My husband and son showed up on Saturday (the day before Easter) as a walk-in attempting to get my son a haircut. I get it, it's busy, so they told them to wait about 45 mins. They waited a hour a half and still no one took them. My husband watched a man with 2 boys walk in and ask about walk-ins and was told they weren't accepting them only to watch one of the barbers run out and bring them back in to get both boys cuts. Even they didn't want to cut a 5-year old, then say so. Don't be disrespectful and completely ignore the fact that my son and his dad had been waiting for a long time. I get it, they're busy, we're just another number, but word of mouth is everything when it comes to business. read more

We scheduled an appointment in the morning and were told we can be seen at 12:30. They texted us at noon telling us they couldn't see us anymore because they double booked. Our bad, we didn't see the text so we showed up at 12:20. We were greeted at the door when we walked in and waited thinking we'd be seen once Cecilia was finished. We saw the text and asked if we could be seen after and were told no. It's no so much the fact that the barber double booked or the short cancellation time but the fact that we were greeted and allowed to wait half an hour and you knowing well you were not going to help us. First time visit and the layout is clean and in order. Staff is friendly and engaging in a good way you can tell they care about their customers. If I was rating strictly on this I would give 5 stars! If you want a good atmosphere with great people this is the place. BUT.... This is an overall review and price a major factor, I don't get anything special just a basic cut nothing over the top. When they told me it was $25 that is way too expensive in my opinion. It's not like they are doing anything above and beyond or I'm there longer than any other place mom and pop barber shop. I should have asked before I sat down so that is my fault. Still they did the job so I had to pay the price. As much as I like this spot and it's convenient I will not be returning, $25 is just too much I usually pay $10-$12 max again I don't get anything special. I understand we are in a pandemic but that goes for everyone business and customers, supply and demand also plays a role. In the mean time I'll keep searching for my price range. After going to this barber shop since 2020 and supporting them through the Pandemic, I am utterly disappointed and disgusted at the interaction I had with them today. After making an appointment, Tim realized he would be cutting my son's hair and was visibly upset. After several minutes on the phone, I was advised that my son who struggles with hair cuts, due to his Autism diagnosis, would not be able to get a hair cut. The reason that I was given was that it was a risk to have him. I spoke with Angel who is the owner of the shop. I could not have had a more unprofessional conversation with him - who did not have facts, kept interjecting while I was trying to make a complaint, and then made the barbers and the shop a victim of the situation. Angel is aware of who my son is and how he can struggles. Moreover, my son does not struggle with a haircut each time he is there. We have been there without incident. During my call with him, there were points that I had to provide about how we are trying to overcome certain challenges that I truly did not have to provide. You do not go to a place as a consumer and explain anything about your blood sugar levels, mental health or other. That information is protected and not even necessary to provide good business. Bottom line - I was really disappointed with the fact that some of the barbers, as parents, bring their children to the shop yet were not willing to provide the patience I give to their children the same patience to my child. My son left so sad. The demeanor that Tim had was so disgusting when he saw my child. I hope no one ever treats his children with the same attitude he shared with mine today. There was no grace. My son asked me after walking out the door, "They don't like me?" Allegedly, I was spoken to about my son by a barber, which was a total lie. Like I said, I have been coming here for two years. Angel was useless and did not seem to grasp the nature of my complaint and his responsibility as a business owner. Bottom line: dissatisfied customer due to this location which does not provide disability accommodations and the denial of service due to a disability. So I have been going to this barber for several years. It use to be called "Friendly Barber" then it was sold to a young guy who seems to have his goals in order. I'm here several times a month. My barber is Robert and Ive been using Robert for many years even before he got to this location. Always able to get an appointment if needed but one thing was for sure, Robert would be there every single morning to open the doors. On the occasion he wasn't there, the place opened late. Today I got a call from Robert saying he got let go. The reasoning to do this makes zero sense other than the place just wants young tatted up barbers and no old dogs. Well that's dumb. I don't post things on yelp at all so this is a first. When a place like this chooses to let go of talent I just have to let them know how I feel. You won't get my family's business one more moment. I originally scheduled my appointment at 3 with Chris but my schedule was compromised so I had to reschedule for 6. When I showed up I was greeted with a cold beverage which is great especially in this heat lately. A/C and a cold drink? Who's better than you? I had gone to about 5 different barbers in the inland empire area when I originally got my hair cut by Chris. I loved it the first time and so did my Wife. When we began this second haircut he asked his coworkers Brandon and Tim (who were client-less at the moment) for some tips on how to make the cut even cleaner. For him to ask for advice when I blindly thought he was flawless shows the craftsmanship that goes on at Proper Barbershop. With Chris's smooth wrists and Tim's guidance they perfected my haircut. I felt like my hair was part of a science project or something. All they were missing were lab coats while we conducted a chemical reaction with my long, thick hair and their experienced hands. All I know is we're definitely getting an A+. It was almost like I was a cosmetology doll slowly gaining consciousness as my haircut progressed and looked crispier and when it was done I was going to stand up and find out what 'Love' means. At parts it felt like three experienced war generals were watching over my head picking out perfect routes through the rough terrain which is my thick hair. To be honest it was like I was this rare experimental government shrub that was being cut with high class shears. I guess I'm rambling but in other words Chris got that Heater in thee wrist and Big ShoutOut to Tim and Brandon.
