We celebrated our friends birthday dinner at Prontos and Robert our server was such a delight! The food was great and the cocktails were a very good pour! Did you know they have a Bloody Mary bar!?!? I walked by and didn't even know, sat down, ordered a Bloody Mary, and heard the great news! They had cheese, sausage, pickles, olives, peppers, zing zang, Clamato, tomato juice, V8, pickle juice, olive juice, bacon, chips, and more! I was in awe! Aside from that awesomeness, our service and food were good! I had pancakes and I think my stack was 6! Definitely enough to feed two people. I got the fresh fruit with it and it was perfect. My husband had the Pronto Deluxe which was your basic breakfast. Eggs, pancakes, and sausage. He said it was just what he needed! That's all I've got. Nothing bad about our experience! I have always had good meals at pronto and my luck continued today! We ordered door dash and the food came hot and delicious! We had pretzel bites with beer cheese dip!! Then we ordered a chicken Sandwich, it came with bacon and it was served on a brioche bun! All delicious! And of course we had a cookie it was massive! read more

The mound of red rice was leftovers from the day before and must have come out of the fridge and straight into the gumbo. The shrimp po boy was also cold. It didn't have much flavor either. At least the bread wasn't stale. The mini paczkis were a joke. They were horribly stale, tasted like two days old. The berry, custard, and chocolate fillings were gelatinous. They were served cold too. They were out of Blue Moon draft which was on their drink menu. The booth had dried up orange splatter on the back so I couldn't lean back. ***** I added pics of some of the sweets that they had at the counter (up close they did not look fresh) and also a pic of the small Sunday Bloody Mary Bar (I saw no one in the place drinking a Bloody Mary, so me thinks this is not the place to order one) read more

Both patrons and staff in this establishment showed disrespect to my friend. My friend asked if there was a staff to clean a spill that someone else had made. The staff member proceeded to throw the towel at her and say "You do it." When my friend brought this situation to the manager, there was no action done. The staff proceeded to ask her to leave, when the staff had mistreated and yelled at my friend. Both the patrons and staff were screaming in her face and caused her great distress. It is heartbreaking for us to not be respected in what is supposed to be our safe place. read more

