One star but should have been 0. For starters, this review is long long overdue. My gf was suppose to write a review but didn't get around to it so here we are. I had my hair cut here last December. My gf wanted to take me somewhere that specialized in cutting men's hair(specifically longer hair). She had done her research and came across this place. I had very long hair as shown in the pictures. We walked in during November and set up an appointment with them. My gf asked if they had anyone who specialized in cutting long hair on men. The receptionist set us up a month out with a female that could do it without a problem. I wish I could remember who we were originally booked with but I'll tell you where it went wrong later on in the review. So come a month later, it's time for my appointment. My appointment was set for Tuesday Dec. 22nd 2023. My gf dropped me off bright and early before they opened. She had another appointment elsewhere, but was going to pick me up and pay. So I walk in and check in with the receptionist. I sat down waiting for my name to be called. Now I don't usually like to name drop, but I will in this review because it's important for people to know so they're aware. This guy named Anthony steps out from the back and calls my name. I was a little confused because I know I was booked with a female. For insight, I typically let my hair grow and before I grew it out, I would just buzz it myself. So while heading back I was thinking to myself, well this is a nice establishment so they all must know how to cut men's hair. Boyyyy was I wrong and had my gf been there, she would have spoken her mind. I sat down in the chair and I'm showing Anthony pictures of the type of haircut I'd like done. He agrees and nods and I'm thinking we're all set to go. I wanted my hair cut right above shoulder length with some layers to it. So we make small talk during the haircut. Everything seems fine. Every so often he attempts to show me what it looks like. Now you can only see so much from sitting in the chair. Even by holding up a small handheld mirror I can't see the whole thing very well. Fast forward to the finish line. He finishes with my side burns and I say it looks pretty good. I go to sit down and wait for my gf to pick me up. So she comes in, pays for the cut, and we head out. Once she got behind me and looked at the back of my head she was very upset. And for a good reason! We were inside her car in the parking lot and she was begging me to go back inside and have them fix it. It's important to point out the haircut and tip was well over $100. Anthony did not know what he was doing. I was ashamed of the haircut but I'm not ashamed to say he missed the mark completely. I'm too shy of a person that I couldn't go back inside. I really had to fight my gf on it. I'll say it....Anthony had me looking like Lord Farquaad. I don't know how you start with long hair and end up with a bowl cut? Anyway, we drove off but she ended up calling this place back and wanted to speak to the manager. The manager never called us back. I remember this day like it was yesterday. I just hope this hasn't happened to anyone else. Be careful if you're male and have long hair and wish to have it cut here. We compromised later on to fix this situation. We went to where her dad gets his hair cut and they layered me up real nice. The day started horribly but ended on a good note. No thanks to this salon. I attached photos of what I had starting off and what it ended up looking like lol. This experience was terrible here. I'm accountable for not speaking up when Anthony called me back for my appointment. They're accountable for switching the person I booked with but not telling me anything had changed. Also, failing to return our call is a negative note. Frankly, shame on his coworkers for turning a blind eye after this haircut was finished. There's no way they saw me walking out and thought "yeah that dude looks sharp!" Lol. But with kindness, I hope they coached him up after my cut. Hopefully for Anthony's sake I'm his worst. Others would have been much more upset and would have asked for a refund/fix. I don't even know if he works there anymore but it's hard to forget who my barber was when he's got the same name as me haha. read more

This isn't a review of the Hammer & Nails in Rancho Cucamonga. This is a review of my barber Hannah Gray at the Hammer & Nails Rancho Cucamonga. After 30 years of cutting my own hair with 5 different generations of Wahl Clippers, I decided that I wanted a completely different look for my hair. I knew that I couldn't do it and would need a professional to help fix the mess of the mop head that I've become. The criteria in a barber I was looking for was... Had to be close to my work. Had to have great customer service. Had to be uber easy to communicate with, and had to have some imagination when it comes to cutting my hair. This is when I found Hannah. You know that feeling of "Love at first sight"....yeah I felt it. From the time she greeted me, to all the inquisitive questions she had on as to what I wanted to accomplish, to the drink she offered me....she was amazing!!! But best of all, when she looked at my monkey looking face and messed up hair, she didn't hesitate. She just hunkered down