This is gonna be a long one because this place took me for a ride. I hate to sound like but this is a restaurant you'd like only if you've never ventured to NE ATL/BuHi/Norcross for the real bangers. It gives... tourist trap? I have never in my life had Americanized Thai food (or at least been conscience of it) but this tasted every bit of that. Not a single Thai national or descendant cooking or dining in here... I should have slid out the door upon noticing this but we were HONGRY and this place was walking distance. I appreciate the big portions to help alleviate the hunger, but the food going down wasn't even close to a real Thai experience. And the general ambience was definitely off. It's unclear whether this is a casual to-go spot or a sit-down spot or a bar. The service here was confusing. You have to order drinks separately from your food, for one. Secondly, it took a solid 10 minutes for a bartender to walk behind the bar and begrudgingly explain to me what they have available. I would have ordered more but her attitude made me close the tab after one beer. We didn't get served water until after we received our food, a solid 15-20 min after being in the restaurant. It generally felt like no one wanted to be there, and the staff were just moving independently to complete tasks instead of creating a dining experience *together*. There was not a smile from a single person I interacted with. I'd most likely not return purely because the dining experience is just plain out uncomfortable. On to the food. Mostly oil and noodles except for the papaya salad, which was... okay. Again, big portions. Nice heat. But just okay. The whole cherry tomatoes on top were a little weird and screamed laziness. The tofu kee mao was... okay. Same for the chicken pad thai. Lots of oil. This food made us feel pretty tired after eating it, which I've rarely experienced eating Thai cuisine. And they were very, very stingy with the protein. My husband counted 4-5 little slivers of chicken and hella noodles. The same was true for my tofu dish. I mean... it's tofu y'all. Cheap. But I can imagine they have to cut these corners because there were about 8 staff members running around in a small space with only a few customers in for happy hour. They do have HH deals on drinks depending on the day, but I found the drinks to be overpriced and not worth it. Especially the beer. And a $10 non-alcoholic cocktail is wild imo, especially for the scanty area this area is in. They are certainly milking the fact that they are in eyeshot of the Mercedes Benz stadium. The inside is beautiful and very ~trendy~ and honestly that tells me exactly where the focus is. I'd rate this a 2, but I'm adding a star for the spotless restrooms. read more

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the city. There is paid street parking on both sides of the street and you shouldn't have an issue finding a spot. The restaurant has about three tables that can seat six people each, there is a bar area with a few stools, and also a several stools along the wall in the back. You place your order and pay, you're given a buzzer and when your food is ready you pick up your food. The service was just okay during my recent visit. Everyone appeared to be a little distracted, tired or standoffish. It was much different than past experiences. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. I have never had a bad meal here. The only thing was our main entrees were spicier than we thought they would be. We requested medium and this wasn't our first time eating here but it was extremely spicier than expected which leads me to believe they made a mistake. I was told my food would be very fast, within 5-7 minutes. 17 minutes later, I got my order and that's because they didn't start cooking until I went up to the counter. They were not busy at all. Tyde Tate Kitchen has officially ruined me for any other Thai basil fried rice in Atlanta and I am not mad about it. I was first introduced to their dish at their location at The Works off Chattahoochee and now that they have a standalone location closer to my house I am in heaven. This is hands down my favorite Thai basil fried rice in the city. The presentation is always beautiful and the flavor is unmatched with the perfect balance of savory basil aroma fresh vegetables and tender meat. Just a heads up it is spicy even if you order it without spice or original but it is the kind of flavorful heat that keeps you going back for more. Pro tip ask for your egg fried hard as it takes the whole dish up another notch. Between the taste presentation and consistency Tyde Tate Kitchen is a must try. Highly recommend. read more

I had the chance to visit Tyde Tate for a nice Thai comfort dinner to bring back to my hotel room. I ordered the Thai basil stir-fry with shrimp. Tyde Tate was one of the first restaurants on my list to try when we moved to ATL. Safe to say we finally made it! The restaurant was small, intimate, super clean and not busy. I loved the little area of Thai snacks they had for you to purchase. Their menu is quite simple which I enjoyed because I am so indecisive sometimes. The bartender helped us walk through the menu. He was very attentive and was constantly juicing lemons for their incredible lemonade. We sat at the bar and ordered the spring rolls, shrimp rolls, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew. The springs rolls and shrimp rolls were the highlight of the show and sauce in the side was fire. I have very high expectations of Pad Thai because of a restaurant in my home town needless to say this was one of the better Pad Thai's I had but still a little too "peanuty" for me. My husband's Pad See Ew was phenomenal and fresh and shrimp were very fresh in both dishes. Side note I found it every odd that they handed us paper plates and cups to drink out of but to each their own. I guess that's less dishes for them. I cannot remember the name of the drink we ordered but it was bourbon and their lemonade and it was pretty refreshing. I decided to even take a lemonade to go. We ordered a couple of meals through door dash and specified medium spice online. In no realm was what I got considered medium spice. My soul was dying inside. I tried to talk and my voice didn't even work. I couldn't breathe. So on that note, I couldn't eat the food. My husband's was the same way. We actually like spicy food, but this was next level. I first came here a couple of months ago and really enjoyed the food. I came here recently got the Thai fried rice dish with a fried egg on top. I had a crazy day previously and was stuck overnight in Atlantas due to area storms and cancelled flights. I ended up staying downtown and when looking for a good lunch spot, happened across this gem on Yelp! It was easy to find and Uber to, once inside I quickly ascertained that Kaprow "Basil Chicken" sounded the best to me. Pad Kaprow is a popular Thai dish that features stir-fried meat, typically minced pork (here they offered min ed chicken which was excellent too), with holy basil (krapow) and a variety of seasonings. It's known for its bold flavors and is often served with rice and a fried egg on top. Although the menu was not very extensive, the items I ordered were fantastic and the restaurant servers and chefs were all very nice! It has a bright interior and was kept very clean. The seating was mostly shared dining tables with stools to pull up. The portion sizes were huge, so I took over half back to the hotel and ate it later before heading back to the airport. I would totally eat here again! The Kanom Jeeb dumplings were also fantastic! Kanom Jeeb is a traditional Thai dim sum dish that consists of steamed dumplings filled with a mixture of minced pork, shrimp, and sometimes vegetables. These dumplings had a nice delicate texture and were served with a flavorful dipping sauce and a different sauce drizzled over the top. They take a bit longer to cook, so your main will definitely come out first and the dumplings will follow in about 15 minutes, but worth the wait! read more

