771. read more

After having NO claims and no problems, they raised my rate RIGHT AFTER they gave the Covid discount & blamed it on general rate increases. I lived in a VERY safe neighborhood. They only did this to makeup for the $40 discount they gave in 2020. NOT a coincidence. Not befire ir since have my rates gone up when I had NO claims. Shame on them! Do not believe the Progressive Ins. commercials. When trying to obtain insurance for my truck and travel trailer this company wrote down the wrong information which we gave them correctly. We gave them our permanent address, and our mailing address. We gave them Vin numbers which they incorrectly wrote on the policy and gave them our permanent address. We told them we were traveling this year and would be going from state to state to see the United States. When we decided to change insurance companies they inadvertently put the wrong state of residence. They refused to understand we lived in California and were visiting in Nevada, so, they put Nevada as our residence. WRONG. We tried and tried to correct them. They took our money and then said we are going to cancel you because our bank did not have us down as living in Pahrump Nevada only visiting. Our bank only had our California address and refused to pay them. We have proof of our residence is in California and have lived there since birth. PROGRESS INSURANCE MADE THE ERROR AND REFUSED TO CORRECT IT AND SAID THEY ARE GOING TO CANCEL OUR INSURANCE. This company has incompetent employees and not properly educated. My advice to all of you out there who travel from state to state in a RV don't change your insurance while traveling. This is the worst company we have ever dealt with. Travelers beware PROGRESS INSURANCE is a fraud. Lie after lie. Our bank is also in California and we did advise them when we decided to take this trip.
