I don't doubt that Cafe Lucia was once a great place to catch a coffee break or quick breakfast/lunch. I'm in the area and it seems like this spot is really struggling. They've been desperately hiring the past few weeks and seem to be sucking at employee retention. You will probably run into a drugged out homeless person while patronizing this business. The inside is charming but in a grunge way. There's potential but it's just not hitting it these days. They didn't have any of their listed non-dairy milk options nor any bread except for naan (and no bread the second day I came). I've gone in often and they've run out of inventory with no timeline of replenishing. I was able to get a B.E.C. sandwich ONCE in the handful of times I've been here. It was decent and fairly priced, but unavailable the following visits I made. At some point I had to have a sandwich made with no bread because they were out. That was my last time there. Most of the baristas appear to hate working here or simply being on the planet lol. My last visit I was looped into an unwarranted political conversation when just trying to grab a coffee. I get that it's near a college campus so EVERYTHING is made unnecessarily political these days unfortunately, but maybe they should coach their folks to not engage unsuspecting customers in these conversations... literally just prioritize the JOB and the BUSINESS and the customer experience. I don't need or want a lecture on how unbearable you think our country is when I'm just trying to get a drink. It's a horrible business practice to assume ~anyone's~ social/political leaning and I hope we as a society can collectively move into a space where we stop normalizing this behavior. Yikes! Walked in to Lucia, to find the manager and two newly former employees having a confrontation. Two newly hired employees were put in an awkward position. I just wanted an Americano and a bagel. Newly hired employee was not aware how to make it, so manager in between confrontation tells him to mix, what was an already pull shot w hot water. I passed on the bagel. Post confrontation manager has walked in and out of Lucia multiple times(smoke and beverage breaks), leaving the newly hired guys to seemingly fend for themselves. Save your money and go to Thousand Hills around the corner. This place was frankly disgusting. Very dirty and disorganized. When I walked in the barista was smoking out front and I had to wait for my order to be taken because of this. I ordered an iced latte and the barista stuffed the ice in the cup WITH HIS HANDS THAT HE DID NOT WASH AFTER SMOKING. Then when I paid they did not give me the option to tip and were going to press the button that added one until I stayed and watched so that the tip was not added for me by the barista. Really cute spot with such a cozy, welcoming vibe. The coffee was delicious, but what really stood out was the customer service. I'm very particular about sweetness and usually get frustrated when I ask for less sweet and it still comes out sugary. Not here. The barista actually listened, he added 1.5 pumps, had me taste it before I even left, and made sure it was exactly how I wanted it. That level of care is rare and so appreciated. One of the best coffee spots for any GSU students. It's on the outer edge of campus and has a little bit of seating. The staff is very friendly and has great vibes. The coffee is worth the wait as they take their time between orders. It's a small shop so be appreciative for them! read more

The owner is a rich dude with a lot of money who doesn't care about what comes and goes. As long as he makes a profit. He sells sells sells, but is lazy about his inventory. And the maintenance of the building is weird. It's a crap shot when it's gonna be open. Not sure if I like coming here anymore. The vibes are not the same. Such a cute cafe! I was looking for a place to work for a few hours prior to a special event and landed on Cafe Lucia. It's a small coffee shop with comfortable seating and it was far roomier than expected. When I first arrived there was only couch seating available and although I was dreaming of a table, I took the spot that I could and kept pushing. Once I got comfy I decided to place my order and get to work. The register/prep area was super cute and covered in art and stickers. The menu was clearly displayed and they even had a special board highlighting the seasonal specials. I rarely drink coffee these days and was happy to see their line up tea options for any future visits. There were so many great options! I began with an iced coffee (because it was so hot outside!) and a turkey pesto sandwich on a croissant + bacon. I don't like to be dramatic (jk) but this was a top 10 sandwich. The bread was incredible, there was tons of bacon and turkey, and it was just incredibly flavorful. My coffee was smooth and not incredibly sweet, just what I needed to kickstart my tasks. The team was also quite wonderful! It was a chill day in there but they were patient, helpful when I had questions about the menu and my order was fantastic. Once I got my coffee, a table became available and I quickly snatched it up and got comfy as I waited on my sandwich. I loved that there were outlets all over, including a few under my table. Wifi was strong and easy to access, essential for remote work. The only bummer about this cafe is the bathroom situation. The experience with the cafe was 5-stars but the restrooms had me hesitate just a bit when rating, but they can't help the layout of that building! Note that Cafe Lucia is housed in is an amazing historical building that was opened in 1914. So to expect them to have an ensuite bathroom may have been silly on my part, lol. But when I did find myself needing to go, the team member at the front gave me the key and directions to find the ladies room. They even watched my items for me while I went. Now, I did not expect the journey that laid in front of me, lol. I wish I would have listened closer to the directions, but they seemed so simple! (Spoiler alert: They were not.) I got down the stairs as instructed but from there, it was my best guess. The area was a garage-like vibe but there were 3 or 4 people sitting down there talking or resting, so at least it wasn't terribly creepy. Would I spend more than 10 minutes down there alone? Absolutely not. After looking goofy and lost for another minute or so, I stumbled upon the bathroom and saw it had a locked door and figured I was in the right place. It was pretty clean despite being in the dungeon, lol. Seriously a wonderful experience all around and next time I'll know how to find the bathroom. ;-) read more

Spectacular little gem we ran across walking from the Marriott Marquis to the State Capitol building. Coffee was solid and breakfast sandwiches were on point. There was ONE guy working and he was quiet, but friendly and he was obviously working hard to bang everything out in a timely manner. I asked for the Black Forest latte and the guy looked through notebook for about 3 seconds and said he didn't know how to make it and the midtown location was the only one with speciality drinks. ..... okay ... can I get a mocha with peppermint added and one of your apple fritters "the apple fritters usually are pretty stale by this time of day" ..... okay, well, just the coffee then .... Rarely downtown - on foot - I decided to stop by Cafe Lucia while I had time to spare on my parking. I absolutely loved the quaint homey setup inside with booth and lounge seating. Cafe Lucia has its own private entrance with beautiful on-brand window decor as well as a separate entrance attached to a larger building with other businesses (and access to a restroom). Shayla and Claire were nothing short of amazing! They both provided amazing service from check-out to the product itself. The day and time I visited last week, they weren't serving sandwiches but the coffee was great! I got my typical Hot Caramel Latte with Oat Milk -- really enjoyed the flavor - just a hint of sweetness so I could really taste the espresso bean.
