I also ordered a lychee martini, which was amazing. It had the perfect balance of flavor without being overly sweet, making it easy to enjoy alongside the meal. For appetizers, I tried the crab appetizer with the beignets. The combination was a bit of an acquired taste in my opinion, but the beignets themselves were perfectly cooked--light, crispy, and fresh. The steak appetizer was also very good and a solid choice to start the meal. A special shoutout to the bartender, who was fantastic. Since it was my first time visiting, I had quite a few questions, and he took the time to walk me through the menu in detail. He explained the dishes, ingredients, and flavors thoroughly and gave excellent recommendations based on what I was looking for. His suggestions were spot on and definitely elevated the experience. The only miss for me was the pound cake dessert. It wasn't what I expected from a traditional pound cake. It had a green color and a flavor profile that just wasn't for me. If you're expecting a classic buttery pound cake, this may not be it. That said, the food, drinks, and service were all memorable, and I can definitely see why Poor Calvin's is such a popular Atlanta restaurant. I'd absolutely return to explore more of the menu.

Starting with the service, it was honestly amazing from the door to the table to the bar. Everyone I came in contact with was very hospitable and made our experience great. However, the food was underwhelming. We ordered every single appetizer that our server suggested. I will give them. The appetizers are good with notable mentions for the tuna spoons, the oxtail, spring rolls, and the dumplings. The entrées, though were not my favorite. The filet mignon is more of a beef and broccoli situation and although we knew that it easily gave me a higher end mall Chinese food. The fried rice was extremely dry. We had the lobster and the shrimp. The lobster fried rice had little tomato no lobster in it and for the price it was disappointing. We also got chicken lo mein which probably was the best entrée we had. I will say the drinks are amazing if I had to choose I would probably go back and just get drinks and appetizers. One note for the restaurant, we had the spare ribs which were extremely red on the inside and had a very tangy taste, and unfortunately everyone at my table that had it the next day was running to the restroom. That was the only common denominator we could find. Our food did come out in a timely manner however, some of it was lukewarm, it gives they may make them in batch and bring them out. They came out before our drink. It is very aesthetically pleasing in here. I will give them that. We went on a Friday night and the music was amazing. Good R&B hits!

I finally had the chance to check out Lo Kee for some Asian fusion cuisine, and overall, it was a…read moresolid dining experience with a few standout moments along the way. One thing that immediately stood out was the service. Our waitress, Ashara, was incredibly personable and brought a lot of positive energy to the table. Sometimes a great server can elevate an entire meal, and she definitely helped make the experience more enjoyable. I will say that visiting during the day gave me a very different impression than what I expected based on all the dinner-time highlight videos I've seen online. The space is still nice, but it felt much more relaxed and understated during lunch service than the vibrant atmosphere I had imagined. We started with the wonton soup (6/10), which was exactly what I wanted it to be. The dumplings were tender, the broth was comforting, and it reminded me of the kind of wonton soup you'd happily order from a favorite local Asian restaurant. Nothing groundbreaking, but a solid and satisfying start. Next were the short rib bao buns (4/10). This appetizer comes with three pieces and was probably the most interesting dish we ordered. The short rib itself was very tender, but the overall flavor profile leaned sweeter than I expected. The addition of apple brought a nice textural contrast, but it also pushed the sweetness even further. I found myself wishing for a little spice or acidity to help balance everything out. It was a decent starter for the table, but not something I'd rush back for. For drinks, we tried the yuzu margarita and the lychee martini. The yuzu margarita (8/10) was bright and refreshing, while the lychee martini (7/10) was surprisingly unique. Made with coconut cream, it had a rich, almost milkshake-like quality that made it feel very different from the typical lychee martinis I've had before. Definitely an interesting and enjoyable drink. For entrées, I opted for the sea bass (7/10), which ended up being a nice choice given how many of the other menu items leaned heavier. The fish was cooked well and stayed light and delicate throughout. The bok choy wasn't particularly seasoned on its own, but it paired nicely with the sea bass and helped keep the dish balanced. We also ordered the filet mignon with broccoli (8/10), and honestly, this was one of the stronger plates of the meal. It sounds simple on paper, but the quality of the beef really elevated the dish. The steak was cooked beautifully and practically melted in your mouth. Paired with the broccoli, which added some welcome texture, it created a really complete and satisfying bite. The shrimp fried rice (5/10) was exactly what I'd call a standard fried rice. It was good, but there wasn't anything particularly memorable or compelling about it compared to the other dishes on the table. We wrapped up with The Milk Man (6/10), which is Lo Kee's deconstructed cheesecake. The presentation was creative and the flavors were enjoyable, but it wasn't the kind of dessert that lingered in my mind after the meal. A fun concept and well executed, just not the most memorable finish. Overall, Lo Kee delivered a pleasant dining experience with great service, a few strong dishes, and some interesting takes on familiar flavors. While not everything completely wowed me, there was enough to enjoy that I'd be open to coming back, especially to see how the dinner experience compares to the daytime atmosphere.