What happened to this restaurant?! I've been here many, many times over the years. It always had ridiculously slow service (to the point where we called it "non pronto" as a joke), but we lovingly put up with it because it had good food and was a long-standing tradition in the community. Then, both the service and the food became merely mediocre. We put up with it, still, because it was what it was. Now, there simply is no excusing the fact that it is just bad. It's a shame that we can't look past the occasional shortcomings, anymore. The truth is, I'm done making excuses for this place, despite its longstanding reputation as iconic within the local community. It isn't good! It's time we acknowledge that. The bar might still be busy on Saturday nights - not because it's good, but because there is a distinct lack of acceptable alternatives in the area. That doesn't make it worthwhile and I'm tired of pretending it is good enough. It isn't. It's time for the owners to decide if this place is a nostalgic relic better suited for the stories of yesteryear or a current interest, because the memories of how it used to be are not enough to warrant repeated disappointments. The restaurant is awful and if the dinner crowd of three tables occupied on a Saturday night at 6:30 is any indication, I am not alone in this assessment. The service sucked, the menu is lacking, and the food is barely a nod to its former glory. This place is now just a sad remnant of what it once was and the management seems to be even more over it than the former clientele. The quality is simply unacceptable now and that makes the zombie like service simply unforgivable. This place is now inexcusably bad. I'm done pretending it is okay. It isn't. The bar might still be busy (I didn't bother staying to find out), but the restaurant is dead and it is no mystery as to why. Until they get their tired act together, do yourself a favor and skip it. Pronto is one of my go-to brunch spots in Royal Oak. I've been quite a few times for brunch and the stuffed French toast is my go-to favorite. The stuffed French toast is topped with strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries, stuffed with cream cheese and drizzled in caramel sauce, yum! It is usually decadent and delightful, but I was a little disappointed in the stuffed french toast the last time I came in. They used a piece of bread that was close to the heel and could have used more cream cheese, and was a little drier than usual and more sparse with the berries. The last time I came to Pronto was before the Saint Practice Day pub crawl for brunch and service was pretty fast even though they were relatively busy. My friend had the eggs Benedict served with breakfast potatoes and another friend had the avocado toast topped with poached eggs which she said was very tasty. Pronto also offers chocolate chip pancakes, a variety of omelettes, huevos rancheros and sandwiches and salads too. They also have a very good build your own Bloody Mary bar. You can order mimosas singly for around $5 a piece or mimosas for your whole table which comes with a bottle of champagne and carafe of orange juice for $15. I also came for dinner once with a large group, around 20 people, for a birthday party. They did a good job of accommodating our large group. It was easy to get a reservation for this large number of people and service was good. I had the Santa Fe taco salad which was good but I was jelly of my friend's Pronto Pasta which looked and smelled incredible. The Pronto Pasta, is a three cheese baked macaroni and cheese with Havarti, sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack served in a skillet and topped with bread crumbs. He added chicken for an upcharge. Another friend ordered the meatloaf which he really liked. Prices are really affordable, with most items being around $9 - $14. Pronto also hosts karaoke on Wednesday nights and often live band karaoke with the Persuasion band. I know I'll be back again soon probably for brunch. So, I have been a patron here for many years, intermittently. I was able to visit while I was in town over the holidays... the atmosphere is almost identical to what it was a couple of years ago, though the place didn't get as packed as what I recall. The vibes have changed a bit and it would be nice to see some spunk return to the bar. Different events and/or theme nights. Bring back the OG feel, ya know? I had the sweetest, most adorable bartender that night who tended to my friends and I with a smile. I believe his name was Corbin. He just made our nights and was super attentive. Oh so sad to have a poor experience here. I hate writing truly negative reviews, but my experience warranted the truth. In general, their prices are reasonable and you can get a bottle of champagne and unlimited orange juice for only $12. This past weekend however, was a disaster. Ordered a roast turkey sandwich with parmesan fries. Asked for no barbecue sauce, and instead a side of peppercorn ranch. They didn't bring out my ranch until I asked another waitress,and there was barbecue sauce on the sandwich! The "parmesan" fries were dusted with a low quality gritty cheese. The worst part:the waiter charged my card my meal price of $14...AND my entire table's meal of $43. He did not tell me this. I saw the extra charge when I got home. The manager assured me on the phone that he had made a mistake, and said the charge would be dropped in 3-5 days. That happened,but the money was still taken out and they offered nothing for their mistake. Also, the waiter knew he made a mistake and never said anything when he brought my card back. This type of service won't get my business again, which is unfortunate. read more

Been coming to pronto for years and have seen it change management a few times. This is the best it has ever been! The music is better, the food is delicious (try the Chicken Alfredo), the events are unmatched, and the staff makes you feel like you're a part of the experience rather than just another patron. Oh, Pronto! I have spent countless nights and dollars in your bar. I think that Pronto has the nicest, friendliest bartenders in the area and they are what keep me coming back. In addition, I highly recommend karaoke on Wednesday nights as it's probably the best karaoke in the area. However, as others have suggested the name Pronto is misleading as the restaurant service is quite slow. The menu is quite large with a plethora of sandwiches to choose from including several vegetarian options. The sandwiches are served with potato chips but for a price you can upgrade to fries, onion rings, potato salad or orzo. The food tastes good and has many interesting options to choose from. On my last visit, my companions and I sat on the front patio, which was delightful. However, it took about an hour to be served our three vegetarian sandwiches with chips. The server was nice and gave us a big piece of bumpy cake for free because of our wait. The cake was so rich we couldn't finish it. Another Yelper indicated the drinks are somewhat expensive, which is true. However, there are happy hour specials throughout the week and drink specials on weekday nights. The promotions seem to change occasionally, but they are there. I would only recommend Pronto if you have a lot of time to spare or if you want a drink. read more

