I recently started taking lessons after debating for a while about actually taking formal swim…read morelessons. I never took proper swim lessons and in all honesty I have a fear of the water if my feet aren't touching the ground. They have adult classes, the class I am in is small which is great as my instructor is able to sort of tailor teaching based on where each person is. So for example I can swim with a noodle where there might be someone else who can swim independently without a device, or there might be someone who is totally uncomfortable with the water. My instructor is understanding and not pushy at all which I love! There are changing areas for you to change into your swimsuit, also there are showers for you to rinse off before your swim, bonus they have a machine that will get some of the dripping wet off your suit. I'm only a few weeks in but have been really happy with my experience so far and would recommend to anyone who wants to perhaps learn to swim for the first time or someone who wants improve their skills. They also have plenty of classes for kids too but I'm just focusing on the adult learning.

I dove my open water certification for more than 10 years and thought that I knew a lot about…read morediving since I had more than 70 dives under my belt... boy was I wrong. I had no idea that I would have so much fun from the moment I accepted the Master Scuba Diver challenge (to receive the highest rating for recreational divers) back in early 2013. I have since doubled the # of dives in less than 2 years than I had completed during my first 10+ years of the sport! The staff, especially Drew have been extremely patient with me as I continue to build confidence from achieving each milestone along the way. Advanced Open Water was fun, but Rescue was even better! Working through all of those specialties were a lot of fun...thank you Drew! The rest of the friendly staff at Sterling Silver Scuba seem to know the answers to my 100's of questions along the way. The camping n diving weekends are a great way to unplug from a busy 8-8 schedule. You just can't beat 4-6 dives in a weekend while having awesome food, wonderful accommodations and of course all the stories and laughter that one could handle. Melissa has gotten the logistics down to a science. She and her staff works hard to provide everything that you need to be and stay successful in the sport so that you can enjoy yourself learning new skills in the water. Oh, and thank to Jason, I have watched movies while enjoying smores next to the campfire can't go unmentioned either... Bottom line: Great Staff- knowledgeable on all safety requirements, competitively priced trips, sell top of the line gear... what more could you ask for in a friendly family-oriented local dive shop?

I stopped by this past weekend to look at some fins. Grace is very, very knowledgeable and she was…read moreable to answer all my questions and more. She pointed out the trade-offs between various types of fins and fin straps. I was surprised there was so much to consider when buying fins. She also pointed out some other things about scuba (not about fins) that were very helpful. I also had some questions about regulators. My concern was that the hose I used at the OBX felt too short and was almost about to come out of my mouth so I had to hold the regulator in my mouth or bite down hard on the mouthpiece. She answered questions about that as well as concerns I had about water leaking into the mask. She pointed out many things to consider. In short, Grace is very knowledgeable. She definitely knows what she is doing. I hope Diventures is paying her well because she deserves it.

It's down a dirt road but im assuming, pretty new and everything is so clean. I prefer the classes over the actual gym and they have tons. They also have a pickleball court! It took me a minute to find a parking spot but again, lot of very big for the size of the facility. When checking in, there is no questioning for guests, which I liked. I didn't have to talk to anyone or fill out a form. I just got to go and do the classes. When walking thru the main level, there is a whole basketball court, pickleball court, child care, FULL locker rooms (that are huge). You go upstairs and huge weight training room and group fitness classes. I love Heidi's Barre classes. Everything is so clean, looks so nice and welcoming. The reason for 4 stars is the price of the membership. $170 seems silly.

Short version: Really happy with swim progress and child's…read moreteacher Tim. Included some info about amenities and helpful staff. Only reduced one star due to recently increased class size/reduced swim time (25 minutes for 4 kids is around 5 minutes in water), but can't complain due to how much my kids confidence in water has improved and glad she was able to be in smaller class while she improved then Long version: I really love this swim school-my kid who is not only shy but also a bit anxious about swimming grew so much here with the instructor Tim. Tim is incredibly patient and great with kids. We also did trial with a different instructor before committing and the staff were all so responsive and supportive. The kid my daughter was paired with has some behavioral issues but we manage. Recently two more kids were added to the class and so there isn't too much swim time for a 25-30 minute class-think my kid was in water twice for last class (think 25/4 is pretty much around 5 minutes in water). With that said, my kid now wants to practice swimming in bath-this would have been unheard of before. I think she isn't too far from learning how to swim all on own and it's been a few months-she's been practicing both on her belly and back and now perfecting some mechanics and increasing confidence even more. We are really proud and overall can't complain. For us, we noticed its same instructor every class unlike other reviewers so think Goldfish may have improved our experience based on some of reviews, which I see as a really good thing that they are willing to listen to feedback to improve. The pool seems heated and clean, also great space with showers/changing rooms/bathrooms/hair blowdrying stations/candies/goggles for sale in case you forget, etc. There's large waiting area for parents to watch swimming which is great with lifeguard. They also let you go in to watch your kids progress after every class and hear the teacher's feedback which is great.

Along the way she has had some stand out instructors- some just really connected with her and she is now a better swimmer than I will ever be. The heated pool really helps especially at younger ages. She looks forward to every class. Now I've started with the youngest in the parent and me class, and she is already super comfortable in the water. Its not perfect- we've had a couple teachers who just didn't click along the way, but rescheduling to another class has been fairly easy as needed. Sometimes you get a sub who might not be as experienced, but its just one class. This has been outweighed by the other excellent instructors that my daughters have had. Management has also been very easy to work with and accommodating.
