Company holiday party catering at Atlanta Botanical Garden. Hors d'oeuvres -- seasonal soup shooters. This particular server was terrific!
    Daniel B.

On Yelp, two stars means, "Meh. I've experienced better." That pretty much sums up my feelings for Proof of the Pudding. This is a longtime and well-known Atlanta catering company. They've been in business since 1979. They catered our holiday party this year at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. My girlfriend and I as well as several of my coworkers and guests thought the food was average at best, especially when compared to the food we've had catered at other company events over the years. At the time of writing this review, Proof of the Pudding is one of only seven approved caterers for the Atlanta Botanical Garden (http://atlantabg.org/explore/private-rentals). Our holiday party took place inside the garden's Mershon Hall and attendance was about 90 people. We had our holiday party in the same location three years ago except the caterer was A Divine Event. The food was much better at that event (https://www.yelp.com/biz/a-divine-event-norcross?hrid=Ei4sv8eVsCyx8MgdvWRawQ). There was an open bar, cocktail hour, and a semi-self-serve dinner from four different food stations situated on the perimeter of the hall. Here's what we had: Cocktail hour (passed hors d'oeuvres): (Seasonal soup shooters) * Tomato bisque, grilled cheese bite * Butternut squash, cheddar popcorn bite * Chipotle shrimp, cheddar grit cake, raspberry essence Noodle and rice bar (attended): * Grilled shrimp and teriyaki chicken * Wok-fried eggplant, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, onions, snow peas * Soba noodle seaweed salad * Edamame salad (with fried wonton strips) Flatbread station (self-serve): * Kale Caesar salad, chickpea croutons * Traditional margherita flatbread * Prosciutto flatbread with fig, Statesboro bleu cheese, and arugula * Italian sausage flatbread with pears, sun-dried tomatoes, and provolone Slider station (self-serve): * Crispy turkey sliders with stuffing, caramelized onions, and port cranberry jam * Baby portobello mushroom sliders * Shaved beef sliders with Gorgonzola, rosemary plum tomatoes, and balsamic aioli * Housemade potato chips * Bread and butter pickles Dessert station (attended): * Coffee ice cream with two sauces and three sugars * Assorted donuts I tried everything listed above except for the chipotle shrimp (allergy), margherita flatbread, and baby portobello and shaved beef sliders. I thought both the tomato bisque and butternut squash soup shooters tasted good. However, the soup in both shooters was too thick to slide out of the shot glasses. Our server noticed this problem and tried to get spoons for us, but there were no spoons. This made eating the shooters awkward. One of my coworkers used a cocktail straw to loosen up the soup. In general, the food at dinner was disappointingly cold to lukewarm. The noodle and rice bar was the most lackluster station. While the presentation was nice - it was colorful and neatly arranged - the food just wasn't very good. While not terrible, the chicken and veggies were simply lacking in flavor. The flatbread and slider stations fared better. Again, the food looked nice, but everything seemed to be at room temp. I thought the kale Caesar salad and prosciutto and Italian sausage flatbreads were OK. The flatbreads were sliced into small triangles which I thought was appropriate for a spread that featured so many different items. I did enjoy the turkey slider. It was sort of like eating a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich except instead of chicken, it was turkey. I also liked how the slider came with stuffing and cranberry sauce. It was like eating Thanksgiving dinner in a sandwich. The best part was dessert. Two dozen various donuts were beautifully laid out and cut into small pieces. The coffee ice cream was served in mugs. The sauces were (I believe) white chocolate and caramel sauce with two types of green sugar and a red sugar. I was curious what the different sugars were and asked the dessert station attendant, but she didn't know. The other three dinner stations had labels for the food, but this one didn't. I topped my ice cream with caramel sauce and green sugar and had a donut with some sort of brown frosting/cream filling. They were delicious! Service was fine. One server in particular was very friendly and attentive. He's the one I took a picture of handing out soup shooters (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/proof-of-the-pudding-atlanta-7?select=iQXGXTIAMC8tLFCgLN93pQ&userid=j14WgRoU_-2ZE1aw1dXrJg). At one point during dinner, he noticed I didn't have a napkin and quickly got one for me before I could get up to grab it myself. That was nice.

Proof of the Pudding did an amazing job at the ACVB Hospitality Hall of Fame event in Savanna Hall at the Atlanta Zoo earlier this month. The food was outstanding! The courses came to the table, beautifully prepared, warm and were oh so tasty! It was probably the best industry-function seated meal I've ever had!!! The servers were organized and friendly and revealed the plates at the same time, so no one was waiting for their food....we all were served simultaneously. I can honestly say that I would highly recommend them for your catering needs!

    Veggie tray for breaks

I have to say, coming to a conference that was long established here in Atlanta and the price we pay for that conference, I was extremely disappointed in the food that was catered from Proof of the Pudding. To start the opening day breakfast was a plain cold biscuit or a sausage biscuit that was wrapped in gold tinfoil that I could have bought a better one at QT. Then for lunch we had salad, mango chicken and brisket with chimicurri sauce. Second day for breakfast we had grits or hard boiled eggs (kinda slimy) and then for lunch we had chicken and brisket (guessing leftovers from the day before) and dessert was Peach cobbler with the left over biscuits from yesterday morning as the crust on top. Finally we have break food and as you can see from the pictures the the fresh veggie tray does not look appetizing. If you are looking for a caterer in the Atlanta GA area, I would suggest looking somewhere else.

Great spot for a quick snack while at the Atlanta airport. Ready made sandwiches and beverages are on offer for when you need a quick bite.

Not bad for an airport food stand! The food was fresh. Grab the dipping sauce that comes with the wraps.

I moved into this office space on August 25th after paying $1,350 to get started. I was given two options: $600/month working directly through Mark (month-to-month), or $850/month through the office with a locked annual lease. I chose month-to-month for flexibility. From day one, things didn't add up. I was told my deposit would be used to refresh and paint my unit. That never happened. I had to pay out of pocket to make the space usable so I could even begin generating income. When I communicated that my October payment might be slightly delayed due to those unexpected expenses, Mark agreed. Shortly after, he went behind my back and told another tenant that if I didn't pay by Friday, he would put my belongings out. This directly contradicted our agreement and created unnecessary conflict. But it didn't stop there. In December, I discovered a mass in my breast and had to travel back and forth to Alabama for medical care. When I returned to Atlanta on January 4th after a 6-hour drive, I stopped by my office and fell asleep from exhaustion. The next morning, Mark asked to speak. We went upstairs, and during that conversation, he made a direct threat against my children. His exact words: "If I don't have my money by today, I'm going to lock your door so you don't have access and you can call your kids down here to get them killed if you want to. I'm a gangster." I immediately contacted the police. Nothing was done. At that point, I had no choice but to shut down my business and leave. I lost income, clients, and had to completely restart including reprinting all marketing materials tied to that address. Beyond my personal experience, the environment itself is deeply concerning: * People are living in these office spaces full-time without the owner's knowledge * Frequent domestic disturbances * Police activity and drug-related incidents * A reported shooting involving a child during a penthouse party that was never disclosed * Constant tenant turnover multiple people moving out at the same time This is not a professional business environment. It is unstable, unsafe, and poorly managed. There also appears to be serious internal mismanagement involving staff handling money and operations without transparency to the actual owner. If you are serious about your business even a little bit do not rent here. What looks like an opportunity will cost you more than money. It will cost you peace, safety, and progress.