Horrible. We ordered Bottomless mimosas and all the glasses had lipstick stains. The orange juice was diluted and literally tasted like water. Once we received our food it was plated on paper plates. I ordered the avocado toast and the avocados were all brown. My friend got the grilled cheese and it had old brown lettuce pieces. Fries, pancakes and sandwich were cold. When approaching the manager he was not apologetic but he did take a few of the meals off of the bill. This place used to be amazing! Not sure what happened but we will not be back. So disappointed. This was supposed to be my birthday lunch and we got take out. The order was wrong when picked up - they missed one of the items and gave us two of another (which had an item on there that shouldn't have been as it was requested off) and then the third item they were missing the main item. Had to call and go back up there to get the proper items and even then as it was being checked things were still missing the proper items. So then the food was cold. We came in for dinner recently and the food was fine nothing exceptional, but what made our time OUTSTANDING was our server Riley. He was the only server for the entire restaurant on a busy Friday night but he made us feel as if we were the only people there. Our drinks were never empty, he was incredibly personable and friendly. It is so rare nowadays to see a young person with that type of work ethic. He was really working hard to make sure every table was happy and taken care of, again you don't get this type of service anywhere anymore. I have been going to Pronto! Video Bar for the past two years and all I can say is wow. The service and management truly reflects the meaning of going above and beyond. While the interior could use some TLC, and the bathrooms have a unique smell that can only be described as questionable, I would still give this establishment 5 stars! The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is lively. If you are looking for something fun to do on the weekends or have a few drinks after work in a LGBTQ safe place - this is definitely the place to be! This was the first time at this restaurant for me where I was in the mood for something light and I ended up ordering the Mediterranean Chicken Salad. The Pronto Mediterranean salad is a traditional Greek salad with beets, feta cheese, tomatoes, yellow pepper, black olives, onion, fresh lettuce, Grilled chicken all topped with a balsamic vinegar dressing. All ingredients in the salad were definitely fresh with crispy lettuce which is the starting point for a good salad. Unfortunately the tastiness of the salad was a bit pedestrian for my palate and left me wanting a bigger flavor punch. Based on my own personal palate, the salad appeared to be lacking some key herbs/spices to give the flavor punch it so badly needed which would have elevated this salad into the realm of good to very good. Considering how many restaurants in the area make very good Mediterranean style salads I was definitely underwhelmed by this offering. Also, the presentation of the entree, which I put a certain importance on, could use some work as well as it looks like the salad was just kind of thrown together with the dressing dropped in the middle of the bowl. Food aside, the service was both great and friendly and I do like the location of this restaurant right in the heart of downtown Royal Oak. Overall Three stars based primarily on the taste of my entree with honorable mention for fast friendly wait staff. read more

MUST TRY!! Or Try again. The food is absolutely DEVINE. The restaurant, bar and club next door are all under new management. I had a small wedding reception there which was perfect. If you are planning a party, speak with Suede who makes the entire delicious experience simple, flexible, and AFFORDABLE without compromising what you want for your guests. He thinks of everything so the planning part is highly efficient, and he does all the work and worrying, so you literally just need to show up and receive compliments on your venue and menu selection. They don't charge for the room which easily saves between $500-$2,000, and you only pay for drinks your party consumes. I frankly have not met managers and owners who are all consistently and genuinely good decent people like this team. Did I mention the very affordable dessert table? We had fresh Pronto prepared cake, cannolis and chocolate covered strawberries. The only time my guests stopped raving about the dinner was after they went to the dessert table, and those compliments lasted the rest of the event. If you have been there in the past, you have got to see what an amazing experience the new management offers. They have updated almost all areas (no more wet, squishy carpet) and the food is much better tasting than many fine dining restaurants in Royal Oak, Troy or Birmingham. If you go, please try their spinach artichoke dip - heavenly. The management is friendly and they have a surprisingly impressive offering at very reasonable pricing. For a place this size, it is amazing how many choices they have for all dietary requirements including my long list of severe food allergies (for which Suede gladly substituted items). They also have something for everyone when it comes to ambiance and entertainment. The restaurant and outside patio are quiet enough for a great family experience despite that they have a 'party all night' bar, patio and dance floor on the other side. For those of you who can tolerate some quite naughty comments, the drag queen shows at Five15 next door are as good as any in Vegas. If purchasing drag tickets, I highly recommend Sabin who is deservedly one of the most popular and hilarious drag queens in the Midwest. I am so impressed that I barely want to pass along this sparkly gem, since it might limit the restaurant's availability going forward. I moved 40 miles away and still go back frequently. If planning an event, reserve early since they fill up quickly. For completeness, I should mention that while better, the bathrooms haven't been brought up to the same level as the restaurant. They are much cleaner and I know this management team won't stop until they reach perfection in every area. I had always loved Pronto, since the 90's. I was traveling for a few years and had not been to the restaurant side in a few years. I went there with friends yesterday, was really looking forward to it. The inside restaurant had 3-4 customers and one waiter (on Father's Day with a festival going on in Royal Oak). The two drinks we got were terrible and the food was mediocre. I think they need to get back to the original menu concept, quality and service that made this place hopping for many years. This used to be a good restaurant with a bar attached and now it seems like a bar that serves bar food. What a complete disappointment. read more

