Ambiance: cute, modern, clean. Good place for brunch or business meet dinner Drinks: drinks were well crafted. Good flavor and decent alcohol pour. Food: not that many options and the flavor was okay. I needed to add salt and pepper. Didn't feel like expectations for DTLA dining Service: standard. Food came out fairly quick and it wasn't super busy

Located just outside the Conrad Hotel & across from the Disney Concert Hall, Massilia is a casual brasserie that feature an eclectic menu offering French, Spanish, Italian, & North African dishes. The restaurant recently relocated from Santa Monica to DTLA, so my co-workers and I took a break to check it out. The place is spacious and has a small little market area at the entrance. There is indoor & patio seating and plenty of spots at the bar. We were seated at a table facing the window so we could watch pedestrians and cars pass by. Our server was delightful and polite. We ordered a few dishes to share: Crispy Calamari, Fattoush Salad, Spaghetti Neri Alle Vongole, Mushroom & Ricotta Pizza, and Seared Cod. I also ordered the Massilia Spritz. It was a perfect refresher for a warm spring day. The food was flavorful and on point. We absolutely loved every dish and there was nothing left to take home. *Self-Parking $4 with validation. Valet $15 with validation.

Burrata Margherita Pizza and Salade Verte with Grilled Chicken

We were staying at the Conrad and thought this place would be a more casual option compared to San Laurel. Saw all the great reviews about this place back when it was in Santa Monica, so now that it's in DTLA, we went to give it a try. We came for early dinner and they sat us quickly since we had a reservation. The ambiance was nice and the room was lively. We had a very friendly server, but when he was pouring water he made a big spill on the table. We thought he would come back to wipe down the table since the table is small, which made the spill so much worse. Not sure if they were short staffed that day but we had to ask 3 different people before someone finally cleared the spill. In regards to food, I wholeheartedly agree with a lot of the 2/3 star reviews. I normally don't give below a 4 unless there's something really big to address, but we had one of the most disappointing meals in recent years. While the ingredients were fresh, the flavors were very underwhelming. We got a Burrata Margherita Pizza because we saw the positive review, but after a bite it was really hard to continue. The pizza was somewhat lukewarm since they put cold burrata on a warm pizza. It would've been nice if the burrata was also popped in the oven or alternatively, they could've cooked the pizza a bit more. The pizza didn't have that crisp you want. All that is to say it that we were pretty sure we could make a better one and when you're paying LA prices for food, it's not ideal. We also ordered the Salade Verte with Grilled Chicken. This was a little better than the pizza but it was just a simple salad. No garnish or anything. Super glad we got chicken otherwise it would've just been simple greens. Don't get me wrong, it was a fresh salad and very edible, but when you crave a Trader Joe's salad afterwards, that says something. The saving grace at this place was the White Pear Negroni. Props to the bartender. Had I not gotten this, the meal would have been a lot worse of an experience. This is definitely a drinks place. If you come here for just that, you're most likely good. I'm not sure if this experience is indicative of the restaurant as a whole since the opened not too long ago and I don't wish poorly on them. I do hope they address the food flavors. It seems that they have potential to be a good restaurant. Lastly, they really should put on the menu about the extra 4% charge. The reason they give is due to them being in the building close to all the hot spots. I don't mind paying the fee, but it felt wrong that they didn't disclose it ahead of time and just worked it into the receipt at the end.