and started cutting away. She was purposeful, she was determined, and she had a plan. And I just let her have her way. She was exactly what I needed. Fast forward to July 2022, my hair has now grown in the places it needed to. I get more compliments now than I ever had in that last 20 years. And most importantly, I look less like a monkey...I'm now a FRESH ASS MONKEY!! So if you're asking the questions, Is Hannah super cool? YES. Is Hannah a true professional? YES. Can Hannah cut hair? I don't know how us asking if they can use "ALL SCISSORS" was a miscommunication. This was our second attempt at booking an appointment because they cancelled on us the first time... short staffed, understandable. We called for another appointment and asked the same thing, "Is there someone who can do ALL SCISSORS hair cut for men?" They said yes and we were scheduled for Saturday at 11:30AM. We arrived at 11:26AM and my husband was welcomed and seated by the person who was going to use ALL SCISSORS to cut his hair. He was suppose to get a hair wash and then hair cut, but another customer came in (needing eyebrow waxing) and was prioritized. We were on time, so why was someone who was late prioritized? The manager/owner told another employee to cut my husband's hair. My Husband asked the new person if he could do "ALL SCISSORS" because when we called to make an appointment that is what they scheduled us for. My husband showed him pictures of his hair cuts with previous hair stylists who used ALL SCISSORS. The new person said YES, and didn't even wash my husband's hair like he was supposed to. He just sprayed his hair and started to SHAVE his head with and ELECTRIC HAIR TRIMMER. I immediately got up and asked if he knew how to cut hair with SCISSORS. And the guy said yes... he took a tuff of hair on the top of my husband's head and cut only that and went back to SHAVING!!! He then started to use the ELECTRIC HAIR TRIMMER on the top of my husband's head. I put a stop to it. I don't know how us asking if they can use "ALL SCISSORS" was a miscommunication. My buddy and I scheduled an appointment after talking about this place for about a year. Creating an online appointment was quick and easy. When I arrived for my appointment I was greeted with a warm smile and was offered a cold drink. My buddy and I were given a quick tour and all our questions were answered. I've never had a pedicure or manicure before and I was a little apprehensive about it. But the environment made it easy to relax. Stephanie did a FANTASTIC job and made the whole experience relaxing and very enjoyable. She explained everything she was doing, asked me my preferences during the service. She is the best. I hope one day the city names a street after her! I came into the place thinking this was going to be a one time treat, but you'll probably see me here at least once a month. I've been getting pedicures here for a couple months now. I've joined their subscription club which I'm still weighing the benefits of. I have the same lady each time, I believe it's Stephanie. She's very polite. I was used to sitting in the typical nail salon chairs with the jet foot tubs and all. The setup here is a soft chair and they bring a plastic tub out and fill it with water. Although they do have 3-4 traditional chairs in the same room but I never see those being used; I tend to go when it's slow though. The massage part is ok. I've had ones that are longer but I'm not that big of a stickler about it. The lady massages feet and calves a bit and it's fine. The price for a premium pedicure seems a little high compared to some shops my wife would take me to in the past. I plan to go a few more times and decide whether or not to stay. The place is in a convenient location for me and the times I prefer are usually available so that's a plus. read more

After seeing their Facebook ads consistently and becoming curious about their service, I decided to give it a try today. I was greeted by a staff member and she was really courteous. I also got a tour of the shop for being a first time customer. The ambience was great and the staff were really friendly. However, my haircut was the total opposite. It was not what I expected it to be, even after precisely directing the staff member on what exactly I want done, showing old haircut photos for reference and telling them not to cut too short on certain parts. I believe that it was mostly a misunderstanding, but I did not like the output at all. I got home, and people already saw the big difference with my haircut. It was not properly faded, and the fade was just not done with precision. For $40, I felt robbed, to be honest. The barber was really nice, but I'm not happy with my cut. Also, there was no drink served though they say it's a part of my package. Not a biggie for me but to some, it might. I'm not one who complains about service, but this was not the output I was expecting at all. This would probably make the list of the worst cuts I've received. Another barber before this visit has messed up the line a bit, but it does not affect how it was supposed to be faded, and the output in general. I still ended up signing up for their club and I'm planning on them another chance, but I'm hoping that it's not a repeat of this. read more