Pronto was a go to for lunch for years. We hadn't been there for a while and our visit there this past week was so disappointing. Upon entering the restaurant it smelled dirty. Immediate turn off and it left me wondering when the last time there was a deep cleaning. The service was ok and not particularly attentive. The food was disappointing. A favorite for years, the Veggie Rueben, was not good: the avocado was bad, too much sauerkraut, and the bread was low quality. We shared the "house specialty" chicken tenders, and I don't think they were house made, rather they seemed to be frozen. Everything was uninspired. What a shame. read more

Absolutely terrible service!!! Slow! Slow! Slow ! This place has no atmosphere, but we decided to stay anyway, and not judge a book by its cover. The bathroom stall had no lock...real classy Ordered coffee, and the creamer was clumpy. I told the waitress and she just took the cup away. Didn't apologize, didn't offer to bring me anything else. After waiting an hour and 20min. for our simple order of fried eggs and toast, the waitress said " I don't know what's taking so long". She never refilled our water glasses or offered to bring us anything while we were waiting. So after another 15 min., we just left. We will NEVER return to this dump, EVER! I never leave this place thinking how good or great the food was, just how uncomfortable and slightly dirty I felt after eating here. The restaurant has an interesting array of foods, to be sure. The kitchen here is top tier. Food is always exceptional, timely, and warm. The fella back there who makes the salads simply makes the best salads. When they don't need to utilize his lettuce skills, they throw him on the fryer station. This man must just know the perfect time for any fried food out there because it always comes out perfectly cooked. You can almost taste the love that goes into it. The desserts? They will rock your 'effen socks off. The young lady who constructs those confectionary works of art is clearly an experienced chef and baker. It shows in every dish. The head chef who constructed the menu has obviously taken the time to consider and create a simple, yet unique menu that anyone could find a meal they enjoy. A wide range of appetizers, entrees, and desserts are offered with a fun twist. The food runners are always kind and efficient. Dropping the food off to the correct seat at the correct table with a smile on their face. They always tell you to have a great day/weekend upon their departure and really make you feel welcome. It's sad to see how far Pronto has fallen. I work at a business right down street. I thought this would be a good place for a lunch meeting. We walked in and there was no hostess, just a very frazzled woman answering phones and bringing carry out orders. We requested to sit outside. There were no diners outside at 1:00 pm on a Wednesday, that's a bad sign. We were seated and given menus by the counter person. We waiting for around 15 minutes without a server, or water, so I went back inside. The counter person was busy, so I guess she wasn't ignoring me on purpose, but she certainly didn't acknowledge my presence. I finally poked my head in the main dining room. The single server I saw, apologized for not coming outside sooner. I have to say he was great and took good care us afterward. But it's embarrassing for me to bring a colleague to a place and be ignored for so long. Please Pronto, up your game or at least change your name to something more reflexive of the speed of your service. Slow's is already taken. read more