Came for brunch today, so this review will be for that. Massilia is located just outside the Conrad hotel downtown, they offer valet for $15 (with validation) or self parking for $4 (with validation). The restaurant is such a vibe, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor is super open with a very modern vibe that I really liked. We had a larger party and our server was super friendly and accommodating, and all the other staff were quick to bring our food out and serve us. The ambiance and service were both great and standouts for the experience. Unfortunately the food was pretty mediocre, which was a bummer. I got the soft scrambled eggs with sourdough and while the eggs were well seasoned, they were overcooked to the point of being an omelette. The sourdough was also cold, I think it should've been lightly toasted. The salsa that was provided was also very bland, and probably could've been brought up to room temp (it was icy cold so it didn't complement the warm food). The blueberry buckwheat pancakes were also quite bland, and there definitely wasn't enough blueberry compote on them. The yogurt didn't complement the dish either, it would've benefited from some cream vs. the tang of the yogurt. The breakfast burrito was also pretty bland, and suffered the same issues with the salsa. Overall I think this place has a great vibe and solid service, but I don't think brunch is a strong suit. I'd certainly consider coming back for dinner, but won't be back for brunch.

Had a fantastic pre theater lunch at this gorgeous spot across from the theaters, with a beautiful interior, great shaded patio area, and a variety of delicious food options. We loved every bite and had the sweetest server who was attentive and friendly. Cannot wait to go back and make this my new routine whenever I have a show to see! Highly recommend everything we tried including the calamari, clam pasta, and steak frites!

Solid late night happy hour spot, everything we ordered was reasonably priced, pretty presentation and reasonably priced for DTLA. Recommend the steak frites, pizza and craft cocktail. Indoor/ outdoor seating and really nice, chill environment. Staff was friendly and brought everything out as it was ready.

This place is a high-end restaurant right across of the Walt Disney Center and across of the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. It is open now and hadn't been open for a while since it's brand new. The food is excellent. The service is quick authentic items on the menu. Check out the crispy artichokes and the various pizzas they have. The ambience is festive. This place is buzzing. It'll beat out all the restaurants and surrounding area.

I just left DTLA's newest "It Girl", Massilia. Great food, greater service and what ambiance! Wife had the Prosciutto Pizza and it was outstanding. I had the Tart Flambeu pizza and it was better than the the one I had in France, really it was. They have a full bar and I'll describe the vibe as California Cool. If going to the Disney Center, catching a show or the opera downtown you will not be disappointed stopping by here for a meal. Massilla is in the same block as the Conrad Hilton and there is a really cool gift shop attached to it. Go here and you will not be disappointed!!!

Had a great experience at Massilia. The space has a fun, breezy, swanky ambiance--très chic yet relaxed--making it a perfect spot for a night out in DTLA. The food was excellent. We especially loved the margherita pizza, fried artichokes, and the meatballs. Drinks were just as good--the Old Fashioned and the Sirraco were both fantastic. Délicieux! Service from Frances really stood out. He was incredibly hospitable, warm, and refreshingly unpretentious, which made the whole experience feel easy and welcoming--un service vraiment impeccable. It's also super convenient to both the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Walt Disney Concert Hall, making it the perfect place to grab dinner and drinks before the opera or a concert. On reviendra avec plaisir!

If you're looking for an escape from the DTLA hustle, Massilia is it. The design is stunning, high ceilings, incredible light, and a seamless indoor-outdoor flow that makes you feel like you've been transported to the Mediterranean. It is easily one of the most beautiful spots in the city, hitting that perfect "chic but welcoming" note. Whether you're there for the drinks or just to soak in the atmosphere, the energy is spot on. It's a gorgeous space that I'll definitely be returning to!

Came with a friend before a show at the Ahmanson. The 10 min walk is convenient from the Music Center garage. We sat in the patio where we could see the Music Center, kiddy corner from the Conrad Hotel where Massilia is located on the first floor. We had the Niçoise salad, Salade Verte and Wagyu burger. Delicious and fresh! However, my friend who has allergies had specified her Salade Verte dressing on the side. The dressing was in the salad, was too oily for her, and she returned it. Plus, she didn't like the lettuce - better description of the ingredients was needed on the menu. My Niçoise salad was fresh and fine, but the amount of tuna was small. My friend ordered the Wagyu burger, flagged the server 2 minutes later to have her sauce on the side, but guess it was too late or the server was too busy bc the burger came back with sauce in the burger, so back into the kitchen it went. My friend was not asked how she wanted her burger which we thought odd, but luckily it was well done the way she liked it. Skinny fries were generous. We ordered the sour dough bread, but it arrived at 2 slices with seeds which my friend couldn't eat, so they were returned by another server. Check your bill! I paid everything, then my friend saw that the sourdough bread $4 for 2 slices was not taken off the list. $4 was returned by another person at the bar on my InKind app, but I have yet to see it and was told to contact InKind if I don't. Join InKind to get 20% off the bill. Nice ambiance, good service but needs better instructions on the order about items on the side and how we'd like a burger cooked. Because of the convenience to the Music Center, nice patio, reasonable prices, and good food, we'll be back!

