Thank you to Dr. Lee for explaining that my cat didn't need to go under anesthesia tomorrow; we could wait till January so everything could be taken car of under sedation. He was fair and honest. I spent hundreds of dollars on bloodwork when we arrived for another reason. As soon as I changed vets the first visit they decided to operate and fix my dogs issue. I had the worst experience ever the other day and was very disappointed. I'm not your typical reviewer as I know everyone can have a bad day . This was more than that and I think the 3rd review I've ever written and the first negative one . They were open until 5 pm and my dog was in horrific pain and it was 4:25 and the place was empty and the doctor walked out in hallway, expecting me to be gone and took off into the adjacent room. The two young ladies were wonderful with my dog and went to ask the doctor to see my dog. The Doctor said no and referred me to a medical hospital. The waiting room and patient rooms were empty and they were still open for another 35 minutes. Again the tech, nurse , secretary were wonderful and advocated for dog . STAY AWAY! this vet is a LIAR. We just had our dog at a different Veterinarian office not this vet (prospect park) to remove stitches from a surgery to remove a mass cell tumor stage 2!!!!! We brought our dog a few times to prospect park in regards to a bump on his belly they took a superficial scrape off of bump on his belly in office to see if it was bacteria but not at one point in time did they ever take a sample to send in to get tested for anything else such as cancer. We even suggested to get it removed the vet said no don't bother it .....!!!! he prescribed us some shampoo and cefpodoxime , now does that sound like a doctor that Supposedly said it could be a mass cell tumor I don't think so but that's what he tried saying he had said to us when we called today, I'm looking over bills I'm looking over documentation and that was never said once . so now he's saying oh well that's what I put down and now you're not gonna get covered for insurance because he's trying to cover himself and say he noted mast cell tumor when he never did we only found this out today when the bump was completely taken off of his stomach and sent in, results took two weeks . we are furious we spent a lot of money with this doctor overtime being that it was the general vet, on top of that lucky we found such a wonderful NEW Veterinarian (not prospect Park veterinary ), our new veterinarian also told us that he has grade two on his teeth ! Omg I am furious , you'll let our dogs die before you take care of them and then probably collect the money that it takes to keep them alive rather than take care of them and do preventative care. I am so disgusted by the care and the lies that this veterinarian has told us said that he told us that it was a mass cell tumor HAAAA yes because if that were the case I definitely would just leave it on my dog and let it go are you out of your mind what is wrong with you I am so disgusted I don't even wanna talk to you because I will scream in your face I honestly wanna sue you. you are the most irresponsible doctor of animals I've ever met! We moved into the area two years ago, and though we loved our old vet, we thought it was just too far to go every time we needed our dogs seen. Prospect Park Veterinary Clinic came highly recommended, even though they are a walk-in only clinic. And they have usually been very nice, when you actually have the time to wait for your pet to be seen. Because there are no appointments, we generally have to show up more than half an hour before their doors actually open to check in, and sometimes that isn't even enough to ensure you'll get in within the next 2-3 hours (which is sometimes all they're open for). Our old vet took appointments and gave us stellar service. Those are things I would gladly pay a little more for, but the reality was that we paid less on average for many of the same services at our old vet. Maybe if we were retired, unemployed or independently wealthy with nothing else to do, this would be an option, but it's just too much of a time commitment to make for the fleeting possibility that your pet will be seen. Quite honestly, no matter how nice they are (and they've been a tad less friendly during the COVID-19 era), I feel a little more disrespected each attempted visit -- as if our time is worthless to them. We switched one of our dogs back to the old vet a few months ago because she was having an issue that required reliable care. Now we're also switching our other dog back. Turns out a 90-minute round trip to our old vet isn't nearly as bad as waiting for hours to find out if we'll even be seen. read more

Great vet to go to, very efficient, and great service for what sized operation they are running. They will get you in and out, which makes your pet happier than you do. They will be companionate, especially Dr Lee, and they have good prices. A few months ago I found a tick on my dog, took him there and within minutes they took it out. We were gone, it was easy. And it was free knowing he was already a almost 6 year customer. He just passed away, and I just wanted to leave this feedback because after experiencing another locations sympathy and process, I can officially say that this place is heavenly. We got a call, and a handwritten letter from dr lee and all of his other associates. Not till then do you realize you take the love of a hospital or vet in general for granted. Got a rescue from ACCT, dog kept with an on and off cough. 10 minutes with vet $300, thought it would be cheaper outside city.

Dr. Lee and his staff were amazing. Very friendly over the phone and on-site. I was nervous about getting my little bud snipped, but Dr.Lee answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable about the surgery. This office is a WALK IN ONLY vet clinic, which has its pros and cons. Be sure to plan accordingly to get there early when they reopen for the evening shift to beat the rush. Dr.Lees office also accepted the "Friends of Animals" Neuter certification which made this visit much more affordable for the surgery than other Philly based options. I believe they only perform surgeries Tuesdays and Thursday's and as a new patient they have to have a pre-checkup before scheduling. Head there on a Monday night and they will keep your furr baby at the vet overnight for a Tuesday AM surgery. You'll have your furry friend back in your arms in no time! read more

