The doctors at Artis have changed his medications and he has regained quite a bit of autonomy. They really seem to understand the aging process and how to best support independence. The best is that our father is happy! He has friends and he loves to be with them. Artis embraces the members families and welcomes the families to be as involved as possible. We find this refreshing and we go to visit almost every day! We are very grateful everyday for Artis.

Lucy has been more than accommodating by helping to make my mother in law feel welcome and settled in . She has updated our family with daily texts , pictures etc . She has eased our minds( my husband and his 2 siblings ) and is very approachable. We had concerns since we made the decision to make the move and Lucy helped to ease our minds and nerves . She is very hard working , has a wonderful disposition and shows love and patience to not only my MIL but all the residents . But the best part of this home is its wonderful and generous staff. All of the staff, who are led by the home's administrator, Myrna Daos, go every extra mile that they can for us. Their hearts are filled with kindness and are made of gold. Saturday afternoon, a member of the home's staff gave me a hug, and that made me feel oh so very good inside. A hug is about the best gift one can receive. Her gift was a totally generous act and it was the highlight of my day. A gift of a hug is much more rewarding than receiving a billion dollars times a billion dollars every day. If I had to chose between spending the remainder of my days here with my peers and caregivers at Spring Valley Rest Home, or alone living in a mansion, I'd remain here with the people who love me. My father just spent a week in Woodcliff after a bout with pneumonia in the hospital. He has…read moredementia and doesn't speak so my ability to get info from Woodcliff staff was crucial. I would like to suggest 3 things that did not happen for me: 1.) give family a contact point when a patient arrives so we don't have to spend time each day calling anyone whose name we could glean to get info. 2.) let family know if a therapist is on vacation! The main receptionist transferred me to the speech therapist 4 days in a row (where I left messages) w/o telling me that person was on vacation. 3.) make it clear to family who is in charge of what. I was trying to find out if my father is eating. I was bounced around to multiple people on a call and finally got a nurse, who told me I need to come there to see for myself. (I live a few hours away.) Not acceptable! I am sure everyone's doing their best but it was a pretty traumatic experience all in all.

Casey is an excellent PT focusing on the two issues I am having problems with. She knows how work my knees to loosen them so that walking is easier. Also, her focus on balance activities has really made a difference with my fear of falling. From the beginning Casie listened to my concerns and made a plan to help me. Also a shout out to the front end staff. They are all very friendly and helpful.

A family member of mine recently had to be removed from the facility in Chestnut Ridge NY and…read morehospitalized because of neglect and abuse. the family member did not have Covid-19, but was locked in their room for weeks with the bare minimum. Unable to leave the bed unattended, their person was often left cold and shaking in a soiled and wet bed without blankets. A private nurses aid had to be hired so the person would be able to have their basic human needs met. The family has photos and videos of the conditions. I would put less than one star if I could. Covid-19 or not; its still no reason to ignore a person and leave them without food and water in reach. I hope the facility will be held accountable.