The menu is inviting with plenty of great options without being overwhelming. Less is more. But let's talk art (culinary, that is). The dishes certainly deserve main features. To start "the best Caesar salad in LA" and I quote which was certainly true. Grilled octopus charred on the inside and juicy at the center. Spicy pomodoro is perfectly al dente and a well-balanced sauce. But, my favorite-- the agnolotti! Wow, melt in your mouth! The flavor profiles of corn, crème fraiche, and old bay were delicious. My only wish -- larger serving of this (smallest pasta serving on the menu). To complete it, banana pudding tiramisu -- delicious too with a firm center and oozy outside. Atala was wonderful and very sweet. Recommendation: come with a group of at least 4 to try more on the menu -- the large plates (branzino and ribeye) looked excellent! Definitely a worthwhile visit.

Our waitress made some good recommendations so we decided to try a few items (family style). Everything was absolutely delicious! You really can't go wrong with any choices on the menu. Everything we cooked to perfection with a lot of flavor. Also, if you sit at the hightop bar, the kitchen is an open concept so you can watch the chefs cook and plate the food. As far as the drinks, I am not sure if they have a full bar but they do have a few selection of wine along with a small cocktail menu. I stuck with the cucumber basil (with tequila). Flavorful and refreshing. Street parking may be hard to find but they do have valet parking for $12. Overall, it's worth a visit. I look forward to dining here again.

Still stands-up to the hype after all these years…read more If "Trendy" was a restaurant, Bestia would easily be in top contention, even after being around for more than a decade. That says a lot. Once upon a time (a few years ago), my CFP + banking institution wanted to thank me for being one of their top private clients. They expressed their gratitude with a very generous, all expense paid full-course meal at Bestia. To say that I was impressed would be an understatement. Fast forward to now, I knew that coming back here would be a good idea. Make no mistake, even if you try to book a reservation several weeks in-advance, don't be surprised if the only available seats are at the counter. Granted, I was in a spacey table during my past visit, the counter can be an enjoyable & unintentionally entertaining space. It's great for a more casual vibe, as you get to see some of the kitchen workers put together some of their signature dishes. In many ways, Bestia seems like a microcosm of the city that it rather humbly resides within. What always catches me off-guard, is that the surrounding simple area really doesn't reflect the happening, vibrant, night-life that resides within the building's walls. You feel like you're taken so a different, very social, very bustling world. WINE: Podere 72, Poderi San Lazzaro (Marche region, central Italy) - 8.7 / 10 A very robust blend of Montepulciano & Sangiovese grapes that results in a balanced, medium bodied red wine that stands-up to heartiness of a beef ribeye steak. FOOD: Roasted Bone Marrow - 9.4/ 10 I have several friends that go here just for this particular dish. Funny enough, one can almost always tell that one is at Bestia because of the rather peculiar manner in which this dish is served. Hot, melted bone marrow is appropriately scooped out of the bone & poured onto spinach gnocchetti. It's like eating beef flavored mouth pillows of potato + spinach. It's definitely a dish that will impress whoever you are with. I can never resist ordering this whenever I am here. Oxtail alla Vaccinara - 8.9 / 10 The deep, rich maroon color of the rigatoni (thanks to beets) is a sight to behold. The pasta is firm but not too hard. It's a humble yet complex pasta dish that complements any main course. 26oz Margaret River Wagyu Ribeye - 9.4 / 10 Anybody who knows me knows that I love my ribeye. Any decent fancy restaurant does a ribeye. But no one does a ribeye quite like Bestia. The fermented mushroom cream delivers a punch of pungence not unlike a delectable dijon mustard, but to the highest of levels. This dish also makes me a believer in well-cooked onions served alongside steak. I usually like to take a home a portion of ribeye for later, but this is one of the very few instances when the steak is so good, that I can't help but finish it here. Again, the portion is more than enough to be shared. Fromage Blanc Mousse - 9.1 / 10 This seasonal dish hits all the right notes. It's the fanciest of cheesecakes, so I recommend sharing this. With its decadence, a little truly goes a long way & that's perfectly fine. The richness of the cheese is offset perfectly by the right balance of candied kumquats. A great "bite" to end on. Huge shout-out & thanks to Radu for being the nicest & most enthusiastic of servers. It's little things like him being so down to take pics of you with your party that really make me want to come back here. It the owners / management is reading this, please recognize how pivotal he is to your team. If he was working under me, I would most definitely give him a raise. Also, shout-out to Dani at the hostess stand. She is one of the most personable people. For being the first person that patrons see upon entering, she is the perfect face, attitude, & welcoming personality that the hospitality industry is in dire need of. She's a rockstar of a hostess & a pleasure to talk with. Bestia is a better place because of valuable employees like Radu & Dani. As always, come for the food. Come back for the service. I would definitely come back because of how amazing Radu & Dani are. Years after the hype, the vibe is still very much happening at Bestia.