I came across this little gem while I was at a conference and staying at the Omni Atlanta at Centennial Park. It was about a 10-15 minute walk, but well worth it to get some really delicious food (a break from the typical conference food). It was so good that I brought my colleague back, and he loved it! I also told another colleague who's mentioned his favorite cuisine is Thai, so he brought some of his colleagues the next day, and they also enjoyed it! I ordered at the counter and they gave me a buzzer that went off when my food was ready. The servers were attentive and stayed on top of keeping the tables clean. There are a few tables outside, more tables inside, and a bar area. You bus your own table; the trash is at the end of the hall on the same side of where you order. I got the only two dishes that were gluten free, the Papaya Salad and the Pad Thai, which were both very good. I wish there were more options for me to try, but some is better than none! They use fresh Thai chilies here, so it will be more spicy than the typical levels you may be used to. Try mild and then ask for a spice tray/extra chilies if you're concerned. TTK is SO cute. It's small but not too small, and the set up is quite efficient. You go up to the counter to order, and pick up your food when it's done - self seating where there's space. TTK stands out from the area it's in -- it's bright, it's boho - it's clean! I loved the yellow accents, the little pillows, the various seating options, the greenery, and the neon lights. The food didn't disappoint either. I LOVE pad kee mao - and while it wasn't the best I've ever had, it was still delicious. It was hot (temperature wise), had enough spice, and plenty of veggies. It was saucy but not overly sweet and not dripping either. A good experience overall! read more

I've had Tyde Tate Kitchen for take out and dine-in service, it has been 5 star every time for me. The pad see ew is a good portion of noodles with chicken and broccoli, I tend to order hot and it's a great spice level for me (although I have a high heat tolerance). I generally order the chicken version of this dish and it's always very flavorful. The beef salad is AMAZING. It is so fresh and a perfect blend of vegetables, the meat portion could be a bit larger but it is such a nourishing dish. I love this with the hot spice level, the spicy, light dressing compliments the vegetable blend very well. Do not order this if you do not like onion/cilantro! The chicken curry puffs are also delicious. A flakey pastry and curry chicken filling, if I order the salad I love to have these on the side to make the meal more filling. The shrimp rolls are very tasty and crispy, nothing revolutionary but a solid appetizer. Always happy to have a meal from Tyde Tate Kitchen. This joint started from humble beginnings. Staff learned from family how to make their signature dishes. Full bar with specialty cocktails and staff ready to mix. Hopefully Tyde & Tates will spurn some more growth in the area. 5 star ratings are for real. I only took one star for the limited offerings but if you do a few things great then stick to that. Here's my three things. 1) Overhead staff saying the curry puffs put them on the map (biggest seller). I had the fried tofu and it was perfectly prepared for my liking and a nice sweet peanut sauce. Not a traditional peanut sauce. Think sweet & sour sauce with peanut crumble in it. 2) I am a Basil (insert protein here) fan so of course had that and the portions were awesome. Plenty of minced chicken, nice amount of heat from the fried Thai s, mixed in with some nice bell peppers. 3) Dining room is small but I can tell they do a strong carryout/delivery service. So ... I'm not upset. It's in a place where you would not think it would be, if you don't know what you're looking for you would definitely miss it! It was a pleasant surprise though. The street is kind of dark, It's not something that you would expect a really nice and bright place to be at. You coming to doing everything is white and lit up and illuminated and everything looks nice and very neat and clean. Cheers to them for all of the cleanliness. The menu is small, only about eight or so main items. And they also have maybe about eight or so appetizers too. They have the man and they have the basics so I could appreciate that, but it's not like a full menu with 36 things on it that you would find it anywhere else. I ended up going with the pad Thai for an app I ended up trying to curry puffs. Now when you say Thai, first thing that I think about is spice. Heat. Mad flavor. Tyde Tate had a good flavor, but they didn't have the level of spice that I would usually associate with a Thai food spot, so if you want spice, that's just an observation. But I won't ding it for that since that is my personal preference, but I have nothing much else to complain bout, they were fast/clean/friendly and I would swing by again. read more

Had the most amazing experience here yesterday! Ordered online for a discount and got there later than expected but food was still warm and they made me a fresh tea. The staff was super friendly and welcomed me in and said goodbye when I left, and they let me eat inside even though I had ordered my food to go! I got the Basil Tofu and a Thai tea. The tofu had such a yummy, rich basil flavor and perfect spongy texture, the peppers and green beans were delicious and fresh. The portions were super filling so I ate half then and half later!
