I tried Paradiso for the first time with my family last weekend. It was delicious!! I loved the atmosphere in the restaurant and the view from our table. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu and was able to give great recommendations and insight. I love how everything is made to order, nothing frozen! You could definitely tell from the quality of the food. The salad was a healthy helping and the cheese on it was fantastic. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and it was amazing. I had never tried it before and I can be quite picky with new foods but I enjoyed it! My family ordered a pizza and it looked great and they said it tasted great as well. First time and last time. Our waitress did not ask if this was our first time there..and it was...she did not explain the menu to us and did not offer any bread to us with our meal. How do I know this? I overheard another waitress speaking with the people at the table next to us. Our Sangria was definitely watered down...surprise! The salad was smothered with dressing and nearly choked on the bitter taste.... Not too bad. Was here for work and stopped by for dinner. It's a small location on the water. Was greeted by a very nice wait staff and seated promptly. The pre dinner garlic bread was very good. We had mozzarella cheese sticks which tasted good. One option on the menu I liked and took advantage of was a "build your own pasta" so I had linguini, meatballs & bacon spaghetti w / pan seared collards and beans. It was almost like a "bowl" from Chipotle. Was pretty good. Cute quaint spot. If I were to come back that way I'd stop by. read more

Finally a good Italian restaurant in Elizabeth City. 1) The service is top notch which is saying a lot for the area. Never an empty glass, never a stack of plates and the wait staff seem to know everything about the menu. 2) The pasta is ALWAYS made fresh. Fresh pasta is the best. The taste of the pasta is great. Also the sauce is always good no matter which one you get. 3) The pizza is DELICIOUS. The crust is perfect. They really take their time to make the dough here and it shows. I was looking for a place to have a small team holiday dinner and Paradiso was highly recommended by one of my team members whose wedding reception was at Paradisos. I reached out via FB to see if they had the space and a person responded within minutes asking to discuss our needs. Mind you, it was a Sunday morning and I wanted a reservation for a large party on Tuesday. Andrew asked all the right questions to ensure our evening was picture perfect. The team arrived and they had the room ready with our server (can't recall her name now)!who was amazing! She was organized and friendly. I know it's a pain to break up checks with a small group but a larger group is even worse PLUS I was paying for the first two rounds of drinks and appetizers which added another layer of complexity. She didn't miss a beat and we had no problem with our bills. The restaurant is beautiful with nice ambiance, especially being on the water. We were in our own room with a glass door that closed, which was nice because we were loud so it was nice having a door so not to disturb other diners. Food was AMAZING! The table ordered calamari, fried mozzarella cheese, and fried ravioli all of which were hits! Everything was well timed and delicious. Most of us ordered pasta, which is homemade and fantastic! We've heard the pizza is outstanding, so we will be heading back soon! Our amazing server checked on us often as did Andrew. They have a fantastic team coupled with delicious food and I highly recommend them if you're remotely close (I live in VA), it's worth the trip!!! read more

Over the last few years Paradiso has gotten better and better every time I've ate here! It has been a lot of fun watching this restaurant develop into the place it is today. We came here right after kayaking, since it is right next to the Pelican Marina. We sat outside and the view of the water alone made it worthwhile. Our waitress was very nice and helped us pick between two entrees when we couldn't decide (it all looked so good). Bathrooms were nice, cute and clean! It was a very short wait after we ordered each part of our meal. We started our meal with fried mozzarella, then we shared a chicken alfredo pizza, and canolis for dessert! YUM. Leftovers did not last long after we left! Plus, paper straws with our drinks! They have what looks like an oyster bank right along the outside of the outdoor eating area. Outstanding, come hungry because the portions are bigger than you would normally expect. Staff and owner are very friendly and provide great service. They also have a room over the outside eating area that is huge for large get-togethers. You can also see the water from most of the seating areas. This is the second time we've been disappointed with the food and that's unfortunate because it was one of our favorite spots in Elizabeth City. The lasagna had maybe a top and bottom layer of noodle but it was otherwise, just a bunch of ricotta cheese, ground beef and sauce. Without the multiple layers of noodles, it had the consistency of pudding. We also ordered bread but that was drenched in oil or butter so much that it was inedible. We then made the mistake of ordering fried mozzarella, instead of going with the one appetizer that is reliably great, their fried ravioli. The mozzarella was ok but over salted. read more

Stopped in for lunch with my wife to checking out the new place on the causeway. What a great location with great waterfront views. Nice place service was good, food was good, portion sizes decent and pricing was a little bit higher than I anticipated for a lunch menu but still not unreasonable. One negative thing I will say about the menu for lunch it could use some more items both seafood and non-seafood. All in all it was a decent visit look forward to getting in there some other time hopefully for dinner. read more

We have found a new Italian restaurant that is local and uses local food in their menu!! You can have your pasta made in front of your table in a cheese roll complete with a torch to heat it up and toss your pasta in... This place is awesome! Some of the best Italian food we've had in a very long time. Very fresh and homemade! Servers were the best and everyone very friendly. We liked that the atmosphere was homey and not fancy. For appetizers we had fried ravioli and fried mozzarella. Very generous portions and very tasty. Then we had lasagna and chicken parm. Both were very generous serving sizes! We took appetizers and meals home for a second meal! And, don't forget the tiramisu - wow! Obviously homemade and delicious! We stopped in Elizabeth City on our way to the OBX and needed a place for dinner. We tried getting into Montero's but it was a 45 minute wait for a party of six. On a hunch, I tried calling Paradiso and they didn't have a wait to seat us. It's a great location, right on the water and frankly everything about our dinner was fantastic. Donna was our server and she was as pleasant and friendly as could be. The menu was interesting and had a good amount of variety. I'm someone who chooses to judge a restaurant by their salads, especially a side salad. If the salads are fresh and thought is put into their execution, everything else is generally very good as well. Well, score another point for me on using that barometer for Paradiso. Their salads were very fresh and my Caesar salad was phenomenal. For entrees, we ordered a pizza, the skillet lasagna, the broiled flounder, the shrimp scampi and more. Everyone in our party raved about their food. What's more, the desserts were also top notch. Overall this was a great way to start our vacation and you should seriously give this place a try! read more

My daughter recommended and we were so happy!! Promptly seated at our reservation time, we had a great waterfront view and we watched the lit boat parade while waiting for our dinner. We started with the apple, goat cheese and cranberry salad, it was large enough for the three of us to share, delicious! Then our waiter brought us a basket of warm bread also very yummy. Then it was about 15 minutes before our entrees arrived. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with a side of meatballs. It was a perfect portion and very cheesy, the fresh pasta being homemade and the meatballs were the BEST I've ever had at a restaurant. The spaghetti sauce was equally superior. My daughter got the chicken parmigiana that was amazing. Then my sister got the linguine with meatballs and sauce, also fabulous. Our waiter was excellent, very attentive and friendly. To finish our amazing dinner we ordered the tiramisu to share...OMG it was so so good and quite a large portion. We left feeling full and looking forward to going back soon. The only suggestion I would have is just scrubbing down the tables, it was sticky and I think they need to be stripped down (being wood they're holding the odors)!