The biggest disappointment was the service. Our server was unwilling to accommodate even simple requests. One friend in our group doesn't drink, and when we asked if her mocktail could be served in a cocktail glass so she could feel included, he simply said no. He also refused to make an espresso martini despite having the ingredients available. To make matters worse, one of our dishes never arrived. When we brought it up, the server responded, "I asked you if it came out and you said yes," instead of apologizing for the mistake. Afterward, he took the bill and appeared to be talking negatively about our table. For a restaurant with such a stellar reputation, I expected much better. This was actually my second visit. The first time, my husband and I stopped in for lunch and had a couple of items that were good, but I left feeling like maybe we just didn't order the right things. Since so many people seem to love this place, we decided to give it another shot. This time we came with a group of four and ordered a variety of dishes. We started with the octopus, tartare, and burrata appetizers. For pizzas, we had the Mortadella Pista and the Prosciutto with Truffle Oil Pista. We also ordered the Cacio e Pepe, mushroom risotto, and the Nutella dessert. The appetizers were okay, but the burrata was definitely the highlight. The pizzas were good and enjoyable, but nothing particularly memorable that would have me planning a return visit just for them. The Cacio e Pepe was decent, but the mushroom risotto was honestly the worst mushroom risotto I've ever had. It tasted like Campbell's cream of mushroom soup had been used as the base. The ambiance was nice, the service was good, and the drinks were enjoyable, but again, nothing felt especially memorable or exceptional. On a positive note, the prices were fair for what you get. Overall, I personally don't feel the need to come back. It's a perfectly fine meal, but with so many great dining options around, this just didn't stand out to me.

