This place absolutely met my expectations. The reviews are all correct. It's a clean, friendly, caring, non-judgmental environment. The staff are easy to work with, and the owners are around and available. It's really cool to see how this building was purposefully designed and functions as it is intended - it makes my designer heart happy. My daughter is five and loves going to swim school at Propel. It's probably the only time she actually focuses on getting ready to get out of the house. The facility is easy to get to, has plentiful parking, and is very clean. The staff is chill, personable, and very good with children. This business is one of the best in the area, everything from transparency, trust, quality, customer service, and community outreach. They are socially conscience and find ways to give back constantly. We have personally been going consistently once a week for a year now with no intentions of stopping. Our son started here at 3months and the leaps and bounds of improvements he has made as he has progressed through their classes has left us in pure amazement. He is like a natural born fish and the confidence he gained through the program has been wonderful to watch and experience especially since we grew and became better parents through being in the classes with him. The trust you can create and the bonding is immeasurable. Starting at Propel is one of the top things we have done with our son that I will never ever regret and will only continue to encourage others to go to this swim school above all others in the area. They have 3 separate warm water pools, so no one pool is ever crowded. The classes are kept intentionally small in order to provide the best teaching and attention to each of the students. It's so great to be able to just be able to walk in to a pool without holding your breath or the eye-squinting anticipation of trying to get into one of those cold pools at other places. The entire pool deck is pristine and clean, the worst clutter being the pool toys for the toddler classes, but those are up and out of the way. The chlorine levels are kept perfect, you never feel like you smell or taste it, there has never been any irritation to our skin or eyes... and we are in that pool weekly for at least 30mins to and hour at a time. We LOVE swimming here! Ms Linda is a beautiful person inside and out. Her patience and love just pour out of her like Niagara Falls, everyone is important and special to her. Pro-tip: 3-6month olds can join and swim for free here. Ms Linda thinks everyone should have access to swimming and I think I heard her once say that her goal is to drown-proof babies. When my son was three months, we started swim lessons at Propel! It was a great experience but I was dealing with PPD and getting to the class became a struggle and we stopped going. I didn't notify Propel or return their phone calls checking in, I basically ghosted them. Fast forward, my son turned 18 months and I put him on the waitlist because I knew there was no where else I'd want to go for his swim lessons. We got the green light that there was a spot and arriving to that first lesson, I was hesitant and slightly embarrassed from being non-responsive many months before. AMAZING experience!!! both of our children (3 and 5) have been going to Propel Swim Academy for about 1.5 years now, i have looked at a ton of options while choosing the right place for us, cant imagine ever going anywhere else. Parent/ kiddo classes, led by Ms Linda, was our all time family favorite, we recently switched to older class, our son struggled with a change, but we got incredible support from Nick - from offering strategic scenarios for all of us to work together to get our son through this period of time to being there for him every single class to personally make sure our son is in great mood and actually getting in the water (my husband says that Nick should be getting a Nobel prize for his exceptional skills with the kids - ability to quickly and efficiently figure out how to turn a crying mid-tantrum kid who wants nothing to do with water into a happy child that actually proceeds with all water exercises is true magic, in my mind). Our daughter is not the easiest swimmer either, and normally goes ankle deep into the pool... since we started going to Propel, we were able to get her to swim into the deep end of the pool on a noodle only (with parents supervision of course) which seems like a huge accomplishment from where we started. She's learning lots of techniques at Propel and (hopefully) is about to swim on her own! Both of our kids learnt basic safe technique in the pool at Propel (getting out of the pool, ability to figure out which way is the side of the pool, swimming in that direction, grabbing on someone if anybody is around), which makes me feel a lot more confident when we are at the pool together. Propel also does awesome Family Swim days, Water Pumpkin Patch (its a TON of fun!!!!), and Birthdays! Propel is a family owned swim school in the South riding neighborhood. Our daughter started at the center in March 2018 and still continues to learn swimming at the same. All the instructors and staff at the school are extremely professional and friendly. They maintain a clean and hygiene indoor environment which makes is more alluring for parents to enroll their kids. Their checklist style of swimming skills for each group is pretty simple yet informative to understand a child's progress and challenges. Our daughter loves her swim class and looks forward to it every week. Infact- I have enrolled myself for an adult class as well. Love this place! Propel is an amazing facility. Brand new stand alone building, always very clean, showers and changing areas and bathrooms are all located close together for ease of changing, hair dryers are provided (not the hand dryer kind, real hair dryers!). And above all, the swimming teachers are all dedicated to teaching in a positive manner to produce the absolute best results that are at your comfort level. Friendly, professional, and working with whatever your comfort level is. Nice and warm pools heated to around 90 degrees at all times. Our 6 year old daughter went from being too scared to put her face in the water for even a second, crying she was so scared- to fully submerging and diving down in 5 feet for diving rings happily. She is confident and excited about swimming for once. We tried many other places in the area, private and group lessons both, and Propel was the only one who could help her to be happy in the water. The class ratios are super low, and many times the other two or three students did not show- resulting in a one on one lesson for a group lesson rate . :) Crystal clear expectations for how our daughter is doing - you can check online anytime to see which skills are still required to pass to the next level. We previously tried a different South Riding swim school and the convenience wasn't worth it so we went back to Sterling. His progress at Propel, specifically in the last 6 weeks has been amazing. It's welcoming from the moment you walk in, and this stems from the incredible leadership of Ms. Linda and her son, Mr. Nick, to the entire Propel staff. We began private lessons with Mr. Nick a couple summers ago and followed him to Propel. He worked wonders with our eldest daughter who was quite fearful of learning to swim. My sons were both able to 'swim' (e.g., dog paddle), but at ages 11 & 14 realized that they wanted to improve, particularly for Scout activities. Linda & Nick met with us to discuss their goals, and made them comfortable, even though my sons are older than many other students. Our 4 yr old daughter has had an outstanding swimming experience over the past few months. We have been very pleased with her progress. She is very comfortable in the water and does not fear jumping in to full submersion. The instructors provided excellent group as well as one-on-one lessons, identifying weak ares and working to strengthen them.