I want to give this practice a 5. I really do. So let me say that Dr. Lee is a 5 star plus plus. He's knowledgeable, listens to you as the pet parent, and most importantly- is so very very compassionate. I've learned my lesson now to not see anyone else at this practice except Dr. Lee. Last evening we had to put down our senior cat, Sammie. Sammie was very sick and it was apparent as he stopped eating and was so very thin. Dr. Catona was examining Sammie and when my husband asked her what she thought she responded with, "It depends on how much you want to spend." Really??? How completely cold can you possibly be?!?!?! According to my friend who will only see Dr. Catona, this is not typical for her. However, this will be the first and last time she sees any of our animals. Pets are family in my house - not a "how much do you want to spend" afterthought. Then, after the initial sedative was administered, they left my husband alone in the room for more than 20 minutes waiting for them to return. I understand that they were busy, but again, no compassion for the pet parent. Dr. Catona - I'm speaking directly to you - when you are having a rough day (and we all have them and your job is terribly difficult) - have Dr. Lee or one of your colleagues who can muster up the compassion when you can't, perform the difficult tasks. The lack of compassion you exhibited last evening is unacceptable for someone in your profession. Again, for anyone considering this practice - Dr. Lee is the one you want to see. He's far and away the best vet I've every had for my pets. read more

Absolutely love this practice and Dr. Caroline Catona. My animals are like my children so vet care is extremely important to me beginning with the moment I step through the front door. I expect the staff to treat my animals like their own. I also have done rescue for 22 years so there are animals that are special to me that aren't even technically mine. Dr. Catona is truly one of the kindest vet's I have met and everyone I have ever referred to her and Prospect Park Vet have left happy. To top it off, I worked for the vet office for several years in a part time capacity due to my love for animals and i have to tell you that I've seen the entire staff behind the scenes and that speaks volumes. Caroline truly loves the clients animals and is so compassionate when handling them and caring for them. They truly matter to her - each and every one of them. There is truly no one I'd rather have with my pets except for Athan and Dr M and VG and Lee when she has a day off. You truly cannot go wrong with Dr. Catona. She is animal lover and owner herself and is so good to every soul that walks through that door. She really understands what a pet owner goes through and puts herself in your position. I cannot tell you the number of heartbreaking scenarios I've been though with her in the 20 years I've been coming to Prospect Park Vet. I've only had one incident with one girl at the front desk (providing inaccurate info with an attitude) and when I addressed it with the vet clinic owners, she was dealt with immediately. Good feeling to know they are open during the day and again at night. When my 17 year old cat needed to be put down, I was treated with kindness and received a heartfelt card in the mail soon after. The waiting room always has patients and the staff are honest about care. Another vet ( Media cat hospital) told me my cat (4 teeth) needed a dental $350, i left that vets office and took her to Prospect Vet and asked if she needs a dental cleaning and I was told no. A section of her gums were red and treated without needed a dental cleaning. I wanted and had my dogs teeth cleaned and boy were they white after that! read more

We have been taking our dogs and cat here for about 5 years. Unfortunately, we have spent a lot of time there this year. I have been really happy with the care our animals have received. They have nighttime hours which is AWESOME and has saves us from missing work or going to an emergency vet. All of their prescriptions are priced very low. Frontline and heartguard are as cheap as mail-order places. Absolutely would recommend this place! read more

I've had to come here quite a few times, sadly. However, the vets are top notch and don't overcharge. Frequently, if I've had to come back related to another issue, we aren't charged a repeat doctor visit fee. I have yet to see another vet do that. Everyone seems genuinely concerns about our animal. Big Plus: No appointments. You just show up during the open hours and you're seen. They also have hours in the evening which is awesome. Minus: No appointments. If you don't show up right at the opening time, you might be waiting a while. But I have waited just as long for an "appointment" time at another nearby vet. 4/5 stars. It would be 5, except for the small waiting room and the small parking lot. read more

Had to put my cat down in Feb. They were very kind and compassionate about my loss. Allowed me to come in the back door so l did not have to wait in the waiting room. Gave me paw prints of my girl and later sent a sympathy card. I have taken my cats there for minor issues and they have been very caring to all of them. read more

I had a great experience with these guys. My dog has dealt with severe allergies over winter for the last three years. I've been turned away by many vets dismissing it as nothing. We have a beagle and she has health issues and have taken her to the clinic for most of her treatments and they have been awesome. We have to rush our dog to Marple hospital one everning and they couldn't figure out what was wrong after $570 dollars later. At the clinic they knew what was wrong within 10 minutes what the problem was. They are the best! read more

We have been clients of Prospect Park Veterinary since 1998 when we got our first dog. SInce then we have acquired three additional dogs who have all been patients of the doctors at Prospect Park. Our first dog passed away last year. Today, our second dog, had to be put to sleep. The doctors and staff here are the most honest, caring and compassionate people that a family needs at this time. They charged a nonimal fee compared to what I have read on the internet. They always have been known to not take advantage. They never do tests or radioligy work unless truly needed. We still have two dogs that will be happy patients of these wonderful doctors.There is no where I'd ever take my pups to get the best care. Today we were surrounded by caring and loving people who empathasized with our situation. We are forever grateful. WIth a heavy heart, I tell you that this place is the only place to go. read more

Long wait times, front desk unprofessional, Doctor somewhat indignant/rude. In the future I will go somewhere else.

These guys used to be good and I'm not sure what happened. Several scenarios as of recently have made me think twice about them. First off, my mother in law brought her cat here who was continuously sick and spent thousands of dollars over a few years and found out after finally getting a second opinion, that she had a cleft pallet. Prospect Park missed this how? Stoney Creek found this within 5 minutes of first examining her. Our 2 friends over the last few weeks have brought their cat in for a UTI, after several visits and hundreds of dollars, PP somehow missed that he was blocked up and had to get emergency surgery last night at Old Marple, now he's ok. FInally our one dog was starting to lick his paws constantly. After several visits and just being told "it's just allergies, just give him benadryl" he got so bad when we were on vacation, my parents had to take him to their vet and he had a rash and infection. We took him to Stoney Creek our new vet now, and they put him on meds that PP never mentioned to us. PP also failed to tell us he was overdue for 2 vaccinations. They may be less expensive but i do NOT trust them and people need to be aware. They seem to downplay things, causing you to bring your pet back and line their pockets all while misdiagnosing. read more