Everything we've tried has been excellent, and it's one of those rare restaurants where every dish feels like a hit. The Caesar salad is easily one of the best I've had. Every piece of lettuce is perfectly coated in dressing, the croutons are great, and the mountain of freshly grated cheese takes it over the top. The garlic bread is unreal. If you order the prawns, do yourself a favor and dip the bread into that buttery garlic sauce, spoon some extra sauce on top, and eat it while it's soaked. It's ridiculous. The Alla Vodka pasta is always a safe choice, rich and comforting without being too heavy. The lasagna came out with a beautifully crisp top straight from the oven and was packed with flavor. The potatoes were another surprise favorite--super crispy and served with a house-made aioli that made them impossible to stop eating. The chicken parm was excellent too: crispy, fresh, loaded with sauce, and exactly what you want from a classic Italian-American dish. The meal ended on a high note with complimentary limoncello shots from the house. For dessert, we had the tiramisu and panna cotta. The panna cotta had a subtle basil flavor that made it unique and memorable, while the tiramisu was honestly one of the best I've ever had--light, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Service was fantastic. The staff was friendly, funny, and genuinely welcoming. The funniest part of the night was that we accidentally booked a reservation at the Donna in New York instead of this restaurant. Even after our mistake, the host was incredibly kind and got us seated within about 15 minutes. One thing to note: pets are not allowed, except for service animals. Donna's has become one of my favorite spots. Great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I'll definitely keep coming back.

The Caesar salad was really good, and the branzino was honestly one of the best I've ever had - great presentation too. The kitchen staff in the back were some latino dudes but tbey clearly know what they're doing because the food tasted very authentic and well executed. I'm giving 3 stars for service because we waited way too long for our bottle of wine. When it finally came out, it wasn't the bottle I ordered, and our waitress Lauren insisted it was the same thing, which felt insulting because it was obviously not the same vintage - it was off by two years. At that point, I just wanted some wine already, so l let it go. That said, the ambiance was great, and the food alone makes this place worth visiting.

We stopped here on our way home from our honeymoon, and it turned out to be a great choice to end the trip on a high note. The service was genuinely excellent. We had a reservation for two, were warmly welcomed, and our server did an outstanding job throughout the evening. In Los Angeles, it can be hard to find places where the staff actually seems to enjoy what they do, and this was a refreshing exception. As for the food, it was a bit of a mixed experience. The margherita pizza was the one that disappointed me the most, mostly because I had high expectations. I love a good margherita, but this one had too much cheese and sauce and not enough basil, so it ended up tasting more like a plain cheese pizza, which is honestly my least favorite. That said, the crust was absolutely sensational. The meatballs were decent but could have used more salt. The desserts, however, were the highlight of the meal. When we mentioned it was our honeymoon, the staff surprised us with a complimentary olive oil cake, which was my first time trying one and it was wonderful. The fried dough with Nutella was also amazing. The desserts here are generous, well-made, and absolutely worth saving room for. Overall, a lovely experience with room for improvement on the savory side.

The experience did not disappoint -- it was beautiful from beginning to end. Our extraordinary server was James. He was engaging, attentive and unpretentious. His knowledge of the menu was impressive as he explained each section and item in a simplified way. After making our choices, he suggested changing one of our pasta selections since they all had heavy sauces. We accepted his recommendation of the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, which turned out to be everyone's favorite! The tomato-based sauce was light and perfectly spicy. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was amazing. The focaccia, oxtail meatballs and burrata with ham were a great start, showcasing the quality of the ingredients and thoughtful preparations -- they set the tone for our entire meal. The taste and texture of the freshly made pastas were unmistakable and so, so good with the wonderful sauces. The lamb chops were well-seasoned and cooked to perfection. I especially enjoyed the bed of sliced snow peas, green beans and English peas set over mint sauce. After all that, we had just enough room for shared desserts -- Budino and Tiramisu. Both were the perfect finish to a delicious meal. If you like chocolate, the Budino is for you -- rich but not overly sweet. Each yummy bite with the crumble topping was nicely balanced by the sprinkled salt. Service was impeccable and well-coordinated. We especially appreciated that dishes and utensils were changed after each course. A couple things to keep in mind: *Reservations - Via Resy. The reservation window is open 14 days at a time. *Parking - Valet is right in front. We found street parking just around the corner on Sunset (metered but free after 7pm). *Price Point - Approximately $100 per person. Mother Wolf is a cashless establishment. A 5% wellness fee is added to all checks. We will absolutely be back!
