We love Propel! Wonderful for babies and toddlers.

What a wonderful place for kids! We are taking an infant class and it's amazing. Everyone is so nice and very helpful. I highly recommend.

From being too scared to put her face in the water to jumping in happily and willingly even without goggles into 5 feet deep water!

Our boys love going to Propel Swim Academy. We've been attending for over a year now and it's wonderful to see them both progress.

We previously tried a different South Riding swim school and the convenience wasn't worth it so we went back to Sterling.

At the trial class my son did not want to leave my husband yet the instructor took him away and into the water. My son screamed the whole class. My husband should have gotten him away from this instructor earlier but by the time he did, it was too late. My son, who was never scared of water before, is now terrified of it. He refuses to go into any pool even with us. And best of all, aquatots wont refund us for the month we paid in advance even though we never used any of those classes we paid for. What we did was the "free trial." I hope i can update this with information that they refunded us, but the manager, Selange, refused to even talk to us on the phone.

We had a great experience while we were actually enrolled at Aqua-Tots, however, I put in our…read morenotice of withdrawing from the school at the beginning of March due to moving out of the area. I was billed for April, and inquired on our last swim class day about this, as our last class per the notice was 2 days past the billing date. They confirmed they had our notice, that it was received on March 9, and was told the withdrawal would be entered by the end of the week, and I would be refunded. I got a class reminder the following week, and called about our withdrawal and refund. I was told again that they had put notice and it would be done by end of week. Then came Easter, with no classes, but I glut a notification that my class was cancelled and a makeup was added to my account. I got another call about my class for this weekend being cancelled due to no instructor, and again told them that we moved, we withdrew from the class a month ago, and we are still waiting for the refunded billing. At this point, I am a few days away from being billed for another month for a service I CANNOT use because I don't live there anymore. I am usually a pretty easy going person, but this is ridiculous.

We've attended Big Blue in Chantilly on and off for several years, starting with the parent-and-me…read moreclasses for both of our children and progressing through multiple levels. Overall, we've had a positive experience and are grateful for the role Big Blue played in helping our kids become comfortable and confident in the water. One of the biggest advantages is the convenience. The lessons are structured efficiently, making it easy to get in and out without a huge time commitment. The app was also convenient with scheduling, rescheduling, and booking makeup classes. The instructors deserve a lot of credit. They consistently showed incredible patience, even with very young children and varying skill levels. We also had positive interactions with Brenden, the general manager, who was always friendly, helpful, and professional. The main reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5 is the class size ratio. After the baby classes, our experience was typically a 1:3 instructor-to-student ratio. We found our kids learned best when there were only two students in the class. With 3 children, lessons could sometimes feel crowded, and occasionally a disruptive child would impact the amount of instruction and practice time each swimmer received. That said, Big Blue provided a strong foundation for our children, and we're thankful for the experience. Our kids are now moving on to private lessons, but Big Blue helped them develop the comfort and confidence in the water needed to take that next step.

This is the third swim school we've tried in the area and it is by far the best. They take the time…read moreto actually help the kids improve, and each instructor is engaged and friendly with the kids. Another pro is that the kids get to stay in the water (on a ledge/seat) when they're waiting their turn - my son used to complain about being cold when he'd have to get out and wait his turn at the other places (even though it's 100 degrees in those pool areas! ). One suggestion for improvement is their online parent portal- it's gotten better since we've started going here but still could be easier to navigate.

For swim lessons, I would highly recommend Goldfish. My oldest started in the parent and me…read more(Mini-1) class and is now in their upper level swim team (called Swim Force). Along the way she has had some stand out instructors- some just really connected with her and she is now a better swimmer than I will ever be. The heated pool really helps especially at younger ages. She looks forward to every class. Now I've started with the youngest in the parent and me class, and she is already super comfortable in the water. Its not perfect- we've had a couple teachers who just didn't click along the way, but rescheduling to another class has been fairly easy as needed. Sometimes you get a sub who might not be as experienced, but its just one class. This has been outweighed by the other excellent instructors that my daughters have had. Management has also been very easy to work with and accommodating.

Today I took my daughter for a trial class. We recently went to the beach and also swam in a pool…read moreand I noticed she was a bit nervous about the water. She is 3. I will say the whole sign up process was easy and the front desk staff was very helpful. Our trial class was at 4:30pm. This started off hard because my daughter has never been in the water alone with anyone except me or her dad. There were two instructors and I did explain to both that my daughter was very afraid of the water. The instructor with brown hair was not great with kids and was not very social. When she got my daughter in the water the way that she swung her around made me super concerned for my daughter's neck. You just don't move a 3 year old around like that.. and the worst is she kept splashing water in my daughters eyes which ended up with my daughter hysterically crying and we had to leave 15 minutes into the lesson.

AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE!…read more I recently threw a birthday party here and it exceeded my expectations. You have the party room for 2 hours and then you can enjoy the other two hours in the pool. They made the whole process of checking in so much easier by asking for a list of the guests and checking them in. Make sure guests know they MUST wear a bathing suit to get in. Overall, we had a great stress-free birthday party! :)

I genuinely enjoy this facility and wanted to share some feedback regarding the current pool safety…read morepolicy, specifically the requirement that children under 48 inches remain within arm's length of a parent or guardian in the toddler pool area. While I appreciate the facility's commitment to safety, I believe this policy may benefit from review in certain circumstances. My five-year-old is slightly under 48 inches tall and is a capable swimmer but he was still given a yellow bracelet because of his height. During our recent visit, a staff member (she seemed to be the one in charge) told us about the arm's length requirement while my son was playing in the shallow toddler pool area, which only reaches ankle depth. I fully support close supervision requirements in deeper water or for infants and young toddlers. However, the current policy creates some practical challenges in the toddler pool area: 1. The shallow depth of the toddler pool presents minimal risk for older children who can swim. 2. Multiple parents attempting to maintain arm's length proximity in a confined space leads to congestion and difficulty navigating around one another. Which can make things even more difficult trying to keep an eye on your child and your child's constant movement when you have a parent in front of you trying to keep an eye on their child. 3. The policy becomes impossible to enforce when children use the toddler play structure and mini slides, where parents cannot physically maintain arm's length distance. Maybe some parents can fit going up the structure, but we certainly cannot fit going down the slide. We would have to go back down the steps of the play structure and then try to get to our child who most certainly is farther away from us because kids do not sit still. I believe a modified policy that considers both the child's swimming ability and the water depth would better serve families while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Perhaps children who demonstrate swimming competency could be permitted greater independence in ankle-deep water, while maintaining stricter supervision requirements in deeper areas.

My daughter attends this school for swimming and it has gone really well. She started at 5 months…read moreand has graduated to level 2 already! Now, the only gripe I have about the school is when they have subs for the normal swim teachers. I understand that life happens, but when the sub seems clueless to how the class is organized, it becomes frustrating. Not only for the babies, but also for the parents paying the school fee. I have seen it a few times where the parents are complaining about the class. The training could be a little cleaner or at least have a veteran teacher with someone who is new. Overall a great experience and will recommend the school to any babies or kids who need to learn swimming!

Signed up semi-private lessons for two of my kids last month. Two lessons a week, Thursdays and…read moreFridays. Billing period states June 27 to July 26. I decided to put the classes on hold after one billing period due to vacation plans. Gave them 30 days notice as requested. So there should be 10 lessons in total which ends today, July 26. My husband took kids to lesson yesterday July 25. He thought swim lessons has ended because instructor told him yesterday was the last session. I knew today's the last lesson at the back of my head because we have received only 9 sessions so far. I had to call them to ask why it was cancelled. No explanation given. They reinstated my session immediately. If you like this swim school, good for you. Pricing is competitive and kids have extracurricular activities. However I won't be signing up for another billing cycle due to their glitchy useless app for private classes, subpar lessons and overwhelmed instructors who take a few minutes off of each session. Below is more insight into my personal experience. Keep reading if you are interested. - I had the perfect disaster month of the year to sign up. June to July. Fourth of July fell on a Thursday this year. As a result, my Thursday session was cancelled. And they also cancelled Friday 7/5. No cancellation notifications received. We showed up for Friday lesson. Had to come back home. No makeup passes were issued - I had to call multiple times to schedule two makeup classes because they cannot schedule more than three days in advance for private lessons. I don't have any power in the app because I signed up for semi-private lessons. They have to do it from their end. Paid more money for zero convenience. Want app power? Go for regular classes that share time with three other kids. Your child will receive instructions for about 7 minutes per session and watch his/her classmates for 23 minutes. We see it as a complete waste of time. Upgrade to private classes and pay more. You will lose app control. We had a makeup class on a busy Wednesday evening. All swim lanes were occupied. My kids were pushed to the stairs near the exit and handicapped chair. My daughter kept hitting the chair everytime she comes out of water. This is the kind of treatment you will get here for paying more money for private classes. Messy management and the front desk has no idea what they are doing. My calls were always put on hold while they find out answers for me. Manager Gillian was only interested in selling the plan to us during first visit. No more interactions afterwards even though I see her behind the desk time to time. These 30 minutes lessons always end 3-4m early. No I do not appreciate that. Let kids stay in water for full 30 then discuss progress with parents after. Also I find instructors feedback are very generalized and not really helpful to parents. We worked with 3-4 different instructors over the past month. My kids favorite was coach Rachel but she often seem overworked. School has plenty of changing rooms so you don't have to worry in that department. Bathrooms are maintained clean. However, One swim dryer has been broken for the entire month we were there. They never fixed it. Overall this is a shady place that's not fully transparent with their operating practices. Also from my personal analysis there's a certain skill ceiling for kids here. They won't become swim experts because management is only trying to squeeze money out of your wallet for long run. Interest to kids progress comes second to them.