The restaurant is beautiful, red velvet curtains, baroque flowered wallpaper. The service was excellent. They have a very nice wine, cocktail, and mocktail list. I had the purple rain, light and bubbly. My friend enjoyed her gingery King's Ransom. The menu is Chinese and Asian fusion, and a short list of sushi. Chinese is always meant to be shared. We had the miso truffle salmon and each of the steam buns to start. I thought the salmon was very good, I do not normally like capers, but liked the way they prepared them. The katsu was probably the best of the buns, nicely crispy. The tofu was good a well, with a nice kick, the young one in our group found it too spicy. I would not order the short rib again, it was fine, but I've had much better short rib. We then had the chicken satay, roti canai, and the miso cod. The chicken satay had good flavor, and paired well with the peanut sauce and pickles. I did find it a bit too fatty. The miso cod was perfectly cooked, and the flavor was just right. Note that it is a very small portion. The best dish was the roti, a yellow curry with chicken and veggies with two flaky peice of roti. So good. The star of the meal though was the mango sticky rice, with sorbet and small bits of mochi. This is one of the best versions I've ever had. Do not miss this dessert! The issue I had with our visit is we, a group of three, were seated by the door, which was also near the kitchen door. The seating felt cramped, and every few minutes one of the doors was slamming, which made it a less pleasant experience. There were also several other tables open that we could have been seated at instead.

I ordered the Shandong braised chicken, a dish presented with its protein resting atop a glossy sauce and a generous scattering... ten or more pieces of accompanying dough. In theory, this bread should serve as both sponge and companion, absorbing the depth of the braise and rounding the dish into comfort. In practice, it was profoundly compromised. The dough was unmistakably moldy, visibly, undeniably so. This alone is alarming in any dining establishment; it signals a breakdown not just in execution, but in fundamental kitchen vigilance. More troubling than the oversight itself was the response. When the issue was brought to the attention of the waiter, the reaction suggested familiarity rather than concern as though such an occurrence fell within the realm of the expected. There was no urgency, no visible embarrassment, no effort to meaningfully rectify the moment. The tone felt faintly dismissive. The effect on the room was immediate: the couple seated ahead of us, having witnessed the exchange, opted against ordering an entrée at all. That, in itself, speaks volumes. There were, however, redeeming elements. The spicy beef was well-prepared, delivering heat with balance rather than bravado. The diced potatoes were excellent, crisp at the edges, tender within, and seasoned with confidence. These dishes hinted at a kitchen capable of competence, even finesse, when fundamentals align. The atmosphere added an unexpected layer. Spa music drifted through the dining room an odd choice for a meal that aims to be bold and hearty, creating a tonal dissonance that never quite resolved. Service hovered in the realm of "acceptable," buoyed largely by polite refrains of "yes sir" and "no ma'am," though these formalities felt more like compensation for a lack of true attentiveness than genuine hospitality. I would not go so far as to discourage anyone from dining here. There is promise, and there are flashes of real quality. But I would offer this advice plainly and without drama: inspect your food carefully. Mold has no place on the plate, and until that reality is treated with the seriousness it demands, the experience remains compromised no matter how good the potatoes may be.
